Can you macbook pro with a 220 volt power adapter

Can you macbook pro with a 220 volt power adapter

The power supply for the MBP will run with any voltage between 110 and 240 so there is no need for a voltage power adapter.

Can a MacBook Pro with Microsoft Office 2008 accept a Windows USB drive?

You can hook up an USB drive formatted as FAT32 or NTFS(read-only), but it can't read exFAT drives or boot Windows from an USB drive.

My MacBook Pro with Retina display displays power point and not other windows when connected to a projector. Can anyone help out please?

You should also ask this in the MacBook Pro forum. This is the forum for the white and black plastic MacBooks that were discontinued in 2010. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.

  • New Macbook Pro FileVault Encrpytion Paused "Connect power adapter to resume encryption"

Does anyone have information on what is causing the FileVault encryption error with OS X Yosemitie? I just purchased a new 15 inch 2.5 GHz (mid-2014) MacBook Pro and during the initial installation / setup I elected to use FileVault to encrypt my 250GB SSD. As the encryption process was completing, it gave me an error stating the encryption was paused and "Connect power adapter to resume encryption."
The MacBook Pro is connected to its power supply. I should note this is my second MBP, I had this same issue with the 1st MBP, which was returned to Apple and replaced with another new MBP. I just don't understand how Apple can release an OS with an option to encrypt the drive if it doesn't work.

So, after 30 minutes with a support person on chat I asked to be escalated. During the time I waited for the sr. tech to come online I decided the best course of action was to erase the disk and re-install Yosemite. The sr. tech came on and said they are very much aware of this issue and the solution is to erase the disk and re-install Yosemite. This was quite easy.
I followed these instructions which matched what the sr. tech provided: OS X Yosemite: Erase and reinstall OS X
Just be sure to erase the correct disk. For me it was the 2nd Macintosh HD in the list.
Also be sure to choose Mac OS Extended (Journaled) as the format, not Mac OS Extended (Journaled, Encrypted).
You'll need to re-install the included apps (Pages, Garage Band, etc.) by going to the App Store and choosing Purchased.
    Hope this helps!

  • Can a MacBook Pro with Leopard be Target Disk mode to take my Snow Leopard iMac data?

I might be going about this wrong, but I wonder if it can be done:  I have an older MacBook Pro that has a clean fresh install of Leopard on it.  I would like to get my current account and data from my iMac (running Snow Leopard) on to the MBP by using Target Disk Mode.  I tried to take saId data off the iMac by target disking it ( FROM iMac TO macbook ) but that gave me a warning about going from a newer operating system down to an older one.  Soooo... can I go in the other direction and target disk the laptop?  Somehow, I don't think that is really the best way to do it.  I do not have the Snow Leopard install disk anymore, so I can't upgrade the laptop.  But is that what I am really going to have to do, to do this right?  Thanks!

You can't migrate a user account from a later OS to an earlier one.
You can use TDM to move your data by drag & drop, but you won't be able to retain all preferences.
Easiest way would be to put the MBP in TDM  and use Disk Utility from the iMac to erase the Macintosh HD on the MBP and then use the Restore function to clone the whole system from the iMac to the MBP.
But there are caveats - If the OS on the iMac was installed originally from a retail SL disc (white with white cat on it) this should work fine.
But - if the OS on the iMac is the one it shipped with (installed from a grey disc), it won't have the battery management software required by the MBP.
In that case your choices are limited to manually moving your data from your home folder to the new account on the MBP, or buy a retail SL disc and upgrade the MBP then use setup assistant to transfer the user and applications.
As always, I would recommend backing up your data from the iMac to an external drive before starting any of this.

  • I went on my MacBook Pro this morning and found out that my Macbook Pro isnt charging, is the power adapter damaged? Or is it the power adapter string that attatches to the Macbook Pro?

I dont know what is wrong with my computer,if is it because there is something wrong with my MacBook Pro or if its the actual power adapter or the string that attatches the power adapter and the computer. HELP PLEASE!!!

  • My Macbook Pro display flickers when using power adapter

I purchased a new power adapter for my Macbook Pro (late 2011 17 inch) from Other World Computing and now the display flickers intermittently when attached to the new power adapter. There is no flickering when not attached to the power adapter or when attached to the old power adapter.
Any ideas on fixing the new power adapter? I would rather fix the problem if it is simple.
    Thanks for the help.

It doesn't affect the battery. You can use your MacBook Pro plugged in all the time without damaging the battery. You only have to be sure that you unplug it and run a battery cycle (drain the battery without letting the Mac turn off and charge it fully) at least once a month to keep the battery life.

Did you download and install the Windows Support software? If you did, did you use the Boot Camp Control icon to set up the trackpad how you want it?

Even today, 21st Century and all, printing on Unix systems can be somewhat of a black art, and every so often a gremlin or two crawl out of the woodwork. Purging all can make sure no damaged pointers or corrupted caches linger on to make life miserable.
    Glad you're peachy now.

  • Can you use the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display straight out of the box, or do you have to charge it first?

Can you use the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display straight out of the box, or do you have to charge it up fully before you can use it. I do not want to damage the laptop by misusing the battery.

Attach the charger and start charging the battery to 100%.  The good news is that after you have connected the charger, you may start using the MBP as well.
    Ciao.
