Can you share specific apps with other devices under same Apple ID?  ...or do you need to enable he sharing of all apps that have been downloaded under that ID?

My family has multiple devices under one apple ID.  I want to share only certain apps with certain family members.  Is it possible to limit what apps are shared with which devices or do I need to share all of the apps that I download for personal use?

Thanks.  I turned off the automatic downloads on the new devices (minis), but when I go into the app store I don't see any of the apps I have bought (for my original iPad) under "purchased".  I was thinking that this was the logical place to find those apps that I want to download to the new devices.  What am aI missing?

  • Can I share my iPod with other devices using a USB *Switch*?

    Hello
I'm trying to design a set up that will allow me to share my iPod with my PS3, Xbox 360, and G4 Powerbook. I only need to use one sharing device at a time.
As of now I plan to have my 30Gb iPod Video, a USB Keyboard, and USB Mouse, running through a Belkin USB 2.0 Hi-Speed Hub. The hub will plug into a 4-way manual USB switch. (allowing me switch between the PS3, 360, and G4 devices)
My goal is to easily switch and stream content to any device from my iPod, as well as provide the switched device with instant access to the Keyboard and mouse plugged into the hub. Hopefully the hub will also be able to power the ipod and and charge a bluetooth headset as well.
I'd like to know if anyone has experience with a similar setup, and more specifically if there are any reasons why this wouldn't work properly?
My main worry is that there is no way to eject the iPod on the Xbox 360 or the PS3. So if I switched the USB port while the iPod is reading "Do Not Disconnect", do I risk corrupting the data or otherwise harm the iPod?
Any help would be appreciated, please let me know if I should clarify any details.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Can I share itunes libtary with other devices under a different account

How can I share itunes library (books) on another device that is in the same family , but a different account

You can share music etc, you can't share iBooks, you would need to import the iBooks using homesharing to the library the device you want to use it on syncs with and then sync it to the device.

  • If I update one device to ios8 can I share numbers spreadsheets with other devices on ios7 and mavericks?

(I posted this in the Numbers forum but didn't get answers, I hope someone in this forum has the answer. Should be straightforward.)
I'm not yet ready to upgrade my iPhone 4S to iOS8 or my computer to Yosemite, but I would like to upgrade my iPad 3.
I have several Numbers spreadsheets that I modify on any of these devices and expect to see the new document on any of the others within a few minutes.
I have seen the warnings not to upgrade to iCloud Drive, and I'm cool with that, since I don't use iCloud on the web browser. But if I simply avoid iCloud Drive is that sufficient? Will I be able to continue syncing my documents among the three devices as before? This note on Apple's Developer pages seems to indicate it may not work:
    Document-Related Data Migration
The iCloud infrastructure is more robust and reliable when documents and data are transferred between user devices and the server. When a user installs iOS 8 and logs into the device with an iCloud account, the iCloud server performs a one-time migration of the documents and data in that user’s account. This migration involves copying the documents and data to a new version of the app’s container directory. The new container is accessible only to devices running iOS 8 or OS X v10.10. Devices running older operating systems can continue to access to the original container, but changes made in that container do not appear in the new container and changes made in the new container do not appear in the original container.
In other words, I might be able to see the document on my iOS8 device but if I make any changes to it I won't be able to see them on the other devices. I'd like to know from someone who has actually tried this whether it will work or not.
    Thanks.

Normal "documents in the cloud" syncing should still continue between devices running iOS 8 and devices running iOS 7 and Macs running Mavericks (or earlier) as long as you do not enable iCloud Drive on your iOS 8 device(s).  As mentioned in the support document, migration to iCloud Drive breaks breaks documents in the cloud syncing as iCloud drive is a completely different system.  (For a time I was running iOS 8 on my iOS devices without iCloud Drive enabled and had no problems syncing iWork documents between them just as they did when running iOS 7.)

  • Why can't the finder in Mountain Lion 10.8.2 find files that have successfully downloaded, or that other programs can find?

Why can't the finder in Mountain Lion 10.8.2 find files that have successfully downloaded, or that other programs can find?
This happens with maybe 1 out of 5 files. These are files that have either an ."aa" extention, or or are libraries that icloud can see, but finder can't.

Files beginning with a period are invisible and library files are system files. Spotlight cannot find either unless configured to do so (btw, this is not a Finder issue but a Spotlight issue.)
Get Spotlight to search system files (and more)
Enter the search term in the Finder window's search field.
Click the [+] button in the search bar to add a search option.
In the first drop down menu choose Other.
Choose “System Files” from the list that pops up (and check the box to place in drop down menu to avoid this step later,) click on the OK button.
Now back in the Finder choose Include from the second drop down menu.

  • HT201320 i have set up my email on have (7) messages on the mail icon but when i press it the home screen comes up to set up a new email.  Where can i find the emails that have been downloaded...again, it shows that i have 7 new emails??

I have set up my email on the iphone.  On the mail icon it shows that i have 7 new emails.  When i press the icon the set up home screen comes up....gmail, yahoo, aol, etc.  where can i find the new emails that have been downloaded??

Google stopped supporting Exchange for free accounts as of 1/31/13. If you already had it set up that way on the device, it will continue to work. However, if you didn't, you'll need to set it up as a regular Gmail account.

