Can you move the keys about on a 2010 MBA, 11"?

Hi,
A friend has called me from his European holiday to say he can get me a new MBA for what works out to just over £500, about 1/3 off the UK RRP! The only problem is the keyboard would be AZERTY, not QWERTY.
Is it possible to pop the keycaps off and swpa them about to 'make' a QWERTY keyboard on the new MBAs?
Thanks,

No offense but the above poster is 100% wrong. The key caps on the MacBook Air are totally removable and switchable; I just pulled off a couple of mine and swapped them around.
There are plenty of tutorials on YouTube on how to do it, though the ones I saw involved popping off the underlying scissor mechanism, which is overkill imho. Just lift up the bottom right corner of the key you need to swap out with a fingernail or a small jeweler's screwdriver and then pull delicately up. To reinsert a key, just slide the key in towards the monitor and push down.
You do have to be very, very careful, though, as the plastic parts underneath are very delicate. Once you've switched the keys around once, I wouldn't do it again. If you do break one of the scissor mechanisms, though, you might be able to swing by a local Apple store and get a replacement for free.

    how can you move the objects from one server to another?

    Hi,
    Collecting objects for Transporting
    1. rsa1->transport connection
    2. left panel choose 'object type', middle panel choose 'infocube' and 'select objects'
    3. then choose your infocube and 'transfer'
    4. will go to right panel, choose collection mode 'manual' and grouping only 'necessary objects'
    5. after objects collection finished, create request
    6. If they are $TMP, then change the package.
    7. When you click the Save on the change package, it will prompt for transport. Here you can provide an existing open transport request number, or if you like here itself you can create a new one.
    8. You can check the request in SE09 to confirm.
    Releasing Transport Request
    Lets say you are transporting from BWD to BWQ
    Step 1: In BWD go to TCode SE10
    Step 2: Find the request and release it (Truck Icon or option can be found by right click on request #)
    Note: First release the child request and then the parent request
    Steps below are to import transport (generally done by basis )
    Step 1: In BWQ go to Tcode STMS
    Step 2: Click on Import queue button
    Step 3: Double Click on the line which says BWQ (or the system into which transport has to be imported)
    Step 4: Click on refresh button
    Step 5: High light the trasnport request and import it (using the truck icon)

  • Can you move the aperture library without losing images?

    my library is defaulted to imac..
    but can you house it on external drive..I know, yes, as a referenced library.
    but I already have some [lots] images in library.
    can I move the library and maintain contents?
    also..
    once you import into library, is the original image in folder it was in before? or it's deleted?
    just trying to see what will work best for my needs?
    as I sometimes travel/live in 2nd home and just carry external drive
    thanks for input/suggestion

    Menu>File>Vault
    Creating what Ap[erture calls a 'Vault' seems like the easiest way to do it.
    Here is the complete Help section on backing up your library.
    QUOTE:
    As you begin working with Aperture, it’s important to perform regular backups of your photos. Using the Aperture backup system, you can create backups and update them whenever you wish. Aperture tracks your backups and indicates how up to date your most recent backup is. In the rare event of equipment failure or an unforeseen catastrophe such as a fire or weather-related damage, you can easily restore the entire Aperture library onto your computer or a new computer.
    You set Aperture to back up a copy of the library to a designated storage area called a vault. For safety and redundancy, use external hard disks to hold your vaults. You can create as many vaults as you deem necessary.
    When you back up your photos, Aperture makes a complete copy of the library in its current state. If you remove items from the library, those items are removed from the backup when it is next updated.
    All originals for managed images, all versions, and all metadata, previews, and adjustment information associated with your photos are backed up. The versions, previews, and metadata associated with referenced images are also backed up in the vault.
    Important:  Referenced images’ originals are not backed up in the vault with the library. Because the originals for referenced images are stored outside of the library, you must manage the backup and archiving of them yourself.
    A typical backup system used with Aperture might look like the following:
    This system backs up the Aperture library to two vaults stored on external hard disks. You routinely back up the library on one external hard disk. You use the second hard disk as a backup that you keep offsite. You can then rotate your onsite external hard disk with the offsite hard disk to keep all your vaults updated.
    To set up your Aperture backup system, you need to do the following:
    Determine the number of vaults you need. For example, do you need one for routine backups, one for weekly backups, and one for offsite storage?
    Determine the number of hard disks you need for routine backups.
    Determine the number of hard disks you’ll use for storing backups offsite.
    Connect your hard disk drives to your computer.
    Open Aperture and create the vaults you need, assigning a hard disk to each vault.
    Update the new, empty vaults with copies of the Aperture library.
    Disconnect one of the vault hard disks and take it to an offsite location for safekeeping.
    When planning the amount of storage space you’ll need, estimate the amount of disk space needed to hold your existing digital images (photos you plan to import into Aperture) and the amount of space you might need for new projects. For example, RAW images typically require 8 to 25 or more megabytes (MB) of disk space per file. Estimating the number of photos in a typical project and the number of projects you usually create in a year, you can make a rough estimate of what might represent a year’s storage space.

