  • Can I purchase a gift card?

Can I buy a gift card with a credit card? With my walmart card I tried to buy a prepaid mastercard and it wouldnt let me. Is this always true or does it depend on the merchant/cc company?

You can purchase gift cards with credit cards. Each merchant is different, for example: My experience ~ I went to purchase a gift card at my local Walgreens with my Citi Thank you Preferred card and it wouldn't go through. The cashier tried three times. Citi sent me a text from their fraud department to my cell phone asking me if I authorized this activity - text back one for YES or two for NO. I text back "1 - yes" and they immediately sent me a text back stating - please try again for immediate approval. Now, I was already back in my vehicle when all this was going on. So back to when I was in the store and the Citi card wouldn't go through, I immediately pulled out my BOA visa and it went right though with no issues. So again, yes, you can purchase a gift card with a credit card - but be prepared for the above to happen and have a back up credit card just in case. Hope this helps!

    Hi Fsalicrup,
You should be able to use up to eight Apple Store Gift Cards during checkout on the Apple Online Store.

You can redeem an Apple Store Gift Card at the online Apple Store, by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE, or at any Apple Store. Apple Store Gift Cards can be used only in the United States. With the exception of gift cards, certificates, and iTunes downloads, you can purchase just about anything sold by Apple, including products from both Apple and third-party makers.
You can use up to eight Apple Store Gift Cards at the Apple Online Store or if placing an order over the phone at 1-800-MY-APPLE. You can combine your Apple Store Gift Card(s) with one credit card to pay for your purchase. Simply enter or provide the PIN. On the plastic gift cards, the PIN you need to use can be found on the back under the scratch off area. On the electronic Apple Store Gift Cards, the PIN can be found on the email below the image of the card. Please keep the card in your possession until the order has been processed and delivered.
Note: Apple Store Gift Cards are different and distinct from iTunes Gift Cards.

  • HT201209 Can I purchase iTunes gift cards for people in other countries to use?

Can I purchase iTunes gift cards for people in other countries to use? I have a brother that lives in Vietnam and I want to buy him a gift card that he can use there.  I've read the iTunes gift cards are country specific.

What you have read is correct; gift cards are country specific. So only if iTunes cards are issued in Vietnam, and if they are if you can find a retailer there that sells such cards and would accept an out-of-country credit card, would you be able to purchase a gift card for your brother. The same would apply to any other country.
    Regards.

  • From the USA, how can I purchase a gift card or certificate to give to someone to redeem in the iTunes store of a foreign country?

From the USA, how can I purchase a gift card or certificate to give to someone to redeem in the iTunes store of a foreign country?

No, it means you switch from the US store to the other store. Afterwards you just switch back to the US store. You can theoretically have accounts in many different iTunes stores. Switching is simply logging out of one and logging into another after switching countries. There's a switch country link at the bottom of the iTunes Store.
Personally, it seems it would be much simpler to send a check to all of your friends. Far less trouble than trying to open bank accounts and get credit cards from different countries unless you frequently travel to them and don't mind maintaining cash balances in different banks across the world. Not to mention getting credit cards. Here in Vancouver they won't give me a credit card unless I maintain a $5,000.00 minimum balance in my Canadian checking account. If I did that I'd hardly have much need for the charge card.

  • Can I Purchase iTunes Gift card for US in India

    Hello
I want to Giveaway iTunes Gift Card to my blog readers in US. I am resident of India.
Can I buy iTunes Gift Card(s) online with valid US postal addresse(s) of the winner (s) through my account?
    OR
What is the best way to gift iTunes cards to US resident while I am sitting in India?
    Waiting to hear from you
    Thanks

Sorry, but you cannot purchase iTunes gift cards from outside of the country in which they are sold by any means I know of, since such purchases generally require a US credit card. You can try contacting Apple's corporate marketing group, though, and ask if there's anything they can work out for you:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/corporatesales/
By the way, this forum is for questions about iTunes U, Apple's service for colleges and universities to post educational material in the iTunes Store. You'll be most likely to get help with questions like this if you ask in the general iTunes forums.

  • Can you purchase the iPhone 3GS with cash?

Just like the subject asks, can you buy an iPhone 3GS with cash, or do you need to use a credit card? I'm selling my 3G on Craigslist (for cash, obviously), and would rather just run to the Apple Store and pay with that and save myself a trip to the ATM.

For new customers I believe they need a credit card. But for existing customers you can give them cash and they will put it on a gift card and then swipe the gift card. For some reason, they have to do it like that.

  • HT201209 Where is iTunes code when you purchase online gift card? It is not included in the email to the receiver.

    Support says:
In the text box, enter your 16-digit code which starts with an "X". (If you have an iTunes Gift Card, this is printed on the back of the card).
But no code is included in the receivers email when notifed about the giftcard. And they only way to 'redeem' it is to have a code. Am I missing something?

