Can you mount a an Xserve vertically?

Can you mount a an Xserve vertically?

As Alex mentioned, you can mount it vertically. I use the Marathon Stand in my environment -- works great. Bought mine on ebay.
Finding these stands now is not so easy, but in the UK you can still get them from Zomp:
http://www.zomp.net/shop/productinfo.php?productsid=240014
Expensive when compared to what they sold for in US$.
For the Xserve RAID, there is still an option available:

  • Can You mount a mac Pro In a case for On the Road work

I do audio pre and post production and I was thinking aobu ttaking a mac pro and putting it in a rack sideways . I know that the HD need pins(I think) to do that But I dont really know much else. any suggestions are appreciated

The MacPro is not a small tower. I don't think it will fit in a standard 19" rack case on it's side, even if you hack-sawed off the feet and handles (and who'd want to do that?!)
You can rack your Mac vertically with this deal: (it says G5 but I think the case is the same size for MacPro?)
    http://www.redco.com/shopexd.asp?id=876
And there are up to 5 rackspaces vertically for your outboard gear. This thing is the converter only and you still need to get a 12 space rack.

  • Can you mount a skypephone in archlinux?

Hello, I am trying to mount a skypephone S2 in archlinux via USB.  When I connect it to the computer, lsusb gives
Bus 005 Device 015: ID 1614:1000 Amoi Electronics
Which I am pretty sure is the phone.  I pacmanned a few tools like wammu and gnokki, basically whatever I could find that I thought might work, but all that I can get when I connect the phone is a useless driver "CD" mounted on the desktop which contains windows drivers.
Yeah, so basically, how do I get files from the skypephone to my computer via USB?  I'm kind of sure it's possible because I remember doing it at some point, though I don't quite remember how.
    Gratitude expressed in advance!

How do I know?  I don't.  It was a quote.  From arunix. (Above)
I personally did not believe that it would be "just connect it and mount it".  If it did, I would probably die of a heart attack.
dmesg gives this, I think this is the relevant part:

  • Can you mount an imac 21.5"?

Hi, i was wondering whether a 21.5" imac can be wall mounted?

yes.  several vendors sell the kits.

  • Can you mount from 10.6 to 10.8 WebDAV shareing point?

    Someone please help me.
I can't copy from 10.8 WebDAV shareing point. In use 10.6 client.
    Error occured 8084 message.
    10.8 client is OK.

WebDAV stays WebDAV if I'm not mistaking. In OS X you need to go to the finder, choose Connect to Server from the Go menu and enter the http://server.example.com/webdav/share (https will also work if you've set a certificate on the server) address.
Substitute with your own prefix, servername and share folder, but the webdav portion stays in place.

  • Can you pin objects to the vertical edges of the browser?

Im trying to have a next arrow button pinned to the right edge of the browser and a previous arrow button pinned to the left side of the browser. I tried using containers set at 100% of the page but it doesnt work becuase eventhought they have no fill except for the little arrow on each edge, the whole container is active accross the page. And as they are on top of each other (as I neet the arrows to align horizontally)  only one button is active. Does anyone have any other ideas?

I'm not sure if I know specifically what you're asking, but maybe this will help.
The default probes will show you the data that makes up the type of the wire.  So, for children classes it shows the childs data and any ancestor data.
If it's a top level class wire it will only show the data for the parent class, but will inform you of the actual type of the wire, since we know children can pass as their parents.
Now, I think what you're asking is if it's possible to see the childrens data, on a parent's wire.  I'm not sure, but you may be able to make custom probes to show you more information based on actual type.

  • Can you crop a picture vertical in imovie11

Can you crop a picture vertical in imovie 11

    Hi Matt
Can this be simulated by use of Pic side by side Pic function and adding one side at a time and a Black photo ?
    First one side
    Export out as QT
Import this and into a new projec
    add other side (black photo)
    Me just speculating
    • Just tested - Side by Side is 50% - Can this be altered to 33 to 67% ? - Else it will black out with no mid section ?
May be it can be done by creative use of Pic in Pic (8 small black photos acting as frames - 4 per side) ?
Yes this can be done and No of black photos in relation to amount of widt of the pillar-frames e.g. 4 per side (25%) and there will be many doings of Export/Import.

  • Can you re-export an nfs mount as an nfs share

If so what is the downside?
I'm asking because we currently have an iscsi san and a recent upgrade
severely degraded iscsi connectivity. consequently can't mount my iscsi
    volumes.
    Thanks,

    Thank you,
    db
Depending on which Novell OS you are running.... this subform is for NetWare, but I suspect you are using OES Linux.
I've never tried creating a NCP share on OES for a remote NFS mount on the server. My first guess would be it is not allowed and also not a good practice. You could however, with this situation and if you are running an OES2 or OES 11 Linux server, try configuring an NFS mount on the OES server and then configuring the NCP share on that using remote manager on the server.
What I would recommend however to see if the iSCSI issue cannot be fixed or worked around.
Could you describe a bit more of the situation there/what happened and what is not working on that end?

  • Can you specify the allowable values for vertical range and offset for the NI 5112 PCI Digitizer?

