Can you share kindle books using family sharing?

    Hi Charlie42,
Happy New Year!  The link below explains how you can tell which purchased content is available to share using Family Sharing.   Contact Amazon for more specifics regarding sharing their content.  The Kindle app itself may be shareable, but the books may be considered an In-App purchase, making them not shareable.  Amazon would be able to give you a definitive answer.

Which purchased content can I share using Family Sharing
After you set up Family Sharing, the eligible songs, albums, movies, TV shows, books, and apps purchased by family members will be available to everyone else in the group. Learn what you can share with your family members.
If you turned on Share My Purchases, you can share most content that's also available in iTunes in the Cloud. You can share Music, Movies, and TV shows from the iTunes Store. You can also share Books that you downloaded from the iBooks Store, and apps from the App Store. The availability of each content type depends on your country.
There are a few things that you can't share:
Songs added to iTunes Match from outside the iTunes Store
    In-App Purchases
Items that are no longer available on the iTunes Store
    Items that were hidden
    Apps that aren't shareable
If you're on an Apple TV, you can't access shared music.See if you can share an app
Use these steps to see if you can share an app before or after you get it.
    App Store in iOS 8
Go to the app's description page. Scroll down to the Information section. If you can share it, you'll see Yes next to Family Sharing.
Go to Updates > Purchased > My Purchases. If you can't share an app, you'll see Not Shareable next to its name.
Mac App Store in OS X Yosemite
Go to the app's description page and check the Information section. If you can share it, you'll see Yes next to Family Sharing.
Go to Purchases. If you can't share an app, you'll see Not Shareable next to its name.
    Learn more
If one of your family members received their content through Apple ID for Students, you won’t see it in their shared purchases. This includes apps and other content distributed through the school.
Family Sharing requires a personal Apple ID signed in to iCloud and iTunes. Music, movies, TV shows, and books can be downloaded on up to 10 devices per account, five of which can be computers. iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite are required to set up or join a Family Sharing group and are recommended for full functionality. Not all content is eligible for Family Sharing. Content can be hidden by family members; hidden content is not available for download. Content downloaded from family members or acquired via redemption codes is not subject to Ask to Buy.

  • Amazon Prime instant video using home sharing

I have an IPad 1 and Apple TV.  I would like to view instant streaming videos from Amazon Prime, but only get audio not video through home sharing. Does anyone know a way to fix that?

    Hello,
You mentioned clearing history but not cache and cookies. Please give that a try, if that doesn't work-please tell us your operating system.
Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
Further information can be found in the [[Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox]] article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • Can you still transfer music in home sharing with the 11.1.3 update?

I can't seem to take or give music from the home sharing any more.

The import button is at the bottom of the home share window.
Are you sure you are using home sharing and not just sharing.

  • Can you import personal video's?

If I wanted to upload some personal video's form my computer (windows 7 os) to my iPad.  They are from class (since it is easier to videotape with a digital camcorder than using the ipad.) and I would like to upload them so I can watch them on a larger easier to carry portable screen.

You should be able to import them into iTunes, which often triggers the 'convert' part of iTunes that will make them into something compliant with the iPad. I don't have the exact specs memorized, but the iPad likes MP4 and M4V files. If your files are something else you can use Handbrake, mpegstreamclip or Format Factory (this one is windows only) to convert the formats. All 3 programs are freeware.
If you have the iPad manual handy it'll tell you exactly what formats the iPad prefers.

  • Can you download music to networked home shared labtop?

Ok, I finally got the home sharing to work on my laptop...My itunes is on the desktop computer and I home shared it to my laptop... I updated to the latest version on both.  Now when I burn a new music cd to the desktop computer, it also show up in my library on the laptop.  So say I want to download a song that is on my laptops c drive to my itunes library.. how do I do this?  I tried to do it and it goes straight to the music library... so then I tried to drag it over to my (shared) library, and I get this circle with a red line thro it... I am confused, why won't it let me?  I even backed it up on a cd and it wouldn't go to my shared Library... what is the point of this home sharing?  just to listen to music or what?  Does this mean I will have to do all of my downloading of music on the desktop still?  and you know on the laptop, under file it doesn't even list burn playlist to disc, why not?

For purchased items you can select in settings (next to the import button at the bottom of the Home Share page) to automatically transfer new purchases.
This will not work for ripped CDs. I use the import function.
First select the view in Home Share to Music and then filter it by selecting not in my library. Select the songs I want and click Import

  • TS2972 Can't play TV shows with Home Sharing

I have home sharing turned on on both my home computer (a PC) and my Mac. When I try to play music, it works just fine, but when I try to play TV shows, all I get is a black screen. Help!

We are having this exact same problem - started happening after we did the software update tonight. Have tried restarting, resetting, and all the other obvious tricks. It seemed to work for a minute when we used the iPad ATV remote, but that stopped working after a couple of minutes too.  We can play previews, and iTunes library stuff, but not movies or TV shows purchased via the ATV. We've got a new episode of game of thrones sitting there that we can't play - very frustrating!

