Can you still print a pdf into iPhoto?

Does anyone know where the prompt went?  I used to prepare a document in pages with the intent of making it a JPG.  I would print it and from the print menu choose PDF then Save PDF in iPhoto.  Then I'd be able to use it as a jpg, edit, etc.
Any thoughts?  Can you still take a Pages document and turn it into a jpg in iPhoto?

It seems that that PDF workflow has been removed from Lion.  You can get a copy of it from   Toad's Cellar. There are two versions available, the standard at 200 dpi and one at 300 dpi. I use the latter when I want to use the resulting jpegs in an iPhoto book.
Place the files in the HD/Library/PDF Services folder.

Can you still access Adobe PDF SAVED FILES WHEN YOU GET A NEW COMPUTER ? Do you loose the files you have saved on you old computer when you get another computer?

I may not be clear on what you are asking here but I'll try an answer anyway since that's the type of guy I am.
If you have PDF files on your old computer, you will need to transfer them to your new computer. You can use a flash drive or CD if needed.
But again, I think I'm not getting what you are really wanting to know. If I'm not, can you give us some more details?

  • Can you not print pdf to iphoto anymore with OS X Lion?

Just downloaded Mac OS X Lion.
Can you noit print pdf to iphoto anymore with OS X Lion?

From what I am able to determine, the functionality that I enjoyed before upgrading to Lion is no longer available. Previously, one could open a PDF using Preview, select Print and then "Send to iPhoto."  This feature is not there anymore. That is a major disappointment as I used it quite regularly at the non-profit support serviceI volunteer at.

  • Can you still order photo books if you're running iPhoto '09?

I have an older MacBook and I'm running Snow Leopard and iPhoto '09.  (I was thinking of upgrading to iPhoto '11 but it's no longer available for Snow Leopard in the App store.  Don't really want to buy the CD version when I don't use any of the other apps.)
I'd like to create some iPhoto books as gifts but I don't want to spend a lot of time on them if they won't work with iPhoto '09.  Can you still order them from the old version of iPhoto?

yes - Also with iPhoto '08

  • Pdf into iphoto

I am trying to upload photos into iphoto for a slideshow.  Somebody scanned some photos for me and the files had weird extensions like "marilyn.pdf.pdf".  I can't get them to load into iphoto.
    Thanks

Open them in preview (in your applications folder) - you may need to delete the extra ".PDF" - and print using the PDF option and selecting the send PDF to iPhoto command

You can make a PDF file out of you notes and handouts but using the Adobe PDF printer.
Open your PowerPoint Document then go to “File” “Print”
    Select ‘Adobe PDF” Printer
Under slides, select which way you want to print. Note it will not print to a printer but to a PDF file.
After then go into printer Properties and Setup PDF properties, do the following: (see second image below)
    Default: PDF/A 1-b
Adobe Security: none (change as needed)
Adobe Output folder: Prompt for Adobe file name
Adobe Page size: Letter (change as needed)
    Check the following check boxes
    View Adobe PDf Results,
    Add Document Information,
    Rely on system fonts only,
Delete Log files for successful jobs.
    Select OK
A pop will ask you where you want to save the document. The file extension should be PDF. After giving the file name select okay and the file should popup as a PDF. Down side is if you want to speaker notes included then you will have to do another file, like wise with just screen shots then combine into one PDF document.
I used Acrobat IX Pro. So to do this you need Acrobat IX or X Pro.
    Hope this will help.

How can I still print using a 'hp designjet 120nr (C7791B)' with OS X 10.8.3? I cannot get the drivers to work?

