Can you recover mail from deleted account?

Using Mail 2.0.5, I kept getting a message that port 25 was blocked, and couldn't receive mail from that account. I didn't think to check .mac for solution, but created a new mail account under a different name, with the same settings. When it worked, I deleted the original account...but didn't realize I'd lose all the mail associated with it in my mail program. Thought it would be stored someplace, but I can't find it anywhere. Is there any way to recover mail from a deleted Mail account?

Never did find a solution to this. However because we are using IMAP accounts most of the mail was cached on the client Macs. So I offlined them, loaded Mail, copied all the mail into local mailboxes, recreated the users, went online and copied the mail back into the new hierarchy.
Still can't believe I did such a daft thing!

  • How to recover mail from deleted account?

Had some problems receiving mail from an account and the service provider suggested I recreate it and try again... In doing so I deleted the old account and have lost all of the messages in the old inbox and sent mail box. I cannot find anywhere where these might have been put and expect that they have disappeared but does anyone have any tips for finding and restoring them?

It all depends on the type of account and how it was configured. For IMAP-type accounts, mail is stored on the server, and setting up the account again is all that’s needed to regain access to your mail.
If you deleted a POP account, however, then all your mail stored locally in that account’s mailboxes has certainly been wiped out, not just moved somewhere, and you were warned that this would happen by the following alert:
    Remove Account
Are you sure you want to remove the <AccountType> account "<AccountName>"?
This will permanently delete the account setup information, mailboxes, and messages from your computer. Messages stored on the mail server will not be affected.
If the POP account was configured to leave mail on the server for some time instead of removing it right away when downloaded, incoming mail that’s still on the server can be re-downloaded by setting up the account again, just like for IMAP accounts, but keep in mind that this would only work for received (i.e. not sent) mail that has not yet been removed from the server.
If the messages are not on the server, and you don’t have a backup, your only option in the case of Mail 2.x is to try to salvage as many deleted *.emlx files as possible with a data recovery tool such as Data Rescue II, TechTool Pro, or FileSalvage (the files to be recovered would be different in the case of Mail 1.x). Of these, the only one I know for sure that can recover deleted *.emlx files is FileSalvage. Stop using your computer right now if you want to try that, as anything you do with the computer may cause the deleted files to be overwritten.

  • Can you move mail from one account to another?

I Use Bellsouth as my ISP. As other Posters have noted they are one of the ISPs that won't accept outgoing mail when you are on the Edge Network (even more frustrating since they are owned by AT&T!). When I go out, I have to change my outgoing mail server to cwmx.com which allows me to send messages and reply to e-mails over the Edge network or random Wi-Fis I pick up.
However, cwmx.com doesn't work over my home network...I have to reinsert mail.bellsouth.net:25 in the outgoing server. It is a real pain.
So, I also have a G-mail account. I thought if while I was out, and I went to iPhone/settings/mail/default account, I could select G-mail as the default and I could respond to e-mails that came in on my Bellsouth account via G-mail. Not so fast, Kemosabe!
So, does anyone know a way to move an incoming message from one email account to another on the iPhone so you can reply using a different account?
Just as an anecdotal observation, seems like Apple's iPhone partner, AT&T and all of it's children could give less than two hoots about Apple, Safari, etc. They seem pretty stuck in the PC world.

Formally I always used my ISP's email account as my primary account and when moving or if deciding to change ISPs (I moved twice within a two year period of time), this required changing my email address so I switched my primary email account to a .Mac account so my ISP doesn't matter. It has an authenticated SMTP server so I can send messages with my account regardless which ISP I'm using for my internet access.
A Gmail account would provide the same for you, is free and can be accessed as a POP account or IMAP account with any email client on your computer and with the iPhone's email client. An IMAP account would also provide for keeping all server stored mailboxes synchronized between both email clients used and the ability to save Sent messages on the server with both so sending a message with the iPhone's email client will be available in the account's Sent mailbox with the email client used on your computer automatically and vice-versa. You can also create additional server stored mailboxes with the email client used on your computer for storing received or sent messages by by category and these additional server stored mailboxes will be available with the iPhone's email client automatically.
This is not possible with a POP account and BellSouth provides POP account access only.
I understand it is a pain to change your email address but with the combined benefits of a Gmail account which is free and has a good spam filter on the server, I think you should give this some serious consideration.

