Can you still work  when the internet goes down?

Since internet service in this country is pretty unreliable, will that make it difficult to get work done when internet is down? Where I live, high speed internet isn't even available, so will I even be able to use Photoshop at all? Should I just find an alternative app?

Your Creative Cloud desktop applications (such as Photoshop and Illustrator) are installed directly on your computer, so you won't need an ongoing Internet connection to use them on a daily basis.
You will need to be online when you install and license your software. If you have an annual membership, you'll be asked to connect to the web to validate your software licenses every 30 days.

  • Some kind of alarm when the internet goes down

Good day. I am using WiFi to connect to the internet. Someone else owns the modem and
gave me permission to use it. Sometimes, the modem is working, but looses the internet connection.
I want to know, does anyone know of an add-on or windows gadget or program that would let me
know when the net is out.

on windows 7 you could try the following (please note that my OS is not in english, so i may not get the exact right labels in my description): go to the windows task planner & create a new task. give it a name of your choosing and switch to the trigger tab where you create a new trigger (''launch task at an event''; protocol: ''system'', source: ''dns client events'', event-id: ''1014''). <br>then go to the actions tab, where you can set-up a custom message, which will pop up in a dialog once the trigger is called (or set any other action; for example you could make firefox open another custom tab through [https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Command_Line_Options command line arguments], etc.)...

  • Can you still work on laptop while backing up

can you still work on laptop while backing up?

Yes.. but if you are backing up over wireless and also using wireless for internet it might be slow.. it is always faster to do the first backup using ethernet.. but the normal TM backups every hour are generally very small and you will hardly notice if at all.

  • Is there a  requirement to restart the JMS/Weblogc Server everytime when the DB goes down?

    Question:
When the Database is shutdown gracefully everything was fine.
But when the Database is brought down with shutdown abort the MDB consumer will never consume messages from the topic again. And we need to restart the WebLogic Server in order to get the messages consumed again.
So is there a requirement to restart the JMS/Weblogc Server everytime when the DB goes down? If not, what type of failures will require the JMS/WLS restart?

On a DB failure, a WL JDBC store service will make a brief attempt to reconnect before shutting itself down along with any services that depend on the store.
It isn't necessary to restart the entire WebLogic Server JVM to bring the affected service(s) back if you can use the Automatic Service Migration feature.  ASM can automatically restart a failed service on a different WL Server in the same cluster, and/or can try a restart-in-place for the service if the service's original host WL Server JVM is still running.   The Automatic Service Migration (pdf) white-paper has a thorough discussion of this area.
In addition to ASM, there's also a "whole server migration" option that can automatically restart or migrate an entire WL server.

  • Every day the Internet goes down

The Internet goes down. I got told it was the router not strong enough to stream everything in my household so I bought a $300 router....and still have problems!!!

Does your Internet connection actually "go down" (i.e. the green lights on the AT&T modem/residential gateway turn red or go dark)? or is it a bandwidth issue (too much streaming and everything studders or slows down)?- Same with wired devices vs wireless?- All devices, laptops, phones, tablets affected at same time?

  • Can you still not pair the iPad 2 to an iPhone

I have been trying to pair my iPad 2 to my iPhone 4 via Bluetooth, when I turn on Bluetooth they both just stay in searching mode. I read that you couldn't do this but it was from last year so I'm wondering is this is still the case. Thanks in advanced and if there is a way to do this can you please let me know.

Am having the same problem as a number of other people.
Have set up a Personal Hotspot on my iPhone so that I can tether my iPad to the 3GS service and that way access internet without wifi.  The devices find each other using Bluetooth.  Hopefully that much is clear.
It worked for a little while, but now both devices just keep searching and I've gotten a message that my iPad is "not supported."  Any experts out there?

  • Can you capture video from the internet, using premiere pro cc?

trying to capture video from the internet, using premiere pro cc, is that possible?
also - it keeps saying "video capture offline" - any solutions for that?

I am going to go out on a limb and say that while it may be against the YouTube terms of service to download or scrape a video off of their service, there are times that I really don't care since it is for my personal use. Providing myself or my wife with entertainment that she can watch or listen to on her smartphone while on an airplane, or in a car traveling down the road, just doesn't bother my moral compass. Doesn't make it twitch in the least.
Perhaps I am wrong. Perhaps I shouldn't do it. Tough. I do, and will continue to do so until the Google police come knocking on my door.
This is pretty much the same argument that they tried to kill the VCR with. The simple act of time shifting was something that was considered wrong, and illegal, until people came to their senses.
As for the editing capability, you might be surprised at the ways it is possible to download video that works just fine for what I use it for. Premiere Pro has no problems allowing me to edit out the parts I don't like, or just aren't funny, and the quality really doesn't suffer much at all.
Now, with the exception of something I did for my two year old Great Niece, I have never used any video that I have downloaded for anything except a tutorial, or in her case, a Sesame Street song I used when I shot video of me reading her the Sesame Street book that I purchased.
Would it be wrong to post downloaded video, intact or edited, for public consumption? Sure it would. No question about it.
But please do not assume that everyone downloading video from the Internet is doing so for nefarious purposes, and I promise not to assume everyone is a perfect angel and is following all the rules.

