Can you run both 10.6 and 10.7

Can I run both operating systems 10.6 and 10.7. Some of my third party software is not working in Lion. I so how do I do it?

Install Mac OS X 10.6 on a different partition or drive. This won't work on PowerPC Macs or any Mac which shipped with 10.7.

  • Can you have both flex tools and automation running

    HI
I might be wrong and I. Hope that I am!!!!
But I seemed to me that it created some automation on a track ...
And then realised after a while that the flex tool was turned off and when to switch it back on and the automation turned off..
I am right in thinking that you can't have both the automation and flex tool running at the same time...?????
Anyone out there know the answer...
    Thanks!!!

It would appear that you can't be in both modes simultaneously. You toggle between them.
However, they are very different types of functions, and it would be difficult to manipulate Flex markers with Automation enabled. You'd be drawing nodes when you needed to be fixing timing issues.
Toggling between them is easy enough.

  • Can I run both a Mac and a PC using Creative Cloud?

I'm looking at the new Macbook Pro and am curious if I can run both a PC and a Mac using the Creative Cloud.

Yes, Creative Cloud subscription is multi platform.
You can run the CS 6 applications on both PC and MAC via Creative Cloud.

  • Can you run both the latest Safari along with 4.0 beta?

I'd like to play with the Safari 4.0 beta, but can't afford to lose my regular Safari along with its bookmarks, bank links etc.
Can I run both on the same machine and just start up whichever one I want?
    P.

Is there any possibility that the new Safari-4beta is causing my menus to freeze-up? I find my menu bars are often dead and I have to switch to another program-- even those are sometimes dead too, and after 30 seconds one comes to life, then they all do, but then go back to frozen again.
I wouldn't put anything past Safari 4. Its mere presence causes the currency converter widget to give wrong answers.
I tried to use the uninstaller, but it would not work; then I tried to just install Safari 3.2.1 - but it would't do this "Can't install since you have a newer version on your Mac"-- Safari 4 Beta did NOT do this on TIGER- but this was my weekend to switch to Leopard after 13 months of prepartion...
If the unistaller won't work, I don't think there is any way to get back to the old Safari without either reinstalling OSX, or restoring from Time Machine (using the Utilities menu on the Leopard install DVD) and choosing a backup before you installed Safari 4.

  • Can you setup both VPN server and Back to My Mac on Lion Server?

I have been trying to figure out if this is possible for some time. Can you use both Back to My Mac and VPN server services at once on a OS X Server?
So far here is what I have found:
    - According to http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1629  Back to My Mac and VPN use the same UDP ports(500,4500)
    - I have been able to get my VPN service working by removing all access for Back to My Mac(in System Preferences->iCloud) as well as removing all "Mobile Me" access on our AirPort Extreme.
The moment I try to add an account to access the network via Mobile Me(ie Back to My Mac) on the Airport Extreme, I am no longer able to make a VPN connection.
Checking the Service VPN Logs, no log entry is shown for the failed connection.
    So, my questions are:
    1. Has anyone been able to get these two working on the same server/network?
    2. Is there any way to change the default ports used by the VPN server service on Lion Server?
Thank you to anyone that can provide any suggestions.

Just as FYI....I just started using iCloud and tried the "back to my mac" on a mac server that is my VPN server.
Enabling "back to my Mac" prevents the VPN from being useable.
Disable "back to my mac" and the VPN works again, as verified from both another MAC and an iPhone.

  • Can you run Flex Builder 3 and Flash Builder 4 side by side?

I have what I hope is a relatively simple question. The company I work at currently has several Flex 3 projects nearing completion or in the latter part of their development phase, but we use SVN version control. It's my understanding that while you can use Flash Builder 4 to create and/or edit and publish Flex 3 projects, once you use FB4 on a version controlled project, anyone who checks that project out from SVN will need to use FB4 to edit the project. Assuming that is correct, can we have both FB3 and FB4 installed on our workstations, and switch between them depending on the projects we use? We're hoping to migrate our developers over to FB4 as they wrap up development on Flex 3 projects, but we may need developers working on Flex 4 projects to assist on the final stages of our Flex 3 apps. Just to clarify: we do not need both the FB3 and FB4 executables running at the same time, just the ability to close FB4 and launch FB3 and vice-versa without having error or compile issues. We use the standalone FB installs, not the Eclipse plug-ins, btw.

Yes - to my knowledge, you can have FB3 and FB4 installed on the same machine without conflicts.
Each version uses a separate default workspace, so provided that you don't try to share workspaces between the two versions, you should be safe.

  • Can I run both legacy Java and the latest version on my Macbook

My CS4 Indesign now says I need the legacy Java version to run it. I upgraded to Yosemite and use CC 2014 Photoshop, but don't want to upgrade my Indesign as I don't use it much, but I do want it available. Can I run two versions of Java on the same machine?

I'm pretty sure that that's not possible.
CS4 is not guaranteed to work under Mavericks or Yosemite so you're on your own.

  • Layout: can you have both 2 column and 1 column in same doc?