Thank you once again Matthew. I understand the importance of being thourough and followed your instruction exactly. I really thought that this would solve it and was ready to click 'This solved my question'. However I still have the same print options as before, no 'A1 on the roll'.
    Although, when I copied:
    'sudo pkgutil --forget org.linuxprinting.foomatic-rip'
into Terminal it did say somehting along the lines of 'nothing found' (sorry I didnt copy the text). Could this be part of the issue?
In this case the instructions were incorrect.  I forgot that the uninstaller would run that command.  The reason for that command was to let the system know that foomatic-rip 4.0.6 had been removed.  I am sure that you were able to then install foomatic-rip version 3.43.2.15.  There are two ways to confirm that the older version is now installed.  First, if you can print at all, it is present.  You could also copy and paste the following command in the Terminal.  It should respond with the version that is installed:
    pkgutil --pkg-info org.linuxprinting.foomatic-rip | grep version
Do I need to change the PPD at all?
There is no need to change the PPD.  PPDs are reflective of the software (drivers) that are called from the PPD.  You can put anything you want in the PPD.  If that capability is not in the driver, having it in the PPD won't make it work.
Setting a job to print from A1 Roll Paper is a two step process.  First you select the Paper Size which is A1.
Then look under the pop up menu below Paper Size for an item called Paper Feed.
Select Paper Feed.  Then you will be able to select where/how the paper is being fed to the printer.  This is where you can choose Roll Paper (Cut) or Roll Paper (No Cut) among other choices.
Other drivers may have A1 Roll Paper listed under Paper Size.  Perhaps that is how the HP driver was.  There would still have had to be a place, then to check whether or not you wanted the paper to be cut and/or whether you were feeding sheets of paper from one of the other paths.
Let us know if you can find all the options now and that you are able to keep your normal workflow.

  • How do i transfer pdfs into iPhoto on a mac

how do i transfer pdfs into iPhoto on a mac. the pdfs are in my pictures folder but i need them to be in my iphoto

If you have pdfs with multi pages that you want to get into iPhoto here's a way to do so enmass:
Here's how to get any file (pdf) into iPhoto as a jpeg file:
1 - open the (pdf) file in any application that will open it, in this case Preview.
2 - type Command+P to start the print process.
3  - click on the PDF button and select "Save PDF to iPhoto".
NOTE:  If you don't have any of those options go to Toad's Cellar and download these two files:
Save PDF to iPhoto 200 DPI.workflow.zip
Save PDF to iPhoto 300 DPI.workflow.zip
Unzip the files and place them in the HD/Library/PDF Services folder and reboot.
4 - select either of the files above (300 dip is used for photos to be included in a book that will be ordered).
5 - in the window that comes up enter an album name or select an existing album and hit the Continue button.
That will create a 200 or 300 dpi jpeg file of each page of the item being printed and import it into iPhoto.

  • Can you mirror image a photo in iphoto

Can you mirror image a photo in iphoto?  Or is there another way it can be done?

You need to either set Preview as the external editor and then flip the photo using it tha tway or export the photo to the desktop, flip it and then import the new photos into iPhoto
You must NEVER make changes directly to the content of the iPhoto library using any program including previes

  • Can't bring "Originals folder" jpgs into iPhoto

I installed iPhoto6 (previous was 5) and it put my original photos into an original file (all jumbled together... not very nice of apple). I want to put some original jpgs from the original photo file (I made sure I own it and it is not locked) into iPhoto go get ready for iMovie. But, a box appears with "Unreadable Files: 1
The following file could not be imported. (The file is in the iPhoto Library folder.)"
    I would like:
#1 my old organization back so I can fine a folder with my original pictures from my camera by date
2# at least be able to drag a picture from an original file to iPhoto
3# within iPhoto, view my photos from the date of 2001, month of 2 and day of 23.
    Thanks

    Hi caliasMom,
iPhoto 6 has a new organization the finder as you have seen.
iPhoto 6 Library folder in the Finder
As you can see from the screenshot, the organization is now by rolls.
If you named your rolls with a date and some identifying text, they will be easy to find in the Originals/Year/roll name folder.
1.you can't get your old organization back. It is done by film rolls now.
    2. You should not tamper with the iPhoto Library folder in the Finder. You also get that error message because you are dragging a file into iPhoto that is already in the iPhoto Library.
Two Apple kbs for you to read
Don't tamper with files in the iPhoto library folder
3.Within iPhoto, click the calendar icon and go to the correct year/month/date and click the day on the calendar to view photos taken on that date.
You can also use the scroll bar to scroll through the library and the date will be shown. Grab onto the scroll bar with your mouse and drag it up or down.
You can also rename your rolls with the date of the photos inside and some identifying text.
Example: roll 156 rename to 12/25/2005 Christmas day
When you rename a roll WITHIN iPhoto it will also change in the Finder making it easy to navigate the library in the finder to find your images.
