Can you put a 1.5V SODIMM in macbook pro early 2008?

I was looking at the memory in my MacBook Pro (early 2008 - model MacBookPro4,1 series) and noticed that it's using a 1.5V 200-pin SODIMM but all the other SODIMM modules I've been looking at are 1.8V - any idea what would be the affect of using this 1.5V memory? Wouldn't there be a lot of system crashes if the memory were not compatible with the MacBook? If it matters it's a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo running Lion 10.7.2
The memory part is a DMS Certified HYS64T512022EDL-3S-A 4GB 2Rx8 PC2-5300S-555-12-DO in case that helps.
Thanks...
-Bob

Abosultely positive - the model is a A1260, Part number MB133LL/A, MacBookPro4,1 according to System Information app - and these all point to MacBook Pro Early 2008 according to my research. I believe the newer MacBook's use 204-pin SODIMM not 200-pin SODIMM so that's the big tipoff to me.
I'm not much of a hardware expert but I do remember e=i*r so with the same current less voltage means less resistance and that means less heat generated to me. But like I said, I'm not a hardware engineer or expert.
Thanks again for the help...

    Officially? No and No.
Unofficially, OWC has come out with some suitably expensive replacement storage cards that can substitute the "drive" on the Retina, but that's about it.  You're stuck with what you bought for life.
Battery and RAM are soldered and glued on, can't be replaced without replacing the whole logic board.

Just the Option key. Third from the left on the bottom row.
If that does not work, try the more elaborate steps described here:

  • Can you manually disable the headphone jack on Macbook Pro?

I recently got the tip of a speaker plug stuck into the headphone jack of my 13' Macbook Pro. I tried various things and finally decided that I'd take it in to get repaired. I took it into a store called Jump+ which is an official apple retailer in my town (as we have no nearby apple stores). They attempted to take it out and succeeded at doing so except for a tiny piece of metal (copper) which is in the very tip of the headphone jack.
This causes me to not have sound or use of headphones.
I was thinking of trying the superglue trick however the technician made the piece so small that I won't be able to get enough surface for the adhesive to stick to. He also said that since the peice of metal is copper it won't come out with glue.
I was wondering if there was any terminal code, or any type of overide that is possible without having to replace the motherboard(?) that will disable the headphone jack so I can at least listen to the speakers on my Macbook. There is no chance of me removing this tiny peice of metal by the looks of it.
    Thank you very much.

AFAIK, you can't, it's a hardware switch, attached to the back of the headphone port.

  • Can you plug in a mic on a Macbook Pro?

I've noticed on the Macbook pro that there's no input for a mic. I'm wondering, HOW can i plug in a microphone ona  macbook pro?

I have a MacBook Pro and to the left of my headphone jack is an SD card slot, to the right there is nothing. Next to the SD slot are 2 USB ports, then the video port, then the firewire port, then the network jack.
Why don't I have a line level input? I just bought this MBP a few months ago (Sept.2012) to replace an older MBP I bought in Nov.2009) which also does not have the line in jack you speak of.
My experience with USB mics is that there is a lag between audio and video. They can also cause video recording software to lock up or become jittery.

  • Can you replace the top part of your macbook pro?

My macbook pro has some scratches and a small dent on the top and was wondering if you are able to replace this? If not, what are other options?

Yes, the display assembly can be replaced for anywhere from a few hundred to more than a thousand dollars, depending on model. Under no circumstances is this a sensible, worthwhile investment if the only reason for doing it is minor cosmetic damage.

  • How much RAM can I put in my mid 2010 17" MacBook Pro?

    Hello-
I'd like to upgrade my memory. Would anyone happen to know how much RAM (the max amount) I can place into my mid 2010 MacBook Pro 17"?
    Thanks-

    8 GB.
Purchase memory from OWC / MacSales or Crucial. There may be other vendors of reliable Mac RAM but those are the only two I have used and can recommend.

  • Can you get newsstand on your iMac or Macbook Pro

How do you connect ipad to internet if you only have an ethernet cable on your macbook pro ??

Replacing the hard drive on those models is not user accessible. Doing so yourself could easily damage the Mac and will therefore void your warranty.
That is why Apple offer upgrades installed by them.

  • Can I put an SSD in my optical bay? Early 2008 8 core Mac Pro.

I have an early 2008 8 core pro with 8 gigs. All my drive bays have drives. Can I drop a 2.5" SSD in the optical bay and hook it up there. Are the optical bay cables SATA on my pro? I know they were in 2009. And I see people doing it in later pros. I have 2 optical bays one is empty. Plenty of room. Just wondering about the cables.
    -Josh

Yes, but it's not plug and play like the 2009+ Mac Pros.

The only things that will transfer from your iPod are purchases.
You need a third-party utility to transfer other things.  Here are two that will do it.

Hey guys, want to replace my 256 flash based drive in my 2014 macbook pro retina with a 1th 7200rpm hdd. Is this possible with a bay adapter of some kind?

No. The SSD is not upgradeable. There is not bay. The SSD is just a small board attached to the motherboard.