I just purchased a new MacBook to replace my old one.   I could have sworn my last laptop came with iWork (Pages, Keynote, Numbers), but this one does not have any of the iWork suite included and I have to purchase it for $80!  Good thing it came with a $100 iTunes gift card.  Perhaps I can use this to get the software I need.  I am shocked and really disapointed.   Does this bother anyone else?  I enjoy Mac products, but my wife and I always playfully jab back and forth about Mac vs. PC (she is not a big Mac fan).  I am hesistant to mention this to her as I am sure I will never live it down.   Thanks Mac! *heavily laden in sarcasm*  Any suggestions, commiserating and pointing in the right direction would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

No, I cannot recall ever seeing a new Mac shipped with a fully working version of iWork. Maybe a 'trial' version? Not even sure there. I have always had to purchase these programs if and when required. Apple are already selling their OSs for over $100 less than they used to be. So do you seriously believe that they will just give away every other Software package that they create?
    Good Luck

  • I Live In US  Can I Purchase a Gift Card For Sombody In Canada

Simple enough question. Talked to the itunes support and they said got to the Apple Canada itunes store. I did and when I try and purchase a card it opens my itunes account in the US where you can only buy US applicable cards. I suspect this is a futile effort.
Would appreciate any suggestions on how I might do this.
    Mike

Dave, I understand the restriction, but follow the logic in this example (I hope it's logical. Feel free to punch holes in it). I think it could work (at least for e-mailed, virtual gift cards.)
We have a purchaser with an account in the iTunes store of country A, and a recipient who uses (or would use) the iTunes Store in country B.
    1) The purchaser (in country A) is restricted to buying only gift cards in the online iTunes store of country B. No music, movies, TV shows or anything else copyrighted. Only gift cards. This is merely a matter of programming. Right now, I can go onto the US iTunes store and listen to the 30-second samples of tracks, I can browse the music and movies. I just can't purchase them. Lift that restriction for gift cards. They are geniuses out there at Apple. I'm sure it can be done.
    2) In order for the gift card to be valid and redeemable, the purchaser must enter the e-mail address of the recipient's account - a valid, open account in the iTunes store of country B (meaning the recipient's credit card info is already known to Apple.) This way, Apple knows that the gift card purchased in iTunes store B will be redeemed by someone who has an account in iTunes store B, and therefore any music purchased would be from iTunes store B and the agreement between Apple and the record companies won't be violated. As explained in my last post, it would not be cross-border shopping, either, as the entire transaction (purchase & redemption of the gift card, and the downloading of any copyrighted material after the gift card has been redeemed) would take place in country B.
If the purchaser doesn't know the account address of the recipient, the purchaser can ask the recipient for it. I know, as it's a gift, it kind of ruins the surprise if you have to ask the recipient what their iTunes account address is, but I'd give up that surprise the first time around to be able to give gift cards to friends and family who live in other countries in the future.
    3) If the Recipient doesn't have an account yet, in order to redeem the gift card, the recipient has to open an account on iTunes store B, using the e-mail address the purchaser used to send the gift card. But in order to open the account, the recipient has to enter valid credit card info for purchases in country B's iTunes store. If the recipient can't do that, the gift card isn't valid and the purchaser just has wasted their money. No music was purchased, and therefore, again, the agreement between Apple and the record companies isn't broken.
Does this make sense? I think it's do-able.

  • HT3702 can you use a debit card with itunes?

hi, i am wanting to use a debit card from hdfc to make purchase on itunes. when i was living in the usa, making purchases with the debit card went smoothly but here in india despite it being an 'international' card it doesnt seem to go through and is rejected. my card works for many other sites including flipkart and amazon. not sure why apple doesnt accept debit cards

As far as I know debit cards are no longer accepted as a valid payment method - they are not listed on this page and there have been a number of posts recently about them being declined. Do you have a credit card that you could use instead ? They are generally considered safer when used on sites where the card details are stored. The card also needs to have been issued by a bank in your country and be registered to exactly the same name and address as you have on your iTunes account.

  • Can't purchase using Gift Card

    Hi!
I purchased an Itunes Card because I didn't want to give out my billing information. I've created the free account already, and I can see the store credit in the itunes.
But when I try to click Buy Now, it takes me to the billing information page (which I have selected as none), and I can't buy anything? Please help me!

Ok, I feel stupid now. I looked more carefully at the card and asked my dad about it (since he got it for me as I was at work the whole day), and it says its an iTunes Music Card.
So, I can only download songs then? If I want to download apps for example, do I need to get one of those "general" gift cards? My dad said he asked the sales associate and he was told this card is just "older stock" and one can still buy apps, games AND music, not just music. -_-
