Can you open a keynote presentation in PowerPoint and vice versa?

I've opened a powerpoint presentation in Keynote but had trouble opening a Keynote in Powerpoint.  I wasn't sure if it was just that particular keynote or is does it just not work.  I know some formatting sometimes get lost.  What's the quality like when doing both?

Sorry, just to be clear...
You cannot open keynote in Powerpoint.
But you can open a powerpoint in Keynote.
Correct?
Yes correct
I'm not sure what you mean by "you must export to powerpoint in keynote to convert files".  How do you do that?

How can you see a Keynote presentation in a PC?

Keynote files must be converted on the Mac within Keynote then exported to Powerpoint which can then be used on a PC. There is a free Powerpoint Viewer for Windows available for users who dont have Powerpoint on their PC.

  • How can I open my keynote files in powerpoint?

I just got Keynote. Igot it thinking that it was compatible with PPT files, but I am running into the deadends in which a converter is required to boot the program. Can anyone out there help me?

You can import a ppt into Keynote simply by opening it the same way you would open a keynote file, though not all transitions/layouts/embedded media and the like may import smoothly.
To export a Keynote presentation as a ppt, from the menu bar: Share > Export > ppt

  • Can't open new keynote presentation

I just created a new keynote presentation and have the most recent updates on keynote. But I receive a notice that I "need a newer version of keynote to open this document."
    What's the problem?

You have two versions of Keynote; the previous version 5 (which lives in Applications > iWork 09) and the new version 6 which lives in Applications.
You get the "you need a newer version to open" message when a file created in 6 is being opened by 5.
if you right click a version 5 file and select Get Info, in the Open with section select Keynote 5,
    then click change all.
Perform a similar exercise on a version 6 file but select open with Keynote 6.

  • Can you open a document in Photoshop cs6 and automatic have it open in print size

I work in 500 photos a day and print size helps me out. is there a way to have the document open in print size to save me a step?

It's possible. That would be called an Event Script. and it would be placed in the Event Scripts Only folder under Scripts in the Presets folder.
Then you would open Photoshop and go to File > Scripts > Event Scripts Manager to have this script run each time you open a file.
The problem is to find a script that already does this or ask someone to write it for you.
    You can ask in: http://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop/photoshop_scripting

  • How can I export a keynote presentation as Powerpoint?

I keep getting an error message that "part of the file is missing" in Powerpoint. I've successfully exported before, but this is a long presentation with lots of pictures and video.
Help, please? I really don't want to have to start again from scratch in Powerpoint. I like Keynote oh so much better... (at least I did until this happened...)
    Thanks!

Nothing personal, Russell - 'cause you HAVE helped me in the past - that advice doesn't help me in the slightest.
OS X 10.6.7 will not even let me choose MS PowerPoint 2011 as an "Open With ... " option. It is greyed out. Older versions are available - but no success.
As recently as February of this year I successfully saved essentially the same presentation as a .ppt. So something has changed with either how MS is treating the exported file, or how Keynote is exporting the file.
For right now, I have just exported as a "highest quality images" .pdf for my remote audience. They can view it full-screen (it's a simple presentation - no animation, no embedded sound nor video, no show notes).

  • Can't open my keynote presentation due to icloud drive

    Hi,
I have an error when trying to open my presentation that I saved on icloud:
"Sorry icloud drive is not compatible with maverick.. please update to Yosemite"
a week ago it was working perfectly.
    - It appears that Yosemite can't be downloaded
    - I tried to contact the apple support but the chat doesn't work... and you can't go back to choose another method to call apple care.
    - I can't use my office number because apple doesn't handle phone extension.
    - When finally reached them they said that I was calling the wrong service: iphone/ipad. So they hangout...
I used an old presentation for my conference. Thank you apple, hopefully I subscribed to apple care.
By the way the last version of keynote save as folder. Which isn't practical for sharing.

Use your backup file you saved on your local hard drive, iCloud is not reliable for storing files.

  • How can you view your keynote presentation on the IPOD?

    Hi,
I would just like an alternate way of placing my powerpoint presentations on my ipod.
Okay, I work extra hours and I do not have time to study, so I found it useful to create a powerpoint slideshow of the vocabulary I needed to learn and put it on my ipod. However in powerpoint, I would have to save it as a movie, then edit in imovie where I would add music and then share it with my ipod and then I could review it on the bus. The only think is that not all the transitions in powerpoint translate well when saved as a movie in powerpoint. When you add music in the presentation before choosing the "make movie" option, it plays the song for one slide in Quick time and then shifts to the other slide. So I had to just make my slide show really simple with the basic timings and then add the music in imovie. But that was last year, when I had lots of time to create these long vocabulary lists.
This year, I don't have as much time and I want to spend less time creating this because it takes a little while to do everything. So I was wondering is there a function in Keynote that allows you to just share or export your slideshow to your ipod without having to go through all the other steps?
Thanks for your advice, suggestions or answers in advance.

Go to Settings>Store and sign out of existing account and sign into the one you wnat.