  • Help! Can I recover mails from a deleted pop account?

I deleted an old POP account from my mail and it promptly removed all e-mails from my inbox. Can I recover these e-mails in anyway?

Hi Jinogen, Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Depending on how old the messages are and what time interval you have set to remove from server (Mail menu >> Preferences >> Accounts >> Advanced)
some/all may still be on the server.
Try using mail2web to download them from the server. EDIT: Or email to your new Mail account.

  • How can i recover mail from time machine

i upgraded from lion to mountain lion few month ago. i have been backingup to time machine since day one.
last week, formatted my mac, i tried to recover my mail by using time machine, it did not show up any date for recovery.
it there a way to import back these mail? or is there a way to recover it?

Although you can restore messages from a Time Machine snapshot within the Mail application, it generally won't work with messages that were saved by an older version of Mail. In that case, you have to use an alternative method.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder selected. Inside that folder are subfolders representing your Mail accounts. The names refer to the email addresses you use. Decide which ones you want to restore messages from.
Enter Time Machine and scroll back to the snapshot you want. Select the account folders you want and then select  Restore ... to... from the action menu (gear icon) in the toolbar of the snapshot window. Restore the folders to the Desktop, not to their original location.
From the Mail menu bar, select
    File ▹ Import Mailboxes...
Import from the mailboxes in the folders you restored to the Desktop. The imported messages will appear in a new mailbox. Move the ones you want to keep wherever you like and delete the rest. Then delete the folders on the Desktop.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Mail from deleted account

Please help. I called Earthlink to resolve some issues with being unable to retrieve my messages off the server. Some gentleman (I'll refrain from an adjectives) told me to delete the accounts under Mail - Preferences - Accounts. This took all emails that were in my inbox and sent box away. He assured me they weren't gone. (He also had me delete my .mac account, why did I listen to him?) Well, they have disappeared. I was able to talk another earthlink representative and now have my settings correct for retrieveing my mail. I am unable to locate where the mail that was in my inbox has gone. Any help would be MUCH APPRECIATED, as I am VERY frustrated. Thank you.

Are you sure you want to remove the <AccountType> account "<AccountName>"?
This will permanently delete the account setup information, mailboxes, and messages from your computer. Messages stored on the mail server will not be affected.
To prevent that from happening, you should have moved your mail to custom “On My Mac” mailboxes instead of leaving it in the account’s mailboxes.
If the messages are not on the server, and you don’t have a backup, your only option is using a data recovery tool such as Data Rescue II, TechTool Pro, or FileSalvage to try to salvage as many deleted mbox files as possible in the case of Mail 1.x, and as many deleted *.emlx files as possible in the case of Mail 2.x. Of these utilities, the only one I know for sure that can currently recover deleted *.emlx files is FileSalvage, but if you’re running Mac OS X 10.3 any of them might do. Stop using your computer right now if you want to try that, as anything you do with the computer may cause the deleted files to be overwritten.
As you can see, you should regularly back up any data you cannot afford to lose, more so if you’re going to troubleshoot a problem by deleting things...
BTW, if you’re running Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther), as your profile indicates, it would have been more appropriate to discuss this in the Mail & Address Book - Mac OS X 10.3 & earlier forum.

  • Z10 Can Receive E-mails from POP Account But Cannot Send/Reply

I am getting seriously frustrated with the inability to send e-mail from this Z10 (bought on 3/28) through my POP account!
I have been able to set up and successfully send through a personal Gmail account but not my "work" POP account.  Everything I have read in forums and discussed with my IP and Verizon Wireless points to a bug in the BB10 software.  In BB7, even a POP account could be set up very simply and reliably.  That was the beauty of BB - simple and reliable e-mail.
I am getting nowhere trying to find a fix or workaround.  I reeeeeally wanted to believe that BB was back and that this would be a good phone for me, a BB fan (my third BB btw), but am just a day or two away from giving up and returning the thing.  What good is a BlackBerry if you can't send e-mails????  Please help!

