Can you play these videos? I can't

I for some reason cannot play these Flash video's on my Mac. I can play all other Flash video's, however. (Rules out Flash)
I do have the latest Flash version installed, and use Safari 4.0.5., I do also use ClicktoFlash, but even when it's disabled, I still cannot get these to work. (Rules out ClickToFlash??)
The videos are here:
http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes/mountainfull_suspension/fuelex/fuelex8/
(click on the "DRCV shock setup" video)
and also here:
http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/story/fuel_ex/technology
(click on the "ABP/ABP Race" section)
They either do not play at all, or only play for a few seconds and abruptly stop. Directly downloading the files does not help, either.
When I asked some people on a biking forum if they could view them, they said no problem. I'm assuming they're Windows users, however.
I do notice that this website uses JW Player as its Flash Video player (verified by right clicking on any Flash). Could this be the problem?
Can anyone else verify this problem? Is there any fix, or will I need to view it from my Internet Explorer at work?
Thanks in advance

HI,
Perhaps you have a third party plugin that's causing the glitch.
Go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem. Safari: Add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
Make sure Safari is not running in Rosetta. Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info. In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle so it faces down. Where you see Open using Rosetta... make sure that is NOT selected.
Also, check to make sure there's enough free disk space. Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you always have a minimum of 10% to 15% free disk space at all times.
One more thing... login to another user account and see if the problem persists. If not, then the problem is at least isolated to your user account and not a system wide issue.
it says the mp4 file is only 492kb in size. A video 2:32 in length will surely be larger than this.
Not necessarily. The file could be compressed for internet streaming.

  • 2.0 - Can you play Music Videos in a playlist one after another

    I'm at work and unable to test. Does the "new" Take2 finally allow users to create their own MTV?

    I'm equally disappointed/frustrated. We bought three of these to play easily-updatable video presentations, announcement clips and short films for my church. But it simply won't work for that purpose. Apple TV plays one video, then back to the menu. There's still no way to play any sort of multiple videos in succession, and that just seems ridiculous to me!
    There are actually people who take the time to reply to (the many) threads like this one with, "Well, Apple didn't advertise it with that functionality". Wow - that's true, I guess, but when something's a no-brainer, it's a... oh, never mind.
    The kiosk market, music video playback, successive short films or home videos shown for parties. Apple has really missed the mark on this. It's a real shame for an otherwise great product.
    I guess onto eBay go three Apple TVs.

    I would do if I had them, but I'm afraid I don't have any Xvids
    They should be fine though as long as you convert. If they are good quality on the PC, there going to be good quality on the player basically.

  • HT3775 How do you play MPG videos on the Mac?

    I have a sony vidoe camer which saves videos as MPG files. These are not readable by quicktime, iPhoto or iMovie. How can I convert them to files I can use?

    Thanks QuickTimeKirk,
    . I have downloaded streamclick, but reluctant to shell out $20 unless it is really going to work. The files are MPG not MPEG and MPG is not listed in the file format supported by Streamclick, does it really work?
    I can export to DV MOV and MP4 from streamclick but non of the files is recognised b the Mac. I am running OS 10.7.4.

    Hi:
    I have a number of newer and older music cds that came with bonus dvds attached to the audio cd.  How do i get the video to play on my macbook pro (early 2011) w/ Mountain Lion?
    Thanks!

    Quicktime comes pre-installed on all Macs.  Quicktime 10 should be on your Dock and the original application inside your Application folder.  Quicktime 7 is inside your Utility folder.  VLC is the application that you need to download.

  • I just switched from an HP laptop to a MacAir. I am trying to view videos from within my power points. These were played on Adobe player and shockwave player. Is it safe to install that on a Mac? If not how can I play these?

    I just switched from an HP laptop to a MacAir laptop. I had previously developed a number of powerpoints in which i have video links that require adobe shockwave player. I can no longer play them on the MacAir. Is it safe to download the Adobe player? If not how can I play these videos now?

    Adobe players are safe.  Go to adobe.com and their site should detect the latest version for your hardware.

    Please help (my computer knowledge is limited).

    The short answer is you should be able to, but tell us what happens when you try and we'll try to help.
    Can you play the video on your Mac's screen (not connected to the TV)?
    When you connect to the TV with HDMI, do you see a desktop appear? (Before you start the movie.)
    What kind of movie are you playing, and from where?

