Can you loop effects in Captivate?

Hello!
I am trying to create the image of someone falling down a hole with the little speed lines trailing behind it.  I'd like to give it the image of falling for the entire time the user is on the slide.  Is there a way to loop effects to continue to cycle until the user leaves the slide.  I'm using Captivate 6.
Thanks!

Although letting the player do the job may be the easier way, you might want to explore the use of a free program named InfoEdit that was brought up in a 2010 thread here.

  • How can you loop a part endlessly?

Recently bought Garageband an am really happy with it. I've made a song with two parts, A and B. A is the introduction while I mean for B to basically loop forever, like in most video games, without part A to repeat as well. Now is my question, how can you do that?

Well I guess for a CD you could put the CD player on "Repeat", no? After-all, a CD can only hold 80 minutes, so it won't play all day even if you did loop the same 20 minutes over and over, you could only do 4 iterations.
QuickTime Player is a simple solution too and will sound exactly the same a a CD --Hang

  • Can you do THIS with Captivate ? ...

    Hi,
I'm new to Adobe Captivate and am using the 30 day trial to see if it does what I need it to do.
I need to create a test as follows:
    60 questions, split into sections.
I need a small button for each question, numbered 1 - 60 aligned vertically in one line down the left of the page, so there would need to be some scrolling as 60 buttons would go off the screen.
Pushing each button would select a multiple choice question from a random pool. eg. Push button No. 5 and a random question would be there. Push 6 and there's be a different question, but if you pushed 5 again, the same question would be there as before. This enables the person being tested to skip back and fore between questions by clicking the buttons.
There may be numerous sections to each test.
    eg.
    Car Engines
    Car Bodywork
    Steering
    Suspension etc. etc.
So, questions 1 - 8 say may be picked randomly from the 'Car Engines' question pool.
Questions 9 - 19 say may be picked randomly from the 'Car Bodywork' question pool. etc. etc.
At the end of the test, I need the results to be displayed such as:
    Car Engines - 76%
    Car Bodywork - 52%  etc.
I'd also like a simple bar chart representation if possible.
    Hope this is clear.
I'd be very grateful if somebody could advise if this type of test scenarion can be created with Captivate.
I'm prepared to learn to use Captivate if it can be done, but do not want to waste my time if Captivate doesn't have the capability to create this type of test.
    Grateful for any advice.

Captivate won't give you exactly what you've described straight out of the box.  But then, neither will any other authoring tool that I'm aware of.
    Scrolling Navigation Buttons
The Captivate screen does not scroll.  You need to think of it as being like a movie you watch on TV, not as an HTML web page.  There are widgets available to give some scrolling of text in captions, but not something that would provide navigation on each and every quiz slide with buttons to jump to any question in the quiz.
    Question Pools
Captivate can have any number of question pools associated with a single project file, but you have to set up how many questions will come from a given pool before you publish the project. When the project loads into the user's browser, the randomisation is done to select the particular questions from each pool that will appear in the movie at runtime and is then fixed for the duration of that runtime.  You can't control it and perform more randomisation via clicking of buttons. Basically, your navigation buttons are just intended to take you to particular question slides.  Which quiz question appears on that slide at runtime is totally dependent on the randomisation done from the question pool.
So if you have 5 question pools, each with 20 questions, but only want ten question from each pool to appear in your published project, you can easily do this with Captivate.
NOTE: One other thing you need to be aware of is that once your user answers a question and moves off that slide, their answer will be locked and cannot be changed until the Retake the Quiz or relaunch the lesson.  So although Captivate can be configured to allow backward movement, it does not necessarily allow your user to go back and change their answers to questions previously answered.
    Quiz Results
Captivate considers all questions or scored objects in a project file to be part of its Quiz Scope.  This scope begins on the slide containing the first scored element, and goes until the last scored element.  A project file can have only one Quiz Results slide which will show scoring data from all objects in the Quiz Scope.
If you want to have scoring displayed separately for certain sections of your quiz (Car engines, Car bodywork, etc) you will need to use one of Captivate's more advanced techniquest using Advanced Actions and Variables.  It can be done out of the box, but it takes time to achieve the required scripting.
Captivate does not have bar charts as standard screen objects.  Once again, you could use some fancy Advanced Actions and Variable scripting to rig up something that looked similar.  But it would take yet more time.
I hope this helps with your decision.

