Can you purchase from a US iTunes store if you are in Australia???

I just want to rent or buy a movie that is available in the US iTunes store, but not available over here in Australia..
Does anybody know how I'd go about doing that or if it's even possible??
Thanks heaps... Paula

The USA iTunes Store requires that you have a billing address in the USA and be physically located in the USA.

I'm sure this question has been asked before!!! Is there a way I can purchase TV shows from the US iTunes from the UK?

Sorry... But... You cannot use other Countries iTunes Stores.
You must be within the Country with a Valid Billing Address and Credit Card for that Country to use the iTunes Store of that Country..

  • I am a Brit living in Germany. I really need to be able to purchase from the German iTunes Store (in €) and the English one (in £). How can I set this up from my iPad?

I am a Brit living in Germany. I really need to be able to purchase from the German iTunes Store (in €) and the English one (in £). How can I set this up from my iPad?

Technically correct (the best kind of correct)
Now if the Op has and retains a UK account with billing address and UK paymant card - He/She can continue to use the UK store in Germany - Apple does NOT use IP address blocking just a valid paymant card attached to a postcode !
Basically the first four of your paymant card are country codes.
What the op needs to do if he/she now has a Germany address and payment method (could just be German € value gift cards) is to open a separate German iTunes Account !
On a PC/Mac its very easy to change stores, however iOS has it a bit more difficult.
In fact i would recommend the Op sets up a new German account and credentials on a PC/Mac first.
And doing so just means opening the store in iTunes scrolling to the bottom of the screen and clicking on the littler circular flag in the bottom right.
After that the browser window is populated with loads of similar disc flags. Clicking any take you to that regional store where provided you have a valid address (Postcode/Zipcode actually) and payment method local credit/debit some prepayment VISA cards or just a gift card you can create a local account.
Oh and because Apple do NOT use IP addressing you don't actually have to be present in the country of that store. Its against to terms of the EULA but it works !
    Back to the iOS device
Tap Settings/iTunes & App Store /Apple ID (that will probably be showing the UK account set up).
In the window that opens tap log out
Now  change the ID to the new German name and password and in the next window make sure the flag selected is that of Germany (when in Germany)
When buying from the UK store follow that path again log out of the German account and re-log in using the UK ID
As it happens I have a UK Portuguese and US account all active because I have residences in all three - and can visit any of the stores from anywhere.

How come I can buy foreign books through Amazon as e-book, but the same book can't be downloaded from iTunes? That doesn't makes sense.
Why would you think that all stores would have the same policy?
Amazon allows it, iTunes does not.  That is why.  Like most companies, Apple does not forward explanations to al of their decisions to the general public.  It does not have to make sense to you, for it to be true.  Apple has teams of experts that have determined that this is how they should conduct their business.
With iTunes, you cannot use other countries stores.

  • Cannot purchase from the Australian iTunes Store while working overseas

I'm an Australian currently working in Papua New Guinea. I tried to make a purchase on the iTunes Store (Windows) and it keeps asking me to verify my credit card Security Code which I did but it tells me "For assistance, please contact iTunes Support". Upon contacting Apple Support, I was told that I have violated the iTunes Store Terms and Conditions and was asked to read http://www.apple.com/legal/itunes/us/sales.html. The two Apple Support representatives I have spoken with refused to tell me what part of the Terms and Conditions I have violated and basically told me to get lost in a polite way.
Now, I find this unacceptable. Firstly, if Apple thinks I have done something wrong then it is Apple's responsibility to tell me what I have done wrong. Secondly, I find it unacceptable that as an Australian, I'm restricted from making purchases from the Australian iTunes Store even that I have a valid Australian billing address, a valid credit card that is issued from Australia.
Is someone in the community able to clarify this?

    I can tell you:
"The iTunes Service is available to you only in Australia, its territories, and possessions. You agree not to use or attempt to use the iTunes Service from outside these locations. Apple may use technologies to verify your compliance."

  • Can i buy from the Canadian iTunes store while in America?

I have a Canadian iTunes card and a Canadian iTunes account. I live in Canada, but I am travelling to the United States tomorrow. Will I be able to purchase from the Canadian iTunes store even though I'm in America???

Yes. I am in the UK and when I travel to the US I can still buy from the UK store. It is where you are resident with a credit card registered not where you are physically.

  • Can I buy from the UK itunes store if I live in the US?

This is true only the country in which you reside but if you get a uk proxy you will be good

  • HT1918 Can we use apple I'd to purchase from different country iTunes Store

    Hello apple friends

You can only purchase from your own country's store - to be able to buy from another country's store you need a valid billing address in that country and be in that country when buying from it.
If there are items that you'd like to buy which aren't currently in your country's store then you could try requesting that they be added, but ultimately it's the content provider (app developer, record company, film studio etc) that will have to grant Apple a license to sell it there : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

  • How can I download from other countries iTunes Stores?