  • I cannot import videos using home sharing

I followed the instructions for setting up home sharing on our laptops. One machine is using Windows XP, and the other is using Windows 7. Both have the latest updates for iTunes and both are authorized. I have turned off (and back on) home sharing, I have authorized and deauthorized and then re authorized both computers. I can see libraries on both machines. When I tried to import a video from his machine to mine, it told me that "this machine is not authorized" meaning mine. I am at a loss as to what I am not doing. I have tried to re authorize both machines and get a message box telling me the machine is authorized. Is this a problem in the newest version of iTunes?? I have no idea what to do next. I wanted to put movies on my iPad, and all of our compatible movies are on his machine. Can someone help me out?

  • After latest itunes update i can no longer drag songs using home sharing.

Previously, I was able to open home sharing between my husband (his mac) and my computer (pc).  But after the itunes software update on my pc, the ability to import and drag songs is gone.  I have done it many times before.  I see the home sharing library and can browse through it.  But can't take any action with it.  Can't import to library or to ipod.

With your iPhone connected and selected in iTunes, in Summary pane, select Manually manage music and videos.

  • Can you share purchased books with Home Sharing?

Can you share purchased books (from IBooks) with Home Sharing? Music seems to share fine-books seem to be a problem.

In iTunes go to Preferences > Sharing and either share your entire library or make sure the Books playlist is checked.
You may then need to click the Import button to copy the book into your Library, I was not able to actually read the book without taking that step.

  • Can content be accidently deleted using home sharing?

Thinking of turning on home sharing in my home but can others accidentally delete my music? Not sure how this home sharing works.

  • 2.0 - Can you play Music Videos in a playlist one after another

I'm at work and unable to test. Does the "new" Take2 finally allow users to create their own MTV?

I'm equally disappointed/frustrated. We bought three of these to play easily-updatable video presentations, announcement clips and short films for my church. But it simply won't work for that purpose. Apple TV plays one video, then back to the menu. There's still no way to play any sort of multiple videos in succession, and that just seems ridiculous to me!
There are actually people who take the time to reply to (the many) threads like this one with, "Well, Apple didn't advertise it with that functionality". Wow - that's true, I guess, but when something's a no-brainer, it's a... oh, never mind.
The kiosk market, music video playback, successive short films or home videos shown for parties. Apple has really missed the mark on this. It's a real shame for an otherwise great product.
I guess onto eBay go three Apple TVs.

  • Can you play these videos? I can't

I for some reason cannot play these Flash video's on my Mac. I can play all other Flash video's, however. (Rules out Flash)
I do have the latest Flash version installed, and use Safari 4.0.5., I do also use ClicktoFlash, but even when it's disabled, I still cannot get these to work. (Rules out ClickToFlash??)
    The videos are here:
    http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes/mountainfull_suspension/fuelex/fuelex8/
(click on the "DRCV shock setup" video)
    and also here:
    http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/story/fuel_ex/technology
(click on the "ABP/ABP Race" section)
They either do not play at all, or only play for a few seconds and abruptly stop. Directly downloading the files does not help, either.
When I asked some people on a biking forum if they could view them, they said no problem. I'm assuming they're Windows users, however.
I do notice that this website uses JW Player as its Flash Video player (verified by right clicking on any Flash). Could this be the problem?
Can anyone else verify this problem? Is there any fix, or will I need to view it from my Internet Explorer at work?
    Thanks in advance

    HI,
Perhaps you have a third party plugin that's causing the glitch.
Go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem. Safari: Add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
Make sure Safari is not running in Rosetta. Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info. In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle so it faces down. Where you see Open using Rosetta... make sure that is NOT selected.
Also, check to make sure there's enough free disk space. Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you always have a minimum of 10% to 15% free disk space at all times.
One more thing... login to another user account and see if the problem persists. If not, then the problem is at least isolated to your user account and not a system wide issue.
it says the mp4 file is only 492kb in size. A video 2:32 in length will surely be larger than this.
Not necessarily. The file could be compressed for internet streaming.

  • How can you share Contacts and use Family Sharing?

Still sharing 1apple ID & 1 iCloud from way back when.  Kids were little, syncing was simple... turned off their device iClouds and synced apps, playlist, shows w/ iMac via usb.  I loved having my contacts, bookmarks, notes synced via iCloud and it became VERY handy when kid1 got an iPhone (appointments, practices, friends #s w/ ease!)   We've recently added a macbook and another iPhone to the mix, we've got music issues & iPads ringing.... so a potential overall may be due?
Now that Family Sharing is here, it's still missing features that we USE:
    * Notes (grocery list, packing lists...)
    * Contacts (each family member has a 'group' name, they add to their group and the family's master list is 'all contacts' for anyone to access incase of emergencies.... anyone keeping up w/ kids lately?!)
    * And the ever present iCloud icon is a looming feature for anyone, any age in the shared-family to be too curious...
    * CAN any of these features be added along w/ Family Sharing?
HOW do I set up a simple family sharing system w/o interfering w/ bookmarks, personal notes, FaceTime/msg crossovers :
share our purchases (apps, music from our iTunes/playlists, podcast),
    share our calendar
    share our contacts
    share a family notes
    msgs/facetime for each member
    mom: iphone, ipad, imac
    dad:  iphone
    kid1: iphone, macbook
    kid2: ipad
    kid3: ipad
Thanks to anyone that has this set up and will share the method to my madness.  Didn't know where to post this, sorry about that.

After having burned the AudioCD from iTunes Menu Advanced choose "Submit Track Names ..."
That will put the data of your CD into CDDB.
It may take between some hour and a few days until it is recognized on a second computer through CDDB.
