Can you produce Microsoft documents or alter Microsoft documents using an ipad, Can you produce Microsoft documents or alter Microsoft documents using an ipad

I apologise in advance for having so many questions, but I am considering purchasing an Ipad and these answers will help me to come to a decision on whether to purchase or not and if I purchase whether I need a 4g enabled ipad or wifi only.
1)  Is there an app to enable you to produce Microsoft documents ie word document, excel documents etc using an ipad?
2)  Is there a facility to be able to amend a Microsoft created document using an Ipad?
3)  If I sent a document that was created using an Ipad via an email to anyone who only uses a Windows computer, would they be able to read it?
4)  What app would I need to be able to use any software that normally requires adobe flash player?
5)  I tether my Iphone to my Windows based laptop using a USB cable.  How would I be able to tether my Iphone to my Ipad?
6)  Once tethered would it use my Iphone's unlimited 3g network or the wifi network?
Thank you

You can’t open the application “MFI_Simulator.exe” because Microsoft Windows applications are not supported on OS X. Can someone assist. I have Office 2011 on my MacBook Pro, OS X, 10.9.1.

Your Office 2011, though a Microsoft product, is designed to work with OSX the Mac operating system.  Any program/application ending .exe is an executable program for Windows.  It will only work in Windows and is not part of or openable with Microsoft Office.
the application you want to open needs Windows - you have a couple of alternatives:
Open it on a Windows PC
Install a valid version of Windows via Bootcamp (or Parallels or VM Fusion) which will allow you to boot your Mac into Windows where it will function like a Windows PC and you can use it to run the application.
See if the manufacturers of MFI_Simulator have a Mac version available.
Please note that if you follow the second option, then you will need to purchase a copy of Windows (if you do not have one already). BootCamp is free (part of OSX) but Parallels and VM Fusion cost too.  I see quite a few posts from people who buy Parallels and try to run the program under Parallels - this doesn't work - you need to install Windows as well.
    Hope this helps.

Dante font used in manuscript … when I try to save as a pdf document in Microsoft Word whole pages change their look, with wide gaps forming between certain paragraphs or sections. This does not happen with other fonts.

    OK, we've got it!
What is happening is that when you use Microsoft's save as PDF in Word, the font isn't embedded even though the font is tagged to allow embedding. Furthermore, Microsoft doesn't properly put the font name into the PDF file such that Acrobat or Reader can readily find the font installed on your system such that the text can be properly displayed and/or printed. Acrobat and Reader attempt to display and/or print the text using a “substitution font” and of course, as they say, YMMV (“your mileage may vary”)!
I personally submitted the report of this problem (both the embedding and the font name problem) to Microsoft. They acknowledge the bug, tried a fix and provided me a build with it, but it wasn't right. Maybe they will ultimately fix it, maybe they won't. We don't know yet. We do know that if it is fixed, it will be fixed only for Office 2013 (problem occurs with all Office applications since they use the same PDF generation code) and thus such a fix won't help you.
Adobe Acrobat Standard and Acrobat Pro  both provide an Adobe PDFMaker plug-in to Office applications (including full support for Office 2010) that adds an Acrobat Toolbar as well as a Save as Adobe PDF menu item. The resultant PDF file fully supports embedding of OpenType CFF, TrueType, and Type 1 fonts and in many other ways produces much superior PDF with a full range of PDF generation options not available with the Microsoft PDF. (Note that beginning with Office 2013, Microsoft does not support Type 1 fonts in Office documents at all, even for existing documents!) The Acrobat Office functions are widely used and respected in the end user community and whatever “issues” there are (all software has “issues” of some type - it is a matter of how many and how severe), you should be in much better shape for PDF production that with what you currently are using.
Good luck and let us know if this resolves your problems. (Note that you can download and install a free fully-functional 30 trial of Acrobat Pro to assure that it meets your needs! You can then buy a license and activate what you already have installed.)

I have a new iPad and I'd like to upload my Microsoft Office from my MAC desktop so I can sync them.  Is that possible?