  • Java arrays - can you name the keys?

    i have 1 function that declares 2 ArrayLists of type String. They are the same size and the values are related. Let's call them A & B.
    I was hoping i could have my function return just 1 array, with the values of arraylist A being they keys of the returned array, and the values of arraylist B being the values in the returned array.
    But can you name the elements of an array in java? in php you can, but in java, the only examples i have seen only use the standard #'s: 0, 1, 2, 3, etc. if you can, please post sample syntax.
    i guess i could use a double scripted array, but... well i don't exactly know what the sytax would be for that in declaring the funciton.
    if someone has a link of these kinds of examples / topics they could send me - that would be great too - i googled it but haven't really come across any.
    thanks in advance

    It appears as though what you are trying to do is associate a specific "key" value with another value. For example, let's say you want the word "dog" to be the key for the arraylist value of "bull dog."
    The perfect data structure for this that Java provides is called a Map. Here is some sample code.
    //create something called a HashMap where the first
    //value is the key, and the second value is the value
    //that the key is associated with
    HashMap<String, String> map = new HashMap<String, String>();
    //now, consider the previous example...
    //here is the syntax for storing those values
    map.put("dog", "bull dog");
    //and this would be the syntax for getting a value
    String value = map.get('dog");
    //which would give "bull dog"
    {code}
    Hope that helps :)

  • Is there anyway to organize icloud photo steams into abc order? and can you change the key photo image??? makes me crazy!

    I am searching for ways to organize my photo streams...alphabetical preferably.
    Also how do you change the key photo from something random that i did not choose to be the key photo (in the photo stream/icloud mode).
    Thank you!
    sue

    As far as I can see, sue, the shared Photo Streams will always show the photo last added as the key photo. So just make sure the last photo you add is a photo like to see as the key photo. I do no know of any method to arrange the photo streams alphabetically. My photo streams are neither shown in chronological order nor in the order I created them.

  • Can you move the capture scratch?

    Can it be moved to an external hd  where it should have been in the first place?.  The project and sequence are already half way done.  Thanks.

    Yes, Move the physical Directory with files to whatever drive you need to move to. Then, I believe (by memory, hopefully this is right), you click on "System Settings" and then point Audio/Video/Autosaves, etc... to the new drive and folder location.

  • Can you move the windows installer folder using junctions?

    I have been reading blogs and articles for quite some time now relating to the controversy between what many users see as wasted disk space for windows installer cache and Microsoft techies who claim that cleaning this folder can cause irreparable system
    damage.
    my question has anyone ever simply tried moving this folder to another drive and than linking it to the windows folder using a junction?? I have never tested this myself but in theory it should work as you could keep the folder on an external storage device
    which would be accessed only when installing or uninstalling a program. from experience the os doesn't generally know the difference between the actual folder and a junction point so the required directory structure for all intents and purposes would technically
    be there.
    if anyone has ever done this successfully please let me know what your results were ?

    Hi Mike,
    Based on my knowledge, you can move windows installer directory using junctions. Please follow the steps below.
    Download Junction from
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896768.aspx.
    CopyC:\windows\installer to X:\installer (X represents a new location).
    Delete all the file in C:\windows \installer.
    Close all Explorer windows.
    Run>cmd>C:\junction C:\windows\installer X:\installer.
    Thanks!

    I tried this on my Windows XP SP3: moved C:\WINDOWS\Installer folder to other partition (E:\Installer) following steps described here. After this I've launched an ordinary MSI file to install an application. During installation
    Windows Installer deleted all contents of E:\Installer and re-created C:\WINDOWS\Installer as a folder (not a junction).
    Hope it works correctly for Windows 7...

  • J2ME: can you clear the key pressed buffer on a cell?

    I am having trouble with keypressed.
    I am writing a cell phone game in MIDP 2.0. Basically its the standard GameCanvas setup, where you have a main game loop and it calls your input function. The input function then does:
    int keyStates = getKeyStates();
    keyprocessing
    to get the states.
    When I demo it on the color phone in WTK2.0, and tap the right arrow, and my input loop processes the right multiple times. My initial thought was that the loop ran too fast perhaps and it read the press several times, so I put in a delay before keyprocessing:
    int keyStates = getKeyStates();
    long time = System.currentTimeMillis();
    if ((time - timeOfLastInput) < MIN_TIME_INPUT)
    return;
    keyprocessing
    timeOfLastInput = System.currentTimeMillis();
    Now, I have cut it down to only going in a direction once. However, if I press up, down, left, right, (in honor of Konami) My input goes as follow Up (delays MIN_TIME_INPUT) then Down, delays again, left, delays, right.
    And so I am out of ideas.

    haha, this is interesting... a month ago, i had the same problem, until i flash of intellect put me out of my misery...
    rule 1: dont use the time delay. with the processor speed of the cell phones, with your delay, it will take a decade before the app runs...
    heres how to do the coding to keep it to only 1 step at a time: ( i do it in the run method of the thread)
    int originalKey = 0; // keeps the keystates once the execution completes once
    int key = 0; // keeps the keystates for comparision
    while(isRunning) {
        key = getKeyStates();
        if(key == originalKey) {
            originalKey = 0;
            continue;
        if( (key & LEFT_PRESSED) != 0) {
            // do what you want to do, or who you want to do
            originalKey = key;
    // do the same for right pressed and etc etc... this will keep your code from executing too many timesheheh... i think i deserve a few dukes...

  • Can you move the screen menus from dvi port 1 to dvi port 2 - tweak?

    Ive a 30 inch display and a 20 inch connected to my g5 - its two dvi connectors but only port 2 sends a max res to the 30" where the dvi port 1 sends around half the res options.
    The 30" looks daft on a small res - so I need to plug it into port 2 to get it right, but this means that my computer all runs off a tiny 20" - what can I do other than turn off the the second screen till I get a fix?
    cheers guys!

  • Can you move a video taken on the iPad from the camera roll to 'Videos' without syncing through iPhoto?

    Pretty simple question that I can not figure out the answer to. Can you move a video taken on the iPad from the camera roll to 'videos' on the go?

    I can do it on my iPhone and, according to the iPad manual (p. 58), you can do it on an iPad.
    Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