  • Can you manually advance a Captivate slide presentation with a remote control and a projector.

I have published a large volument of PowerPoint presentations with Captivate 5.0 and intend to distribute the presentations to live instructors as a means to control content delivered live by instructors to the students.  The files are aggregrated into groups of lessons and published to PDF with a Table of Contents.
We need to avoid manually advancing the show from the laptop.
Having difficulty determining how to use remote control via laptop and projector to advance the next slide or presentation. Can't get it to work. Was able to do so previously with PowerPoint slides converted to PDF shows. Remotes/Laser pointers worked fine. But now that I have processed the shows through Captivate 5.0 can seem to find a remote that will work with the new PDF or SWF with our systems.
We use a laptop and projection system, so need to be able to advance the show to the next "slide" manually and are trying to figure out how to do it with a remote control.
Has anyone else experienced this challenge and did you find a solution?.

    Hi Carey,
if you can apply the letter "A" for "next" to your remote control?
Then you could add a shortcut to your buttons in the captivate file.
    In deapth:
Go to a PPT importet slide (using the "click mouse" option to continue".
Click somewhere in the screen (clickbox_xx will be selected).
Properties - Action - Shortcut. Click it and press "A".
    Click somewhere on the stage.
Now when you press your next button on the remote, Captivate will receive an "A" and continue to the next slide.
    Hope this helps

  • Can you loop audio on first page of iWeb

Just got iWeb - experimenting, but not yet published the site.
Can I set up an audio clip to loop continually? - either just on the first 'welcome' page, or throughout the site until a different audio clip is selected? This would be like on most computer games - a drone kind of piece of music, written by myself.
Also is there a way to place an audio clip 'on top' of a photo or a movie, to give some kind of visual relief?
Is there a way to copy and paste the Navigation bar to all pages?
Finally, is there a clip art thing with the art designs and stamps etc?
    Best regards, Rich

You can very easily do this, but you can't do it in iWeb directly. It's going to take some post-publishing editing of the iWeb-generated HTML files. See this link...
    http://www.world-voices.com/resources/addaud.html
This is one method of directly embedding different audio file formats. Whether the audio is audible to the visitor depends on whether their web browser has a plugin to decode the format.
The other method is to drag the audio file directly into iWeb. This will require that the visitor have QuickTime loaded in order to hear the audio. To make the audio autoplay you would still have to do some editing of the page.js file.
Here is an example of some background sounds on my website...

  • How can you loop a CD

I and using Garageband to edit several interviews together. The total length of this project will be somewhere around 20 minuets. This interview will be incorporated in to an art project that will be up for a week, where the audio will need to loop all day long. What would be the best way to loop this audio wile maintaining the highest quality.
I guess I could import it in to final cut pro and burn it to a DVD and then loop the DVD, but that seems like the long way around.
    Thanks

  • Can you loop video forever as a menu background, but audio only once?

I'm wanting to make a menu that has a video background and plays music as soon as the DVD starts up, but I want the music to stop after it plays through twice and the video to continue to loop.
I know I could do this by setting a loop point, but I don't want the user to have to sit and wait the first time the music plays before they can select a button.
Is there a way to do this?

    ram8kumar wrote:
There are mainly two workflows to set the looping in a motion menu :
    1. If you want to loop the entire video and audio, then there are two ways to do this:
         a)  In the motion tab of the menus properties, set the loop point to 00:00:00:00 and the loop# to the number of times you want the looping.
         b)  Go to the Specify Link dialog box to set the End action of the menu, select the menu as the target link and check the 'Set to loop point' checkbox there.
    2. If you want to loop the video from a specific point in the time, then in the motion tab of the menu, set the loop point to the exact time of the video you want to stat the looping from and set the loop # to number of times you want the looping.
Thanks for the reply, but I don't think either of your solutions will achieve the result I'm wanting.  I want to loop the AUDIO just once (it plays two times after the menu comes up), but I want the VIDEO background to continue to loop forever.  I also want the user to be able to make a menu selection at any time, including right when the menu first appears.
If I set a loop point, it makes the menu unusable until that loop point is reached the first time.
I was thinking I could do this with two menus.  The first menu would have the audio and video and only loop one time, then its end action would send it to another menu that looks exactly like the first, but only has the video looping on it.  The only problem with this solution is that if the user moves their selection to something other than the default button, it will jump back to the default button when it goes to the second menu (or whatever button the "end action" is set to on the first menu).
Would there be a way to have the first menu jump to the identical second menu and stay on whatever button the user currently has highlighted?
    Thanks.