Boyd is correct.  You cannot install your Mac OS MS Office to the iPad and there is no official MS Office app.
I am assuming you want to edit Office documents on youy iPad.  There are three apps that I would recommend you looking at.  Please note that no app is going to give you the same experience as a desktop app.
    1) Documents To Go by Dataviz - This is the one I have used since my Palm days.  You can edit Word, Excel and Power Point documents. There are two versions.  The basic one ($9.99) allows you to edit Word and Excel documents.  The Premium version ($16.99) allows you to edit Word, Excel and Power Point documents.  It also allows you to use Google Docs, Dropbox, Box.net, iDisk and Sugarsync.
    2) Quickoffice is another popular choice. ($14.99) I do not have personal experience with this one, but alot of people have said it is a good app.
    3) The last one is Office^2 ($7.99 http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/id364361728?mt=8)  Again I do not have personal experience with this one, but he has gotten some good reviews.
If you are want an app to just view your documents, I would highly recommend looking at Goodreader for iPad.  It allows you to view many types of file.  It will also allow you to annotate PDF documents.
    Good luck!!

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? (For example, 8007000B.)

OK.  If both of you are Windows 7.  Make sure you go to Windows update (START button, type in Windows Update). Check for updates and update whatever that are available. (especially Microsoft .NET Framework 4 )
After that see if you still get this error message.
The last resort would be to unistall and reinstall the whole thing.
    Follow the steps below:
    1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
    2. You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:
it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
    iTunes
    QuickTime
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Follow the instructions from Apple article listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to remove all components
    3. Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and install from scratch

  • On iPad can I open a Microsoft word file with apple pages app?

On iPad, can I open a Microsoft word file with apple pages application?  If so how do I perform this activity?

Yes you can open Word files. If it is an email attachment you can simply tap and hold down on the icon and select "open in" and then select Pages - as long as you have the Pages app on the iPad.
Where is the file on your iPad or how do you want to move it to the iPad?

Eh? Documents is a folder. You keep your documents in it. Or do you mean this thing...
That's the Trash, it's where you put stuff that you no longer want.
Yes, you are suppose to empty it occaisionally.

    Hi,
Please firstly take a look at the documentation:
    IDbCommand.ExecuteReader
    Method
Users do not create an   instance of a
DataReader   class directly. Instead, they obtain the
    DataReader   through the
ExecuteReader   method of the Command   object. Therefore, you should mark
    DataReader   constructors as internal.
You need to use this method to get the IDataReader object, all the IDbCommand and IDataReader are in the Microsoft.ReportingServices.DataProcessing namespace. There's another IDataReader object which is in System.Data namespace, but they're actually two different
objects, that's why you got the exception.
For how to properly implement this Microsoft.ReportingServices.DataProcessing.IDataReader, please check this documentation:
Implementing a DataReader Class for a Data Processing Extension
It also provides code samples there.

Use Office for Mac 2011.  If you have it, open one of the programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and do Help > Check for Updates from the menu.
Otherwise, purchase Office 365 and use that.

  • My document is blank when I open it in Pages, you can see it in page preview but I can't edit or anything, help?

Please can anyone help?  I am opening a saved file which I can see in the template, but when I open it the page is blank.  When I go to print I can see it there but I can't edit or anything!!!

I posted this on some other threads, but here you go. Try this, worked for me.
if I understand it right, is this what you had?
I could see the contents of Pages & Numbers files is previews, but they were blank when opened. Apple tech support--in an hour long call--managed to find a fix for my issue. I hope it works for you.
Concurrently to the seemingly blank files, my computer happened to be  slowing down & stalling a lot, but while related to the problem, I don't know that this is a necessary symptom of anyone else's.
We deleted all the cache files in the ~/Libary/Caches folder, & emptied the trash. It said some files were in use, so we restarted and finished the trash disposal. Then we started up Pages & Numbers, and it was all good!  My computer went back to its normal snappy responses too.
I am sure someone could possibly narrow down which cache files might be causing an issue. But give this a try.
By the way, I am running Pages 9, on Mountain Lion 10.8.4 (recently updated) on a MacBook Pro. Disk Utility found preferences and disk verify normally. Activity Monitor showed no excessive CPU use and there was no shortage of  hard drive space. The problem was reproducable in safe mode. Deleting plists for iWork had no positive result. As for the slowdown, sometimes the computer would get stuck in spinning beach ball mode for a while, or freeze. The only think that worked was the cache purge.
    Good luck!

why can't i open an attached document (most often pps) with firefox when i can with internet explorer?

Perhaps if you change your setting here:
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Applications tab
In the search box, type '''power''' and then pause until the list is filtered. If you have these, try changing the action to "Always Ask":
    Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation<br>
    Microsoft PowerPoint Slide Show
It's possible that if you don't have Microsoft Office installed, you might not have those listed.
