I asked apple and they said it is not true because you can use the comp with the power adapter and battery together or either by itself and it will not effect the 2.16 gig. Thank you.
If you remove the battery the CPU power will be cut by 50% (whatever they told you) so that there's no lack of power or overheating issues. It's best to always keep the battery in.

I do not know the iWire adapter, but I use an inexpensive ($3) DVI to HDMI adapter from Monoprice, along with a regular HDMI cable:

Be aware that this will only transfer video. You Macbook Pro cannot combine audio through DVI to HDMI. You will need to listen to the audio through the Mac speakers, or attach speakers or a sound system to the Mac earphone jack, or determine if your TV has the ability to accept external sound from the Mac while showing video through HDMI (few can). -
Where can I find one of those soft silicone body covers (not hardshell) for the Mac Book Pro? And is this a good idea since Apple no longer makes them? I-phones use them now.
Personally I use the Speck hard case on both of my MacBooks and they are the greates! Look around on Amazon and eBay and you can find them for $30-40. I wouldn't really recomend a silicon case for a macbook, but it's your preference.

I'm not sure where on the internet or which store you mean -- but if you mean an Apple advertisement on the internet and an Apple Store, note that there was an ad for MacBooks that showed them with a variety of stickers but Apple does't sell the stickers and not all of the ones shown in the ad were commercially available. -

That is probably a lot of stuff you do not want on your iPhone. So this can be handled a few different was. For you current situation, you can delete the apps directly on your iPhone by holding on the app until it starts to jiggle and then tap on the X of all the apps that you do not want. The second thing you can do is before you sync with iTunes, look at the app section on your iPhone to know what gets transfer to it and you can deselect items that you do not want. Lastly, if you download content on your iPad and it is a universal app, you can actually download it directly to your iPhone by looking at your past purchases and download it directly from the App Store. We are in indonesia travelling and after downloading and installing Yosemite, on our next restart the screen went black and responds to nothing. Tried to reboot (shift key) in safe mode after first crashing the system but nothing responds except for the opening chime. Toal disaster so any help will be greatly appreciated. Judging by the comments I have read, Yosemite seems to have many issues for us to look forward to, if and when we can bring back the Mac Book Pro to life.
See if you can boot into the Recovery volume (boot with the Command + R keys held down). There you can reinstall the system.

I am looking to purchase a laptop for my own use (work and personal). I will be editing video, doing photography, and also use it for word processing. Do you recommend the Mac Book Pro 2.4 Ghz? Would there be any compelling reason to invest in the 2.5 Ghz instead? and why?
I assume you intend to get the 15" model?
I can only see 3 advantages of the 2.5 GHz version.
1. Faster processor, but is anyone going to notice that tiny increase ...... it's laughable.
2. Twice as much VRAM but the base model has enough for all the apps in Final Cut Studio 2, so why would you need more unless you are an extremely busy pro .......... but if that were the case you would not be using a laptop. (Cue indignant protests!)
3. 50GB more HD which again is a minute increase. If you are doing video you should ideally keep all your big media files on an external FireWire HD.

Mac for Dummies is a pretty good beginners' guide. But whatever you buy make sure it is a very recent edition, one that is relevant for the operating system on your MBR. The OS is updated regularly and guide books can become out of date.
By the way, iOS is not a Macintosh operating system. On the top left of the Maac screen, click the black Apple icon, then select About This Mac. The operating system is shown there. -
Could not open gmail on the mail application of the mac book pro.
Gmail has two account types, SMTP and Google IMAP.
In both cases failure in trying to log on to SMTP and Google IMAP because I have to verify that the username and password are correct.

First, make sure that all your devices are using the same Apple ID in iMessages including your Mac. Second, your messages that you've already started on your devices will not show up on your Mac - only ones that you start from now on will show up. Third, if you're still not syncing accross all devices, make sure you read the directions on the first page of this thread. It should work after performing those steps. Good luck!
