Can you save an Illustrator file to an Editable PDF format

I have made a menu for a Restuarant on Illustrator and I want my client to be able to go into the file and edit the text. They do not have illustrator and was wondering if I can save it as an Editable PDF?
Thanks in advance for you help.

No. You cannot create Enabled PDF Forms (that's what you're talking about) from Illustrator. Illustrator can export a PDF, but it is not Enabled For Reader Extensions. It contains no editable fields.
1. Do your artwork in Illustrator. Leave out the fields that you want the end user to be able to edit.
2. Save as PDF (without Illustrator editability).
3. Open in Acrobat Professional.
4. Create the desired fields and set their properties. Save the file.
5. Enable the file for Reader Extensions (it's a command in Acrobat Professional.) Save the file again under a different name. That's the file you distribute to your end users. Your end users can then open it in Adobe Reader, edit the fields and save their edits.

    42nato,
    You may try the list (skip 5) in this case).
    The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file, and when it is not caused by issues with opening a file from external media, see below. You may have tried/done some of them already; 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
    If possible/applicable, you should save current artwork first, of course.
    1) Close down Illy and open again;
    2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to at least 5 times);
    3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
    4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
    5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
    Even more seriously, you may:
    6) Uninstall (ticking the box to delete the preferences), run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

  • Can you save an mp3 file that you receive as an attachment to an email?

    Can you save an mp3 file you receive as an attachment to an email?

    Irwinwilliam-
    With other attachments, you can press and hold on the attachment icon.  One of the options that may appear is "Open In".  Choosing that, any App that is capable of reading the attachment should show up as a choice.  When opening the document that way, a copy is transferred to the App.  I have not tried with an MP3 file.
    For MP3, I think the Music App should be a choice.  If so, the file should then appear with your other music.
    If an inappropriate App appears in "Open In", you may be able to use it as a conduit to transfer the attachment to your computer.  Run iTunes on your computer with the iPad connected.  Select the iPad under DEVICES, and click on Apps at the top of the window.  Scroll down to File Sharing and select that App.  If successful, your document will appear to the right in the Documents window, where you can select it and Save As.

  • Can you save Canon RAW files as TIFF in iPhoto 6?

    I was just wondering...
    Can you save imported Canon RAW (.cr2) files as TIFF files in iPhoto 6? I know you can view RAW files in iPhoto, but I need to edit them in Photoshop CS, which I don't think supports Canon RAW.
    Thanks!
    eMac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   Photoshop CS, not CS2 or CS3, etc...

    Robert:
    Yes, you can export them to the desktop and select
    tiff as the format to save as.
    Have you tried opening the cr2 files with CS2? PSCS3
    can open and edit them.
    Do you
    Twango?
    I am stuck with Photoshop CS, and have not chosen to upgrade to CS2 or CS3 at this time. For now, I will use iPhoto to export RAW files as TIFF and open them in Photoshop. Thanks for your help!

  • Can you create a .ics file from entries in a PDF?

    Hi,
    I'm wondering if anyone can help me: Can you create a .ics file from entries in PDF?
    Example:
    I'm wanting people to be able to choose a number of dates for some events within a PDF, then click a button that will then create a (or number of) .ics files so they can add those dates to the calendar of their choice. Is this possible?
    Thanks

    Using the solution supplied by Leonia, and cited by Keith, you can do the same thing (flopping the Curve profiles) in LightRoom. So, it makes sense. Though I didn't know know it worked for Color Negatives.
    A friend of mine with a Nikon Coolscan is going to scan nearly 150 B&W rolls of 35mm negatives for me, and I want to import them all into Aperture, naming and keywording as I go. The objective is, of course, to have the convenience of a diigtal library. But also to have some made into large prints for framing.

    Really need to be able to save back to the older versions, in order to output vector files on an older plotter. Running an older application of Mac sign from Softeam, can't get in touch with them. Total pain to upgrade, been dumbing down for too many years.

    How do I re-save an Illustrator file back to an older version, if I can't open the file because I don't have the newer version it was created in (besides the obvious of purchasing the newer version).

    Diamond DRP,
    You may download a free trail of CS6 or CC.
    CS6 is here,
    http://www.adobe.com/products/catalog/cs6._sl_id-contentfilter_sl_catalog_sl_software_sl_c reativesuite6.html?promoid=KFPHN
    and CC is here,

    You can use it for 30 days.

  • Can't save the illustration.  The file may be read only, or the file is in use by another applicatio

    Getting error "Can't save the illustration.  The file may be read only, or the file is in use by another application."  The file is not read only and is not in use by another application.

    The same thing may happen in Windows Explorer, specifically if it is a very big file (physical size), so preparing the preview may take a lot of time.
    In that case it is used by "another application", that is: Explorer.
    By the way, which version of Illustrator are you using, Tetons?

  • Can't save the illustration. You do not have enough access privileges. -5000

    OS X - 10.8
    CS6
    Windows Server 2008 Share
    This error is reported when attempting to save an illustrator file over an existing file with the same name. Yes saving it to the desktop and then copying it over the file on the shared drive works. This is not a solution for us. Full access has been granted to the user on the network share being used.

    Try some updates:
    AI 16.04
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5546
    10.8.4
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1658
    A fix for an issue that may prevent documents from being saved to a server using SMB
    Then look into windows server updates
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd335033(v=ws.10).aspx
    Can you try saving a second time after the error, as that may let you save in some situations, though usually that is with Photoshop, sometimes with Illustrator when PDF compatible is on.

    Windows 8. Adobe Illustrator CS6
    I create an illustration and saved it as an .ai file.  Now that I'm ready, I want to save it as an EPS file, but a window pops up saying "Can't save the illustration. Can't print the illustration." I tried saving it under older formats, doesn't work.  Help!

    I don't think it is a Win8 issue per se. I export to EPS from both CS5.1 and CS6 on Windows 8 64-bit. It may well be a user account issue or the CS6 installation itself.
    Try creating a new user account on the Win 8 computer and try it. Only takes a few minutes with the reboot.

    Is this a particular sender, or all of your attchments?  Google winmail.dat and you will see a number of returns that can explain this, but in short, this is the way some e mail providers deal with attachments.  If all of your e mail is coming that way, you need to change a setting on your isp set up.  Perhaps stary here...
