Can you set up multiple iTunes account on 1 computer?

We share a laptop, and want our own iTunes accounts. It doesn't seem to accept it. It will not allow it to 'verify.'
Is it even possible to have multiple accounts?

I think maybe on different users on one computer - but not on the same one.

I had two accounts on one computer until recently. You need to use two user accounts on the computer. Note, I say I did it until recently, therefore I'm not able to confirm this still works, but assume it does.

    Of course.
And instructions can depend on which OS X is installed.
For v10.7 Lion > OS X Lion: Create a new user account
For v10.8 Mountain Lion > OS X Mountain Lion: Create a new user account
When you post for help, please state which OS X is installed.

how can you set up another iTunes account but keep all your purchases and music from a previous account

An iTunes account is something you log into online to buy music.
An iTunes library is a collection of media and other items (including apps) on your computer.  This is what you see when you open iTunes.
So, do you mean account or library?  You can set up a new iTunes account but all your purchases made in that account will remain in the old account and cannot be moved.  You can set up a new library by starting iTunes and immediately hold down the option key.

I'm going to give my old iPad to my granddaughter, I want to create an account for her, but I want to do it on my computer so there are no worries about who is spending credits for that account. Don't know how this will work, or if its possible to two iTunes libraries.
    Okay.
She's going to use your computer to sync with iTunes.
Create an new computer login on your computer for her. This will keep her stuff separate and she won't be able to mess with any of your info.
    Log into her computer account.
    Launch iTunes.
Create a new iTunes account for her. See this -> http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2731
You can enter a credit card to create the account then delete the CC info. Or you can use an iTunes gift card and she can fund the account with gift cards instead of using a CC to make purchases. This is an easy way to control spending.
on the iPad, go to Settings > iMessage > Off.
Then Settings > General > Reset > Erase all content & settings.
Once it finishes, plug in the iPad, select it in iTunes and this will set it up as a new device. Enter all your granddaughter's info.
When she wants to sync her iPad or use iTunes, she needs to log into your computer with her account.
Then the iTunes library she uses will be only hers.

  • Can you now have multiple Itunes accounts sharing content on one computer?

Hi - I was trying to find this information on line but cannot.
The last "big" Itunes update (11.2?) prevented multiple Itunes accounts from sharing content on one computer.  Well, you can, but with consequences. For example, my husband purchased a movie rental with his Itunes account on our computer when he logged on to Itunes, but then I could not download any Itunes content for 30 days when I logged on to my account. I no longer purchase any content from Apple because of this. I was hoping this feature has been discontinued – it prevents households from purchasing Itunes.  We never pirate or steal any content at all. In fact, this feature forces us out of the Itunes universe to purchase movie rentals and music elsewhere.
Not just trying to complain, really. Legitimately want to find out if this rights policy still exists before we both try to rent or purchase anything from Itunes.
    Thanks.

"Won't it present problems if the daughter needs to reauthorize the computer for her own use before 90 days,"
No. The 90 day limit ONLY applies to redownloading purchases from iTunes..
So if she were to redownload purchases from the father's account then she'd have to wait 90 days to redownload form her own account. and the computer can be authorized for multiple iTunes account (pretty sure it's 5) . You don't need to later reauthorize for first account if you authorize for a different account.

  • Can you set up an iTunes account w/out a credit card?

Ok, here's the deal... I'm buying a 10 year old an iPod Touch for Christmas.  She needs to have her own iTunes account for purchasing stuff (apps, music, etc.) Is it possible to set up an iTunes account WITHOUT adding a credit card? I need her to operate completely off of iTunes gift cards so that I can 1) controll how much she spends, 2) avoid having to either enter my password every time she wants to buy a Justin Bieber song with my debit card, and 3) avoid random charges popping up on my credit card whenever she does purchase said Bieber songs by letting her know the password in an attempt to accomplish task #2...
Is there a way to set up an iTunes account without entering billing information? So that the account operates on 100% iTunes credit?  Is there a parental setting to block access to the card used to set up the account? With all the kids with iPods there has GOT to be a way to set this up... or else there are probably a LOT of broke parents chasing after them....

Glad this helped! You might want to check this article on Understanding Restrictions on the iPad: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4213.

  • Set up multiple iTunes accounts on one computer?

I bought each of my two daughters their own iPods for Christmas, and when I set them up, I used my iTunes account login for both of them.  It has become an issue sharing my account on their devices, because all of my information comes up on their iPods (like my messages).  How can I set up new accounts for each of them, since I only have one computer?  I want each of them to have their own iTunes accounts so they can stop using mine.  Please help!!!

Also consider getting them their own AppleID, setting each person up with their own user account on the computer,  and look into Family Sharing possibilities.  Family Sharing - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT201060 - "Family Sharing makes it easy for up to six people in your family to share each other’s iTunes, iBooks, and App Store purchases without sharing accounts. Pay for family purchases with the same credit card and approve kids’ spending right from a parent’s device. And share photos, a family calendar, and more to help keep everyone connected."
If you use multiple AppleIDs on a computer make sure you maintain a backup of all media.  There is a 90 day wait time between using different Apple  Ids with the iTUnes Store for the purposes of re-downloading past purchases.

is it possible to set up multiple iTunes accounts on a single computer?

If you do it with a single user account, you will receive update notifications for purchase made on both IDs regardless of which one you're using at the time.  That's slightly frustrating as you get the notification BUT you can't actually update!  In any event, separate user accounts on the computer is the cleaner way to go.

  • My old laptop crashed, and took my iTunes account with it.  I got a new laptop, and want to sync my iTouch to my new iTunes account.  It gives me an error message stating that I can't sync to multiple iTunes accounts, but I can't access my old one!  Help!

My old laptop crashed, and took my iTunes account with it.  I got a new laptop, and want to sync my iTouch to iTunes.  It gives me an error message stating that I can't sync to multiple iTunes accounts, but I can't access my old one!
How can I get my new iTunes account to allow me to Sync my iTouch?  The only option it gives me is to "transfer purchases" from my iTouch to iTunes, but that is only about 25% of my iTunes library-most of it is CDs I have uploaded.  How can I Sync without losing all my music from my iTouch???
Also, I have lectures and photos, etc. on my iTouch that I don't want to lose.
I've tried a few of the iPod copy programs-the free ones and the ones you have to pay for, but I can't find one that will work for ALL my content on an iTouch.
Right now, I can't get anything from my iTouch to iTunes, and I can't update my iTouch with my new iTunes purchases, so I'm stuck!  Help!

Also-I tried to use my backup hard drive, but I wasn't able to drag/transfer/send/move any of my muic files onto my iTouch when the iTouch was connected to my computer.  I can't figure out why it won't let me do that.
The only thing I can see when I open my iTouch on my computer is my file with photos.  I can't see videos, music, or anything else.  What's going on?
