  • Can you restore an iPhone without deleting all of your progress in your apps?

    Hey,
I was just wondering if it was possible to restore my iPhone 4 (version 4.2.1), but not delete all of my precious progress in the apps I have??
    Please reply soon.
    Thanks

Restoring will reset your iPhone and then iTunes will present you the options of:
    - Configure as a new iPhone
    - Restore from a back-up
By restoring the back-up all progress that you've made since that back-up will be lost. You can check the time & date of the back-up by going to your iTunes Preferences, category "Devices".

how can i reset my iphone without update to ios 7.0.6

You can wipe the device without updating:
Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content & Settings
I would be remiss not to mention that iOS 7.0.6 patches a security flaw.
If you choose not to update, your device will be at risk.

  • Can you restore your apps after setting the same iphone up as new iphone? And can you restore each app manually?

I restored my iphone because I have hundreds of apps and wouldn't want to delete them. Well I don't want to exactly permanently delete them. I just want them off my iphone as it makes it laggy and kills the battery. So I backed it up. However, I am wondering if I can restore them after settting the iphone as a new iphone. The latter is an option which exists after you restored your iphone. I hope you know what I mean. I also wonder if you can restore one app at a time manually.
    Thanks

Just use Itunes to mark which apps you want on the phone and which you don't.  No need to wipe the phone as Itunes is an wasy way to manage your apps.

  • How do you restore your iPhone without deleting all your apps?

Ok so I'm trying to remove Cydia from my iPhone 4, and I wanted to make sure it's fully removed. I managed to delete the app straight from my iPhone by force deleting the Cydia Installer package, and the icon is totally gone my iPhone. I deleted it because the jailbreak is eating up my battery. However, I don't think the jailbreak is completely removed.
Question: How do you restore your iPhone from iTunes without deleting all your apps and everything from your iPhone? Like when I click restore it says it will delete it and you will have to repurchase your apps. I have tons of apps and I don't want to spend my money for the same thing twice! I want to know how (step-by-step) to back up and restore your iPhone without it messing with any of the photos, apps, etc.
Also, will updating your firmware to 4.1 wipe out the jailbreak?
    Thanks a ton.

How do I know if it's on my computer?
If you bought the apps via iTunes, they will be on your computer. If you bought them with the iPhone, syncing would have transferred them. Look for them in:
    ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Mobile Applications
Photos taken with the iPhone are transferred via iPhoto or Image Capture when the phone is connected to the computer. Other photos on the phone must have been synched from the computer, so should still be there.

  • Can you restore an iPhone from a backup that was done from a different iPhone?

Here's the scenario.  I've been backing up my iPhone 5 on iTunes so there's a backup file there but that iPhone is damaged and might not be recoverable.  If I get a replacement phone, can I still use that backup file to restore the new phone despite the fact that it'll be a different serial number etc. than the phone the backup is based on?  Can I restore an iPhone 4 as well as an iPhone 5 from that same backup file?

    Hi Guchman,
Yes you can set up a new phone from a backup from another phone as long as the iOS is the same. Here is a support article that should help:

  • Can i restore my iPhone without the SIM card?

HELLO! I have a new issue.
I updated my carrier plan. It started in April 2012 and finished in April 2014. I got an iPhone 5S in that transaction, but my old iPhone 3GS works yet.
I want restore it to delete ALL DATA (it's so slow), but i'm not secure, usually the iPhones require a SIM Card to activate the phone. Really, it have a SIM Card, but isn't working, the carrier deactivated it and ever says: "No Service".
Should i restore it by iTunes to iOS 6.1.6?
    Thank you!

Your iPhone just needs to have a SIM in it in order for the restore to complete - the SIM does not need to be active. As long as it's present in the phone, the restore should complete unless there's another issue with the phone

  • HT4623 how can i restor my 4s without updating to 6.1.3

    I forgot my passcode!!!!!
Now on all over internet i found that i need to restor my iphone.
But in iTunes it shows "RESTORE AND UPDATE"
I just want my device as factory setting.
    Can anyone help???

You cannot. Whenever you restore a device the latest compatible version of iOS will be restored. You have no option to choose an earlier version.
Locked Out, Forgot Lock or Restrictions Passcode, or Need to Restore Your Device
    1. iOS- Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong passcode
    2. iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.

  • Can you restore an iPhone from an iPod backup?

    Hi Everybody,
I plan on buying an iPhone 4S (64 GB Black) on Friday, and have been using an iPod Touch 2nd Generation (8 GB) for over a year and a half. I love my iPod, and have a lot of pictures, data from apps, et cetera stored on it, and I would obviously want them on my shiny new iPhone, running the way they did on my iPod. I am especially concerned with game progress, as I love my iPod as a gaming machine and hope that my progress would transfer over to my iPhone.
I'm wondering if I will have the option of "restoring" my new iPhone from the iPod backup. This would save me a LOT of time.
If so, how much of the data would sync over? Would it be literally everything?
Lastly, would data from apps I've deleted also be synced over to the iPhone? I have way more than 8 GB worth of apps, and I've deleted some of them along the way. They're still stored on my computer, but no longer on my iPod. Would their data be on the iPhone if I reinstalled them on my iPhone?
The iPod touch is running iOS 4.2.1, and the iPhone will be running iOS 5.
Thanks for taking the time to look at my question, and I hope you can help! It's certainly appreciated!
    Colin W.

When I got my iPhone 4 earlier this year, I was able to select my 2G Touch's backup to transfer all my app data, preferences, etc. over to the iPhone.  There's no guarantee this will work with iOS 5 and iPhone 4S, but I don't see why not.
But assuming that is will work as in the past, during the iPhone setup process you will be prompted to either set it up as a new device or from a backup. If you select your Touch's backup then all the settings and preferences you've set on the Touch will be applied to the iPhone (minus passwords, for security reasons).  If you have any media (apps, music, etc.) in your library that are not currently on your Touch, all you need to do is tweak your iPhone's sync settings to pick additional (or different) items.
However, one caveat that I learned from my experience -- As the iPhone setup proceeds, it will get to a point where everything's set up, but it has not sync'd anything yet (I think by default it will wait until you click the Sync button). Before you sync the iPhone to your library, eject the iPhone and go into the iPhone's settings and sign into your iTunes account, then re-connect to iTunes and then sync your content. If you don't sign in before syncing you may get error 13 (that drove me batty until I figured this out).
Also, if you're going to continue using the Touch, then I'd recommend re-naming your iPhone after it is set up so that subsequent backups of the two devices are easily distinguished from each other, in case someday you want to restore from a backup.

  • Can i lock my iphone without having the apple id?

Can i lock my child iphone without having his apple id?

If you mean you wish to lock it remotely, then you need whatever Apple ID and password that was used on the iPhone to set up Find My iPhone. If that was your child's ID, then yes, you'll need that ID and password.
    Regards.

  • I can't restore my iphone 5 after the filmware error (3)

it was in recovery mode and i'm trying to update the software to ios 7.1.2

If you continue to get the error 3, you can search here and find an extensive thread that makes some recommendations on how to try and fix this, however most will tell you this is a hardware error and you will need to replace the device.