  • Can I share copyrighted podcasts with others?

    Hi,
I'd like to make a playlist of existing business advise podcasts, for my clients, via iTunes.   Most of these podcasts are copyrighted.  Can I legally share copyrighted podcasts with others?   I would not rebrand/rename the podcast in any way, I would just be sharing the these podcasts in their original state.
    Thanks!

Legally, no, you cannot give them to others. If you want them to listen to them, then send the links for the podcasts or a download source they can use.

  • Can i share certain photos with other iphone users via icloud

i want to share photos with other iphone users via icloud.how do i go about allowing or sharing access to only some of my photos to some people at work

    Hey zubairl,
Thanks for the question. For Privacy, you must be the original owner of the calendar to share with others. Because you are simply subscribed to the calendar, you do not see the option for sharing. To resolve your issue, have the owner of the calendar “share” it with the recipient, or have the recipient subscribe to the calendar just as you have done (if you have access to the public subscription link).

  • Upgrade to iOS7.1 has broken Music. . .can't play songs in the cloud and songs that have been downloaded won't play either.

I've discovered an interesting "feature" of iOS7.1 for the iPad (4th gen).
Since upgrading, I can no longer play music that is in the cloud and when trying to switch to a song that has been downloaded to the device, it won't play either; however, the equilizer graphic indicates that something is playing (bouncing up and down) but the song position indicator stays at 0:00.
Eventually, iTunes/Music (not sure what to call it these days since Apple can't seem to decide either) gives up on the song selected, the on that is not playing, and moves to the next song.  If the next song is local to the device, music plays, if it's another song in the cloud, the pattern repeats until it hits a downloaded song.  Have also discovered, after my various and simple testing efforts, that I can no longer download songs from the cloud - I was able to download one song but afer that. . .kaput.
It takes a special level of brilliance to send out an update that breaks your own applications/code. . .particularly one so core to the device.
Two words for future releases. . ."Quality Assurance".

I had a similar problem. Try resetting and erasing the phone and restoring from a known good backup.

  • Where can I find the pop3 emails that have been downloaded onto my surface pro tablet?

I have thunderbird setup to include 5 different business email accounts. They are all setup as pop3 accounts. My dropbox will not syn anymore because I don't have any disk space on my computer. I have been told its because my emails have been downloaded onto my computer. I cannot find them anywhere and have tried cleaning up my c drive. Can you please tell me where to look for them on my c drive? I have already deleted thousands of emails from thunderbird itself but it hasn't made a difference in how much disk space I have. Thank you.

Did you compact folders after deleting. If not that is why no space freed up. Delete marks for deletion and hides the messages. Compacting removes them and frees up space.

  • HT4059 CAN YOU SHARE IBOOK BOOKS WITH OTHER IBOOK USERS?

Does anyone know if you can share books in ibook with other ibook users?

No, not unless you give them access to your iTunes Store account (which would probably be a violation of the Store terms of use).
    Regards.

  • How can I share a printer with iOS devices?

I'm using a Mini with Lion and would like to share my printer with my iOS devices.  They will only see AirPrint devices of which I have none.  Is there a way to configure my Mini to make it's shared printer available to my wireless iOS devices?

You can install applications like Printopia or AirPrint Activator. These will share your printer on the Mac to your iOS devices.

  • How can I share itunes music with others who use this computer??

I want to share my music with my granddaughter and she wants to share hers with me. We use the same computer but log in with different accounts. If the music is in the computer is seems there should be a way to share all the music.  Can we do that??

There are sharing abilities built into iTunes.  In the iTunes Help menu just type in "share."
I personally don't care for the way iTunes shares music.  I have taken a different route.  I use file sharing to share my Music folder with my wife.
From the Finder window right or control click on Music.
    Select Get Info
At the bottom of Get Info click on the lock icon to unlock changes
Under Sharing click on the + to add access to another user.
Select you daughters id. and add her.
    Give her Read Access.
Click on the Gear icon on the bottom and select "Apply to enclosed items."
Have you daughter do the same for you.  You will now have access to each others music.
There are several ways you can listen to each others music.
To listen to just one song I just use the Finder method.  Open Finder and click in the spotlight search field (upper right).  Type in some criteria (i.e. Artist, partial title, album name).  Files will appear in the finder window.  Select the icon view option.  You should see album artwork.  Move your mouse over the track you want to listen to and your should see a play button appear. Not sure which OSX versions support this (10.6 does).  Click on the play button.  If you don't see a play button you can play by selecting Get Info.  There is a play button in the preview section.  You can also play with Quick View.
To listen to a playlist you will need a multimedia player like VLC (google it if you don't have it).
From iTunes you can export your playlist from File > Library > Export Playlist... (.m3u works well)  Give your daughter read write access to the playlist file and from the Open With entry select VLC. (use the get info method)
Copy the playlist file to you daughters drop box in her public folder.  Have your daughter use the get info function to make sure her copy still points to VLC and not to iTunes.  If you open the playlist file with iTunes it may copy the tune files to her library. (don't want to end up with multiple copies of tunes on your Mac)
Double clicking on the playlist file will open VLC and begin playing.  There is a playlist button on VLC to view, sort and select tunes from the list.
    Phew!  Hope that helped.
    Dan
P.S.  Haven't tested this with copy protected stuff.