    Can you?

The tab definition determines whether or not the tab gets leaders. Right
now you have, probably, one tab defined, and that tab is defined with
leaders. You need two tabs, first one defined without leaders (to get
from auto number to head), second one defined with leaders (to get from
head to page number). I actually like to use another tab in there so the
leaders all line up and stop before they get to the numbers.

  • Can you run Logic Pro 8 and Logic Pro X on the same machine?

    Hello all!
Congratulations to us on the release of the new Logic Pro!
I am still running Logic Pro 8 (and was waiting for X to come out since I knew it wasn't too far off) but am concerned over the loss of 32-bit plug-ins with Logic Pro X (the wrapping of my old VST plug-ins alone hurts!).  I've heard that installing Logic Pro X doesn't in any way gimp Logic Pro 9's usage, but can someone confirm whether or not Logic Pro X and Logic Pro 8 can operate in harmony on the same Mac?
As a bonus, is there any reason to believe that Apple would disable earlier versions of Logic Pro (such as version 8) from running on Mavericks?
I am planning my Logic Pro and Mac OS migrations!  Thanks!!

  • Can you run both Premium and Enhanced agents on the same UCCX system?

    Just that.
    Thanks,
    Steven

No; all seats must be of the same license level. The design guide mentions this around page 1-2 when it talks about product packaging options (i.e. Enhanced, Premium, etc).
Cisco Unified CCX deployments must have all product components and optional features of the same package type. Mixing components or options from different packages is not supported. For example, Enhanced Inbound voice option and Premium Quality Manager option are not supported.

  • Can you run logic 6 pro and logic 7 on the same PPC?

I was wondering if you could run logic 6 and logic 7 on the same computer.

Until I moved up to my overqualified quad G5, I would use Logic 7 and 6 under 10.3 and I used to run the old 6 under OS9 on occasions where I needed to use a couple of plugins that didn't seem to make the port from VST to AU. It seemed that everytime you updated 6, it created a new version and you were able to keep older versions if you liked ( and I did ) for whatever reason...my thinking was that if the newer upgrade didn't work, I could always go back a step. This is no longer an option though, is it! Progress?

  • In iMovie HD 6 can you merge both DV widescreen and HD in the same movie?

I have a Sony HDR-FX1 and have shot both formats and would like to now merge them into the same movie. In my old iMovie it does not appear to allow me to import both formats it will say camera not connected when the camera is set to a different format to what the movie contains.
    Any Suggestions?
    Sam

For Photos, just drag the photo to the clip where you want it.
For video, see this article for how to do b-roll.

  • Can you run Boot Camp and Fusion at the same time?

    Hi,
I had boot camp installed on my mac pro and loved it. I decided to get greedy and install Fusion using the boot camp partition. The Fusion install went ok but then Microsoft started to get fussy. Every time I would do something on Fusion it would ask me to "Re-activate Windows" when I logged into boot camp. Maybe if I saw Fusion fully working I wouldn't want to run boot camp any more but I think I want to have the option to run either. Right now I only have 1 gig real memory on my mac pro and Fusion seems a little slow compared to native boot camp. Can I run both boot camp and fusion without having to buy two native copies of Windows XP pro? I don't want a "sensible" answer, I want an answer that takes into account how Microsoft treats this re-activation situation.
I guess Leopard might make this all obsolete, but until then .....
    ... Flash Gordon

You need to make sure to install VMware Tools into your virtual machine (while booted into Windows via Fusion). Once you do this you shouldn't have to continually activate Windows when going back and forth from Boot Camp to Fusion. I've seen this discussed over on the VMware Fusion discussion boards, so you may want to look there for more details.
Also, if Windows starts telling you it's been activated too many times, you can call Microsoft and they'll give you an alternate activation key. The phone number is listed on the Windows error screen. I had to do it and they were very accommodating. I just told them I was running Windows in a virtual machine, and there were almost no questions asked.
You don't need to buy 2 copies of Windows to run both Boot Camp and VMFusion.

  • Can you play the guitar program and also run a keyboard at the same time using seperate outputs for both?

I wanted to be able to play live on my electric guitar using mainstage and my keyboard player to use mainstage on the keyboard can this be done using the mainstage 2 on this computer?  Also if this can be done can you send the keyboard output and the guitar output seperatly to be able to be in different channels in the PA system?

Short answer: YES (but you will need to carefully consider how you organise your Patches with Guitar and Keys combinations, so that you both get the correct sounds at the same time)

Yes, ideally using a multi-output audio interface. edit (with 2 outs for the guitar, and 2 for keys... you might also want another 2 pairs for monitoring)

It would depend on how old your IMac is, how mush memory you have, it it can be upgraded by OWC, etc. I have a 2006 Macbook Pro and would NOT put Mavericks on it or espeacially FCP 10.1.1 on it because the most memory it can have is 4 GB. You need at least 8 GB to work with Final Cut Pro 10.1.1. IMHO.
I would try to find a copy of Final Cut Express perhaps.