I have a similar problem. I have three email accounts and two work perfectly (a hosted server and a comcast). However, my Optonline email will not send out attachments or HTML when hitting Reply or Forward. The receiver sees the basic text response and the following (below). Optonline uses port 587 and i think POP, no SSL Optonline, BB and ATT are all looking at it, but no solution yet.

  • Can you transfer purchases from one account to another?

My parents created an Apple ID using our HOME E-MAIL and I've been using that one since I first used iTunes. Now, I have MY OWN e-mail address and I want to use that one now. I want to know if there's a way to TRANSFER ALL the purchases I've made with that account to my new one. I really DON'T wanna have to buy them again...and I have ALOT of stuff I bought.

Stuff that was bought recently is DRM-free, and should work under any account.
Stuff that was bought when all files were DRM-protected are non-transferrable between accounts.
If you subscribe to iTunes Match, you should (not 100% positive) be able to delete your DRM-protected files and redownload them from iTunes's matching service. (Ones that are matched, of course.. Uploaded ones will stay DRM'd.) It's only $25 for a year's subscription, and all their files are 256kbps, too. I'd recommend this solution.
If you bought video files, I'm afraid you're screwed, as there's no way (that I know of) to remove DRM from videos. Either re-download or keep authorizing your computer with both iTunes accounts (the old one and your current one).
I have a couple music vids and TV show episodes that a buddy of mine gave me about 9 years ago. Every time I get a new computer, I have to have him come over and authorize my account, or I can't play them.
    Hope this helped.

  • Can you recover a recently deleted voicemail?

I accidently just deleted an important voicemail off my phone. Is there any way to get it back?

If you are using Visual Voicemail, or a third party service like You Mail or Google Voicemail, then you can check the trash bin and see if it may still be there.
Using Verizon's standard voicemail, there is an option while you are in the voicemail to listen to recently deleted messages, and you can restore from there.  If you have deleted a message and then left the voicemail system, I don't think there is a way to recover deleted messages.

  • Can you recover files from Time Machine

It looks like my wife had a total disaster today. First, a couple of days ago her iMac stopped working. I have been trying to get it to reboot and have tried repairing the HD using disk utility, but the directory is corrupted. Tonight, I tried to use TechTool but it did not seem to repair the directory. I am assuming that the HD has failed and will have to completely rebuild.
To make matters worse, today the dog ate her Treo 680. So all her address book and calendar is destroyed on the phone.
I have both backed up on TM, but when I rebuild the iMac will TM recognize this or can I pull the files from TM from a newly rebuilt iMac?

I probably should have been clearer: I only backed up certain files, not the whole drive on TM. Thus, I am curious if I can recover say iCal, AddressBook, etc. since these data bases were backed up on both her phone and TM, and now that the phone is destroyed, I need to know how I can find these specific files on TM.
I looked into the TM drive last night and its not clear where they might be.

Recuva (pronounced "recover") is a freeware Windows utility to restore files that have been accidentally deleted from your computer. This includes files emptied from the Recycle bin as well as images and other files that have been deleted by user error from digital camera memory cards or MP3 players. It will even bring back files that have been deleted by bugs, crashes and viruses!
    I came across this.

  • Can you move applications from one account to another?

My wife accidently purchased two apps before she realized that they would not work on her iPod. She has a Nano and she bought iPhone/Touch apps. I would like to get them on my iPhone which is synced to my Mac (not her ugly windows laptop.)
I get a "You are not authorized, na na na na na na" notice when I try to sync them to my phone.
Is it possible to move them?

No, you cannot. Apps are DRM-protected and linked to the iTunes Store account used to download/purchase them (this applies to both paid and free apps). You could only use them if you are signed into her iTunes Store account (in which case you would have issues with your apps) and your computer is authorized on her account.