  • Mapped Drive to a OS X Shared Folder won't play purchased videos in iTunes

    I have a MacBook Pro sharing out a folder where all my purchased movies are stored. I've got a Vista box to which I've added the full library. All the music has shown up, but none of the movies or TV shows. They won't play from the shared directory.
    If I move the files locally, they play fine, so there must be some permissions issue with the files. I can read/write to the directory.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Play local videos one after the other

        Hi - I'm setting up 10 videos locally in Dreamweaver to play one after the other.  By local I mean everything is on a the computer and you just open up the HTML page in Chrome and it works.  When the HTML opens in Chrome, I got the first video to auto play and loop too.  But after video #1 ends, I need it for the 2nd video to start, then third, and so on until the 10th is over then it goes back to #1 again.
    The code I have on the local HTML page is and it works for one video is:
    <video width="720" height="406" controls autoplay loop>
      <source src="1E.mp4" type="video/mp4">
      <object data="1E.mp4" width="720" height="406">
      </object>
    </video>
    ...but I just can't figure out how to get the other 9 videos in there so they play after #1 then loop back to #1 again.
    Does anyone have any idea how to do this?  Thanks.

    Hooking up the computer to the TV is the easy part :-)
    I tried getting a windows media playlist set up and although I like that player, it seemed difficult to make a simple playlist in it.  Unless I wasn't reading the instructions correctly, I couldn't get it to work.
    I also like QT but it seems like you need to buy the QT Pro version as the basic player doesn't seem to allow for playlists (unless i'm missing something).
    If I could get either of the above to work and play these videos locally over and over I'm set.  But because I had problems with WMV and you have to pay for QT Pro that's why I'm trying to build something locally in DW.

  • Are you having iTunes video playback problems?

    Do you have iTunes Store-bought videos whose playback is terrible, all choppy and full of freezes while playing back in iTunes?
    Have you copied one of those iTunes videos to a thumb drive and had it play back perfectly?
    This problem is not fixed by any of the Quicktime adjustments that Apple suggests on their "how to fix video playback issues" page, and, aside from this video playback issue, iTunes is working fine on my machine. As I said, the videos work fine, too, if played from a thumb drive instead of the hard drive.
    This has been going on for weeks, and people have been posting about it here on the forum, but, to my knowledge, there's no fix. Just silence.
    It might be useful if people who are seeing this problem post some information about their systems. For all I know, all of us who are seeing this problem have one particular vendor's computer.
    The computer I am having this problem with is a new HP laptop that came with Vista. This one:

    2048MB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 (UMA)
    120GB 5400RPM (SATA)
    I think the problem has to do with SATA, but I don't really know, except that my computer has it and I am able to play these videos perfectly from a thumb drive but not the SATA hard drive.
    If you are having this problem, please consider posting your computer's info. Thanks.

    OK, I figured it out... I too have a dv6000 with Vista and I have been trying to fix this terrible itunes video playback thing and this is what I found. For whatever reason the NVidia driver in the dv series doesn't play nice with Vista. They say that they are looking into it but have no response other than that. Somehow the data from the hard drive isn't fast enough. So, reading this I figured that if that REALLY is the problem that I could use a external drive and have the videos come from there, and Voila!! It works like a charm, no skipping, no stalling, no more blue screens. I hope this is helpful, I know what a pain this can be.
    ALSO, apparently some think that you can't watch itunes video while using Vista's "ReadyBoost". I haven't had that issue personally, but I have seen a lot that have who disabled it and had it work fine.
    Let me know if this works for everyone else.

  • IPod losing place in music playlist when play a video

    I had this issue on my Nano 3G & 4G as well.
    When listing to a music playlist the iPod looses its place in the playlist as soon as you play a video (music video, movie, tv show, etc). This means that you have to start the playlist from the beginning or move on the next one. I have most my music collection organised into 9 playlists with currently ±400 songs each.
    Is there perhaps a setting that I can use for my iPod Touch to "remember" where it was in a playlist even after playing a video?
    This is my only frustration with the iPod Touch, which I otherwise consider to be the best there is!

    I'm having this problem too.  I use my iPhone 4 to listen to audiobooks that I rip from CDs.  I make playlists with 100-200 tracks, and listen on my phone via headphones on my bike and at work, and through the aux jack in my car.  This worked great with iOS 5.  I could start & stop the book any number of ways, and it wouldn't lose my place.  Pulling the headphones out, using the headphone pause button, double-clicking the home button from the lock screen, etc all worked without losing my place.
    I recently upgraded to iOS 6.1.2, and every time I plug back in and hit the headphone play/pause button, or the play/pause from the lock screen, I'm several tracks behind where I last left off.  I spend the next 5 minutes trying to find my place in the audiobook.  This is very frustrating because it worked so well in iOS 5, but is broken in iOS 6.