The NI 5112 manual indicates that the vertical range can be set from +/- 25mV to +/-25V in 10% steps. Can you explain exactly what this means? (For example, could you give me a series of allowable values.)
Also, what are the allowable values for voltage offset?
The reason for my question is: I am specifying the vertical configuration using the niScope_ConfigureVertical() function. The observed raw (8 bit) sampling does not appear to change at all for small changes in voltage range and offset. I would like to know where the hardware breakpoints are, so that I can apply correct scaling from bits to voltage.
In addition, I have tried to use the niScope_CheckAt
tributeViReal64() function to "check" a value before applying it to NISCOPE_ATTR_VERTICAL_RANGE or NISCOPE_ATTR_VERTICAL_OFFSET, but it fails in the linking step in Microsoft Dev. Studio. (niScope.lib & niscope_32.lib do not seem to contain any of the CheckAttribute functions that are listed in the NI-Scope function reference.)
    Thank you for your response.

There is a nice reference at:
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/3efedde4322fef19862567740067f3cc/38f18d418e2433ed8625690e006bbe94?OpenDocument
which explains that allowable voltage ranges can be expressed by the equation:
    next_range_value = range_value * 1.1 starting at +/- 25 mV.
When a range is specified that does not match this series, the device driver rounds UP to the next value.

  • Can you write vertically in the cell of a table, can you write vertically in the cell of a table

can you write vertically in the cell of a table, can you write vertical

If you don't understand that my response was a smiling echo of the stammering question I really can't help you.
I guess that my 36725 points prove that I may be helpful. It seems that at this time you don't really know what are helpful answers.
Using spreadsheets since more than twenty years, I know that storing something in an auxiliary object floating upon a cell isn't a serious workaround to the asked question. We may be sure that more or less soon, the object will no longer be were it was supposed to be.
At this time, if we want to put a vertical text in a cell it's safer to insert a character, a linefeed, a character, a linefeed … which, one more time is echoing the stammering question.

  • I can't mount a USB Hard Drive...can you?

I can't mount a USB hard drive on MAC or PC. Mac it does not mount - PC won't accept password.
    Does it even work?
AirPort Extreme n   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   PC too

I just bought the Airport Extreme 802.11n and a WD MyBook Essential Edition 500GB to use with it as a shared disk. Reformatted it on my Mac and it works fine, but can't get Airport Disk Utility to see it. I've tried resetting everything, but no go.
The improved range compared to my old Airport Extreme 802.11b/g is great, but I've wasted my money on the disk if the Airport can't connect to it.
Why was there no explanation anywhere in the specifications that this new Airport only works with some USB disks? The way it's written is clearly designed to make you think that any external HD that connects to a USB port will work.
I too would welcome any thoughts on how to get the HD to work with Airport. Thanks.

  • In FCP, holding Shift when moving a clip from track to track would lock it in position vertically.  Can you do this in Premiere Pro?

That was pretty much the question right there.

First reset position and scale. If you insist on doing this in the inspector then in the crop function in the inspector use the Type pop to select Crop. There are three options: Trim, Crop, and Ken Burns. It's easiest to do this in the viewer. After you reset position and scale, the transform function, press Shift-C. You'll see three buttons at the top as well as a keyframe button. Select the middle button and press the keyframe button when the playhead is at the start position. It'll look like this.
Go to the end position and change the crop value. It'll look like this or something like it.
    Click Done.
Can you do this step-by-step and see what happens?

  • Can't mount 3rd party DAS storage and Xsan volume simutaneously

Xsan client(MacPro) equipped an Apple FC HBA card can't mount SGI TP9300 DAS storage and Xsan volume simutaneously when powering on or restarting.
Among 2 FC ports, one port is used for Xsan volume using Xserve RAID, and the other port is used for SGI TP9300 storage which is directly connected to that Mac.
When booting, Xsan volume is always mounted normally, but SGI TP9300 volume is not.
Sometimes TP9300 volume is mounted about 20~30 minutes later.(I attached system.log file)
The LUN of TP9300 is seen at Disk Utility, so it's not physical problem.
It seems that actual volume information is not correctly processed at booting time.
While, after booting the system with the FC cable for TP9300 disconnected and confirming that Xsan volume mounted normally, then connecting the FC cable for TP9300, the TP9300 volume is mounted immediately.
Mac OS X 10.4.8, Xsan 1.4 is being used.

Yes, I think you screwed your xsan volume. You can not remove luns from pools, and you can not remove volumes from volumes.
How important is your existing data? In your case I would concentrate on that. This is not trivial. Theorotically you have lost your data allready. In practise you might have luck.
Once I was in your kind of twilight zone, and managed to keep the data. It is a complete cli job. You have to be very carefull about with your config files. You could hire an experienced xsan consultant. If that is not possible, read the manpages very carefully before doing anything on the volume.

RMAN-06003: ORACLE error from target database: ORA-01220: file based sort illegal before database is open
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.X$DBMS_RCVMAN", line 7220
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.X$DBMS_RCVMAN", line 5053
    ORA-06512: at line 1
    I repeat my questions:
    1. Should I restore archive log files generated on July 16th back to original archive directory in order to avoid to recover failure?
    2. Or Should I add the command "sql 'alter system archive log current'" in the backup script in order to avoid to recover failure?
Can you help me ? Thank you.

You are correct. In RMAN8i, you should add the "alter system archive log current; command before you backup the archive logs.
You are running into the case where Oracle needs additional redo to make the database consistent that was located in the current online log at the time of the backup.
If you set UNTIL TIME to an earlier time does the recover work?
In Oracle9i, if you issue the command, "backup database plus archive logs", RMAN will automatically archive the current online log before performing the archive log backups.
    Thanks, Tammy