  • Can you loop Jingles?

Aww, I just found an amazing jingle in iMovie 08. It's short, though. Can it be looped? I want to use it as a background track but it's too short...

    Can it be looped?
No, but you can repeatedly add it to the background layer in iMovie '08.

  • CLIP JAM-CAN YOU LOOP ONE SONG

Hello I just bought the clip jam, is there a way to loop one track over continuously.? thanks

Sorry, your logic and/or reasoning escapes me. If you're wanting 1 song to repeat continuously, why would you not want to use the feature designed for that purpose?

  • Can you loop through a collection of entites to read a given attribute?

I got an entity called <b>the applicant</b>. and this entity has an attribute called <b>the full name of the applicant</b>.
I want to go through the collection of <b>the applicants</b> and get the <b>full name</b> for each applicant and assign it to a text variable with comma seperated. Is it possible to do this in OPA?
this is what i want to do
<b>"the names" </b>is the variable that I want to store the list of names
    read the collection of applicants
the names = the concatenation of the names & " " & the full name of the applicant & ","
    end
so it will give me an output like <b>James Blunt, David Brown, Julia Guilard</b>

Wow harsh moderation there by rukbat! I don't know who he/she is but I apologise and assure you most people on this forum are not so mean.
To answer your question, there's no built-in way to do what you want. Normally displaying something like this would be considered an application problem rather than a rule-level problem, however if you really want it done in a rule, you could do it with a custom function.

  • Can you embed a PDF into a Captivate 8 project?

    Hi,
Can you embed a PDF document into a captivate project?
I know i shouldnt compare, but in Articulate Story Line, you are able to add 'resourses' into the project which sit alongside the eLearning to provide further reading.
Can you do this in Captivate? but without it linking to an external sourse such as local or shared drive?
    Thanks
    Chris

    To tmpe222,
I'm not a Cp expert, but it seems to me that there's no sense in simply trying to stick a pdf document in the Scorm package. What good would that do? The file would be in the package, but that doesn't mean it would be 'embedded in the project' in any meaningful sense of the term.
I don't know of any way to embed a pdf document directly into a Cp project. But couldn't you simply convert the pdf file into an image (jpeg or gif)? This you could easily insert in your project. It would be inserted as a standard object. And then you could do all the nice things that you can do with any object: put it on slide to be accessed only if the participant wants to view it; use effects so that it enters nicely; add annotation . . . the sky's the limit.
Does this help at all, or am I on the wrong track?
    Best regards,
    Marvin DuBois

  • Can you use soundtrack pro's loops in your youtube videos or do you need to purchase a license since it is royalty free?

Can you use soundtrack pro's loops in your youtube videos or do you need to purchase a license since it is royalty free?
I understand they are royalty free, I am just confused about using the actual loops for films, videos, etc - if there is a special license you must purchase or what?
Yes sure, it's a library and may be used a lot - but is it legal or against agreement?
And to clarify - what about music I create on the program , that is ok right?

If you purchased the software you have the right to use the loops that came with the software in the software to make whatever you want.

  • Can you edit layers separately on a sphere in After Effects?

I'm working on a history documentary about World War II and I have a map of the world divided into colonial empires. Each empire is a separate layer.
If you apply the map to a sphere in Photoshop and then bring it into After Effects, can you animate the empire layers fading in their opacity at different times?
Is this possible? I have no idea how to do this but I imagine that it must be relatively simple to do.
Thank you very much in advance for any helpful suggestions.

Did you choose File --> Import, picked the PSD and then actually set the dimensions to Comp - Document size? this should definitely work. Note that by default it will import as Footage, which is not what you want. If that's not the problem, you may have accidentalyl flattened/ merged the Photoshop document or done something else that forces AE into flattening the doc. For instance the document being in CMYK instead of RGB color mode would do that... I recommend you double-check in PS.
