Can you selectively sync files for Creative Cloud?

On my laptop I only want to sync specific folders or files with Creative Cloud. On my Desktop I want to sync all the files between both devices. Dropbox has a feature that allows you to select which cloud files to sync per device, can I accomplish this with CC?

I second this request as I only have a 250gb SSD on my laptop so syncing all my creative cloud files (70gb+) just takes up too much space although on my iMac (1TB) it's no problem. Here is how it's handled in Dropbox:

    Yes, this has been allowed with Adobe applications going back many years.  A program such as Photoshop can legally be installed and activated on two computers at a time for the use of the single licensed user.  You can't install legally on your own and a friend's computer for use by the two different people.  Prior to Creative Cloud, there was an unwritten limit on how many times a given application could be activated, but there is no longer such a limit under CC.  That means you could theoretically install on three or four computers, activating only two at a time, and then deactivating one or both before activating on another computer.

    You do not need ?&promoid=KRUVP at the end of the url but it should not matter.
    One thing to check is if your hosts file is modified. Open the Command Prompt and type: notepad %systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
    This will open a read-only copy of your host file in Notepad. Are there any entries in this file regarding adobe.com?
    The other thing you can do is open the Developer Tools in the Chrome browser. On Windows press Ctrl + Shift to open them. Switch to the Network tab. Reload the page by pressing Ctrl + r. Check for any 4xx or 5xx errors which should be colored red.

    in order for us to understand the possible cause, would you be able to send us some log files?  I'm looking for the CoreSync.log files for the period you're referring to.
    You will find the Coresync.log file here -
    Mac - /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CoreSync/CoreSync-yyyy-mm-dd.log
    (On Mac, you need to use the Go To Folder option from the Go option in Finder (menu at the top).  Then in the pop up enter:
    /users/username/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CoreSync/
    Then select go, this will take you to the folder containing the .log files.)

    I know how to move the 'Creative Cloud Files' directory within preferences, but when I do this, it simply moves the 'Creative Cloud Files' directory within the 'My Documents' folder. I do not think you can set a specific folder as a 'sync' folder in the preferences. Would creating a symbolic link to the contents of 'My Documents' in 'Creative Cloud Files' directory work to enable the contents of 'My Documents' to sync with the cloud?     Yes, I understand this. Perhaps a suggestion then to offer this as a feature in a future update. It would be useful to be able to specify an existing documents directory. For example, I have a couple of years worth of client work (psd, html, tpl files mainly) that would be useful to be able to have synched to the cloud without having to relocate them. I have sites configured in Dreamweaver that if I moved those files to the Creative Cloud folder, I would have to reconfigure all those sites. It would just make management of the various Adobe file types easier to have this option.

  • Where Can I Download Offline Help Files for Creative Cloud?

    The heading says it all. I am not always connected to the internet and, in any event, I find the on-line help annoying and tedious. I can only find PDF help files for CS4, where can I get them for CS6?

    That is not off-line help, it is simply a PDF file full of links to on-line resources. It is next to useless. I want to be able to look at teh help document and get answers to questions, not links to answers.

  • Can you block external storage in creative cloud?

    I work for government and they restrict access to external storage sites.  They want to revoke my creative cloud membership because they can't take the chance that government documents will be stored outside our firewall.  Is there a way to block the syncing of files to the cloud from certain networks/computers?

    How I tried to solve it is using the adobe package maker and create an installation bundle with the adobe applications my end users need. In the options of the package I unchecked the option for the creative cloud connection application. You can use this package for the installation of the CC software on other mac/pc.
    Now end users can use the CC software without having the creative cloud connection program installed. So no direct access to the cloud for file storage.

    It would be nice to store select files offline to show as a portfolio.  While apps like Adobe Ideas and Photoshop touch can sync work with the creative cloud, the creative cloud app does not allow this even for select files.  Being able to sync selected files and folder would improve this app.

  • Keep seeing "Unable to sync files" on Creative Cloud

    I've been trying for the past two days to upload footage to an editor on my "Team" so they can download it and start working.  But nothing I do seems to work.  I've read the post and papers Adobe has mentioned on the subject but I can't seem to find a way to make this work. 
    To start, the folder I want to send is 50gb.   That didn't work even when zipped.  So, I separated the big folder into smaller ones and zipped those.  Nothing.  Still says unable to sync.   
    The only way that seems to work is to upload a normal not zippd folder and have all the individual files sync themselves.  But, then it's going to be torture trying to share each individal file.
    Does anyone have a suggestion?

    Just to add that, I had exactly the same issue this morning, so it is certainly a more widespread problem rather than an isolated case.
    For Adobe's benefit, here's a summary of what happened for me:
    All cloud files automatically moved to trash on turning my computer on and auto syncing. All folders remained, but empty.
    Files still existed online through the browser, in the Files section and had not been put into Archive.
    When I got home to my personal Mac, the exact same situation happened as above. Though I made sure to do a backup before connecting to wifi and allowing it to sync!
    Tried signing out and deleting the Creative Cloud files folder, then signing in again, hoping it would re-sync and create all my files again to match what was online, but it just created the directory of empty folders again.
    Was on a call with support for an hour which was painful, with them taking control of my screen but having no idea what to do to fix it.
    As with you guys, I'd like to download all my files again (not including Archive), but as a batch and not one by one online! Hopefully the sync will fix and download the lot again automatically.
    Have you worked out what's wrong yet Adobe?

    Two things, Adobe:
    1. When I try to click the "See All Plans" button on this page (Cloud-based software and services for creatives | Adobe Creative Cloud) I'm taken to a blank page (except for the unhelpful footer). The error console on my browser says there are a couple of errors, which are usually where this comes from.

    I would love to see the pricing options for this service that you've built into all of your applications, but apparently I can't.

    I recently bought the Student Creative Cloud package and so far I have downloaded Illustrator, Photoshop and Dreamweaver and I'm still covered in the $15 a month student package, but now for my latest assignment at uni I need inDesign and AdobePremier, but I want to know if Adobe will charge me more on top of the $15 before I start to download. Is there a limit to how many software you can download? I can't find any information on this.

    There is a Photography Plan that includes PS-CC + LR for $10/month + tax, and for students and teachers there is a CC-Complete (all CC apps) for $20/month + tax.

    I live and work mostly from home which is in a rural area with crappy Internet service.  I have a capped plan.  All I'm looking to do is present to clients and do on the fly mockups.  I don't need the cloud.  Will it transfer sans cloud, the old fashioned way, with a cable?

    I wasn't sure how you typically present to clients, in person, from a tablet, or from your home computer etc. The touch apps do have options for saving locally to the tablet itself (native tablet Photo Gallery) or sending a project via email. The options vary from app to app also. The Creative Cloud is the best way if you are planning on starting on the tablet and finishing on the desktop though. Some of the Adobe desktop programs (Photoshop CS5 or Illustrator CS5, etc.)  have a plug-ins which allow you to import the tablet files directly into them for continued editing, something like this

    The non-Creative Cloud workflows are designed around transferring the files in a more universal viewable format for sending or viewing by others, namely Jpeg.
