I'm trying to restore my AT&T 4S to complete the unlock process, but if I try to do it on iOS 6, it finishes with Error 3194 - the device is not eligible for the requested build. It suggests upgrading iTunes, and when I do, it tries to force iOS 7 on me.

You will have to reenter keychain items like passowords since keychain items only restore back to the same device unless you use an encrypted backup. The iOS of the target device (phone for you) has to be at lest as great as that of the source device.

Hi everyone my phone recently broke and i had everthing backed up to icloud and not my computer. will i be able to restore everything to a new iphone from icloud and if so how would i do it ? also if i back my iphone up to just my computer and it breaks will i be able to reinstall itunes on a new computer and get everthing from my iphone back ? hello, I currently bought an iPhone 4S 32gb with iOS 8 on eBay and i realized it had already been reported stolen so I cannot use it as a phone but can use it as an iPod. If I restore it, would I be able to use it as an iPod again or will it leave me on the activation screen ? Please explain.

You have to restore the iPod, no ifs, ands, or buts...
After iOS is installed you will be asked if you what to set it up as a new iPod or if you want to restore from a backup.
If you have a good backup you can restore that and you're good to go.
If you don't have a good backup, then you end up with a "clean" iPod....

It also happened to me. What I did was to put my USB connector at the back of my PC (the main USB port) then I open my iTunes again and Viola, it solves my problem.