I want to download from other countries iTunes stores but I have of course not a credit card for each of these countries and I can use my e-mail address only once (logically )to register. Any chance that I can download from i.E. the French store when I live in the UK?
Thanks for helping me if possible

Unless you can show some form of residency you cannot buy from another country's store. The question on cross store purchasing is asked frequently so I'll just quote the most complete answer (courtesy of Dave Sawyer) from the many given:
In order to buy from any given country's iTunes Music Store, you must have either:
    a) a credit card with a billing address in that country, or
    b) a mailing address in that country and a gift certificate or a prepaid card that was bought in that country.
If you cannot fulfill one of these two sets of conditions, you will not be able to purchase from any given country's iTMS.
.......this is due to restrictions placed on Apple by the record companies and other rights holders (who are often completely different from country to country and so all require their own individual negotiations and contracts), not by Apple's choice. And this also applies to all the legal download stores that carry major-label content, not just the iTMS.

  • Purchasing from non-local iTunes Store

I live in Japan and use my credit card to purchase songs etc. from the Japan iTunes store.
If I get someone in the UK to purchase an iTunes gift card for me, can I use that card to purchase songs etc. from the UK iTunes store, without having to register a UK credit card/address?
    -Stuart.

    No.

  • Canadian iTunes account -  Can I buy from the US iTunes store?

I was thinking about getting Apple TV. I checked out the available content in the Canadian iTunes store and it is small for TV series. The US store has all the shows I want to watch. How can I buy from the US store?

Apple seems to know that you are in Canada. If this is from the ip address, then you are out of luck. If it from the CC you opened your Apple account under, then you could always get a US credit card and set up a new account. You'd then be able to buy from the US iTunes store.

  • Can't download songs from iCloud in Canada, purchased from Hong Kong iTune Store

I have an Hong kong apple account. Now I'm in Canada, and I bought a song on iTune store. It was downloaded to my iCloud but I can't get that song from iCloud to my Mac.. Why is that so?? Is that related to the regions I am staying right now?

    Hello holi890
Try signing out of your iTunes account and deauthorize. Once that is done sign in and Authorize the computer to see if that resolves the issue. If it still doing the same thing, then check out the second article to troubleshoot access to the iTunes Store.

  • I can't purchase a movie in iTunes Store

For the last couple of days, I've been trying to purchase a movie (or two) from iTunes Store but it seems to lockup every time. I use a Mac mini 2012 computer as a media base and have purchased dozens of movies from the Store over the years onto this unit.
Simply, every time I select a movie's "Buy..." button, I get the spinning beach ball after a couple of seconds and it ends up spinning indefinitely (or at least 2 hours as far as I've allowed it). I tried 2 different movies. I tried logging out/in to iTunes account. I tried restarting Mac mini.
    Nothing has worked so far?
Not sure why this is happening as it's never happened in the past w/ this very set up.

While you can redownload most past purchases without charge, you can't redownload movies without paying again.  See Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519

  • HT1924 Is there a way to purchase from another countries itunes store ( other than your home country where your registered ) ?

I am looking for a way to be able to purchase form the itunes UK store , currently I use the Australian one and tried changing my country but when I went to purchase the TV shows I wanted it said I was not authorised to use this particular itunes store? Are they not linked? Is there a way to be a more 'global ' itunes customer?
    Thanks

No, you can currently only buy from your own country's store - to be able to buy content from another country's store you need a valid billing address in that country and be in that country when buying from it. You can try requesting that the content that you want to buy be added to the Australian store, but ultimately it's the content providers (in this case the TV companies) that will have to grant Apple a license to sell it there : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

  • How do I purchase from a different iTunes store with the same Apple ID ?

I'm registered with the Australian iTunes store but the song I want is available only on the Norwegian iTunes store.
Clicking the iTunes track link from the artist's website prompts me to change to the Norwegian store, but after I do that and try to download the song it tells me that the logon details are valid only for the Australian store and invites me to register for the Norwegian one.
So, I go through the registration process for the Norwegian store only to be advised by iTunes at the last minute that "The email address you entered is already being used for an Apple Account. If it is yours, you can cancel and Sign In using that Apple Account", which of course contradicts what it told me earlier.
iTunes tests my patience at the best of times, but this seems to be deliberately and unnecessarily complex - I have an Apple ID and they have already got my payment details so what is the problem ?

This is crazy. So instead of the artist getting my 12.00Kr payment for the track, the only choice I have is to acquire it by unofficial means - it's not released here and probably never will be.
    Thanks for the replies.