  • Can't Open a Keynote Presentation - Says "Presentation Can't be Opened"

I have one presentation . . . The one I need next week.  HA!  I was halfway through creation - Went back after a meal, tried to open . . . Box Popos Up says, "Presentation Can't Be Opened"
    Any help would be apprecieated.
    I tried:
Shutting down the program via double click and swipe close
    Copying (same thing)
    ReStarting the ipad
    Resetting the ipad
    THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP

You'll need to Compress or Archive the file before attempting to FTP. FTP files are actually "folders" with all the info needed to recreate the presentation. Because where you're FTP-ing to probably won't understand how this file system works, it's best to Right-Click on the .key file then choose "Compress" or "Archive" and send that .zip file that gets created.

we are implementing  BusinessObjects 4.0 and in the process of documenting road map for promotion. BusinessObjects does not have Import Wizard so we will be using LCM for all our promotions.
Since we are not able to determined whats inside the biar files by looking at the binary files, is there any way using LCM we can figure out whats laying inside the Biar file? before doing the promotion.
I am assuming if its not possible than we are basically trusting the developer, and need to keep good documentation of this process?

  • Can I highlight and post-it-note a pdf on a tablet and then open it later on my laptop (and vice-versa)?

Thank you for your time and clear answers.
Obviously I would save it and then transfer it to my laptop.
One more thing: I am interested in purchasing a tablet primarily for reading PDFs (often scanned books and articles).  But I must be able to highlight/notate (not edit) these pdfs and then re-open them to do the same on my laptop.  If you have any recommendations for less expensive Tabs for this job, I would be interested (as well as your recommended screen size).  But my first question is really the important one (I won't buy a tablet if it is not possible/easy).
    Thank you for your expertise!

    Hey,
For you first question I would say that yes you can highlight a PDF on a tablet and then open it on laptop.
Secondly, if you ask which tablet is less expensive, then I must tell you that there is no connection of the tablet purchase on the basis of your needs.
This is because Adobe Reader can be installed as a free app on a tablet for serving your purposes of reading, annotating PDF documents easily and at free of cost.
Hope this information is relevant for you.
Let me know if you have further queries.

  • *** Can't get my phone to recognize G5 and vice versa

I have a G5 with a newly acquired Bluetooth adaptor (D-Link DBT-100). I'm trying to get the G5 to recognize my bluetooth enabled cellphone but haven't had success. I'm using a Sony Ericsson Z600.
Any ideas on what to do? Is it likely settings on the phone or on the G5?
    Thanks in advance!

Do you see a small lock icon with an arrow encircling it on the status bar, to the left of the battery meter?  If so, the phone is in portrait lock mode.  Double click the home button to show the "multitasking" apps bar, slide it to the right and touch the portrait lock icon (at the left) to unlock.
If you don't see the portrait lock icon on the status bar, reset the phone: press both the home and on/off buttons for at least 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears.
FYI:  "Turn sideways" means landscape mode.
FYI2:  You can't have an iPhone 3G with iOS 5.1.1 as your profile says.  The highest iOS installable on the 3G model is 4.2.1.  Do you have an iPhone 3GS?

  • If I buy a TV series on Apple TV, can I watch it on my Mac? And vice versa?

I want to purchase a TV series. I wanted to make sure I would be able to watch it on all my devices. Also, is it better to purchase through itunes on the Mac or through Apple TV? Or does it even make a difference?
    Thanks

In theory it should not matter whether you purchase on AppleTV or Mac (except for rentals which made on AppleTV are for that only), so long as you use the same AppleID you should be able to transfer purchases via USB or play from the cloud on recent iOS devices.
Movies are not available in the cloud in most countries except USA.
In practice I would recommend purchasing in iTunes.
I've bought a few individual TV Show episodes on the AppleTV - some have then allowed a 'Complete my Season' in iTunes, others haven't even though the indiviudal episodes list as purchased.
My preference tends to be to buy and download and backup via iTunes - and then stream locally from itunes or the cloud to AppleTV.
I think it's wise to make a local copy and backup of a show in case it gets removed from iTunes Store and is no longer available in the cloud.  A bit of me is starting to think however that for the small number of shows you might lose the monetary value might be offset by the times and cost of backup media if you absolutely had to purchase the show again in itunes (season changed subtly and no longer available) or on optical media.

  • Will I be able to open my keynote presentation on my schools computers, which use powerpoint? This is my final project for school so it's important that this works.

Will I be able to open my keynote presentstion in powerpoint. I need to give a powerpoint presentation to a panel of my teachers and my school only uses powerpoint. If I do it in keynote will it transfer over easily or should I just borrow my moms laptop and do it in powerpoint?

You can export a Powerpoint version of your presentation from Keynote using:
    Share > Export > Powerpoint
Ensure that the fonts, builds and transitions used, are both available on the computer and in Powerpoint or there will be issues playing back.
If you want a better guarantee of compatibility create the presentation in Powerpoint.

  • Can I open iPad keynote and iPad pages on a PC Microsoft word and a PC Microsoft PowerPoint? also the other way around?

Can I open iPad keynote and iPad pages on a PC Microsoft word and a PC Microsoft PowerPoint? also the other way around?

Yes. You can export iPad Pages and Keynote files as Word and PowerPoint files and you can upload/transfer/email Word and PowerPoint files to the iPad and work on them in Pages and Keynote.
Be advised that there will be some degree of formatting issues and also that the iOS versions of Pges and Keynote do not the full functionality of Word and PowerPoint on a computer.
