Alas, poor Logic, I knew him well.
Recording wise, It will be much the same as Garageband but you will need to read manuals as Logic doesn't set things up for you. You must choose input and output devices, create the correct tracks. Logic was designed for professional use so it expects users to be somewhat familiar with recording/editing techniques, in other words, won't hold your hand or be nearly as easy to use.

Can I record vocals directly into Logic Pro X with my Tascam DR 680?
I'm connecting via the USB port on the Tascam. I opened up my "Devices" list under "Preferences" in Logic but it doesn't seem to be registering. I thought there might be a driver out there or some other way to make this work.
If anybody has any suggestions I will be greatly in your debt.
-JoshHi Jos, you can't interface the Tascam DR 680 like that (USB) to the Mac I think. It's not an audio interface but a more ore less dedicated stand alone recording/playback unit. You could try importing the audio data into Logic, but as far as direct recording via usb goes….. I don't think so.
A rather clumsy way to achieve your objective, if you must, would be a signal flow like that:
mic -> Tascam DR 680 -> Tascam OUT (digital/analog) -> audio interface / mac (digital/analog) IN -> rec in Logic

What you describe would be possible by recording your video, then removing the audio from it and adding audio from GarageBand once the video is in iMovie (I presume here that you are using iMovie for your video production. Other applications may need different methods.)

I am a new Mac user and I was wondering if I could record my voice in my MBP?
I didn't buy any additional software but the one that comes with the Leopard.I don't know what "came with your Leopard" but if Garageband "came with your Leopard" you will be able to record your voice in that. You can also try Audacity which is a free recording/editing program for Audio.

Use GarageBand.
In GarageBand, go to the Track menu and add a New Track to your project. When the box comes up, click "real instrument", then "create". Unless you have external audio hardware connected, the default audio input for the track should be the internal microphone of the computer.
Or use QuickTime. Open QuickTime, go to File>New Audio Recording. -

Yes it is more or less compatible, except the use of 32 bit plugins, which is prohibited from now on. So although you're able to open Logic projects as far as down to v5 I believe, it is advisable to remain for 'adding and tweaking' in your pre LPX environment.

You have two basic options. One is to use a commercial screen recording app with access to system audio built into the app and the other is to add a system extension like SoundFlower that allows the QT X screen recorder to access/record the system audio. I use the former so I am not that familiar with SoundFlower but there should be several posts to this forum covering this topic. -
I can't record my voice in garage band. I have a USB Logitech mic that works fine but I can't seem to get garage band to connect with it. I have gone into system prefrences adn made sure everything is working so it has to be something in garage band that I am not doing right. What could I do to fix this? Thank you.

I recently fixed my computer and need to reinstall logic pro 9 but I can't find the booklet with my serial number, is there any other way I can get the serial number for logic pro 9 (box)?
If you still have the receipt or other proof of purchase, you can ask Apple to send you the serial. Otherwise, bad luck mate.. Good news is, you can now buy Logic Pro 9 from App Store for just 199 USD

Where can I download a copy of Logic Pro 9 so that I can reinstall it. I'm having so many problems with Logic I can not use it since I loaded Maverick. I tried to go to the App Store and then to Purchases and download it from there, but the message I got back was: "This Product is not available in US store."
Is there something that I am doing wrong?

[email protected]You must sign in to the App Store application using the same Apple ID you used to purchase the AppStore version of Logic Pro 9 in the first place.
Then go to the Purchase tab and you will find it there.....
If you get such a message, when you click the download/install button on the far right of the LP9 entry under the purchase tab... sign out of the App Store within the Mac App Store aplication.. and sign back in again.. You probably missed signing one of the new Terms and Coditions... or you need to sign into a different server which happens automatically once you sign out and sign in again, from the App Store... -
How do you save your photos in iPhoto and be able to find the photos when you are in different programs. When i try to find them I can only find the iPhotos not the individual photos.