  • TS1398 Why can I still connect to the internet, but I can no longer connect to the iTunes store?

My family recently gave me an iPad for Mother's Day. It's been really awesome, but suddenly today I began getting an error: "Cannot connect to iTunes Store."
The process looks great right up to the download. Then, after the icon appears with the status bar, just before you would expect the status bar to start filling out...BAM, error!
I can connect to the internet just fine. I am able to sync via WiFi without trouble. I'm pretty sure I have tried all the troubleshooting on-and-offs. I even did a restore.
Am I missing something? Why would it work fine one minute and get all quirky the next?
Help me Obi-wan Kenobi; you're my only hope.

Can't connect to the iTunes Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1368
Could be you are not connecting to the internet via wifi.
Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
iPad: Issues connecting to Wi-Fi networks  http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3304
iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4199
    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

  • Can you sync ATV over the internet?

Is it possible to sync ATV over the internet?
If so how do you accomplish this?

I would like to know what kind or brand or VPN you are using? IPSec, PPTP, L2TP. Regular IPSec does not support passing GRE and multicast datagram packets. This is how bonjour works. PPTP is a layer 2 protocol and should pass GRE just fine.
There is another method I am examining. Using an SSH tunnel. I've actually gotten iTunes sharing working over the net using Fugu and Network Beacon. The process is a little difficult to understand at first but it works perfectly. Essentially you create a tunnel to your local mac and "host" the tunnel on the remote mac that has iTunes. Then you create a mDNS beacon via network beacon that lists an iTunes share at the port specified (3689). Again, it's weird at first but one you get it it works perfectly.
I am investigating using the same method for the apple tv. The problem is the Apple TV uses 3 different bonjour beacons to work. One for pairing, one for recognition, and one for syncing. Pain in the butt. I am using bonjour browser to monitor the apple tv process. In theory, the SSH tunnel should work just fine. One would then need to hack the AppleTV to enable SSH on the device. The device would host the tunnel. Then create the needed mDNS beacons and sync from a distance. Easier said than done I suspect.
The free VPN client from LogMeIn.com is another potential as it specifically supports GRE and multicast data gram packets.
    Cross our fingers.

  • TS3700 My headphones are flush, but the music still stops when the display goes dim.

I reviewed the apple support recommendation for my music stopping for no reason and ensured my headphones were flush, but this is still occurring.  Any ideas?

I have a new I Pod Nano 6th Gen and took to apple store cause the music would also stop playing and the headphones were not working. Apple was able to restoe it due to the voice over button had been hit by accident so screen would not work tried to do the power and volume down reset but would not work also and took them about 10 mins to get it restored at the store. And the headphone problem was due to small amount of debris stuck down in the headphone jack. They had looked at hole for earbuds and saw that something was blocking the headphones from seating all the way.. They tried with their tools to clear and could not get out the object with their tools but showed me how to  look down the plug for the headphones with a flaslight and you should be able too  see a small white dot at bottom of plug and if you can not see white dot at the bottom   something is in the hole blocking it.. I took a needle and gently tried to  pull object out and was able to break up small piece of debris that had got jammed in hole and then the debris  came right out when turn over the nano and shook out small amount  of the debris and then looked with flash light down plug hole and was able to see whit dot and was able to put headphones in and they worked fine.  I do not recommend to try this if do not have good hand skills and can GENTLY break up piece of debris to shake out took about ten mins to clean out and see the white spot at the bottom indicating plug was now unblocked and saved $75.00 for a replacement nano that was a 16gb that cost me $100.00 to buy new factory sealed   Good Luck but they were very helpful at the store!!!...resetting unit quickly and pain free

  • Can you talk and surf the internet with the Thunderbolt at the same time?

and what would be my advantages to waiting for the droid bionic
    ( I have never owned a smartphone)

    rab6793 wrote:
Am a little curious. Is that with the WI-FI on or off?
The reason i ask, is that CDMA technology does NOT allow you to talk and surf at the same time. So am somewhat curious.
It's not necessarily a limitation of CDMA, just the technology Verizon was using previously.  Network modifications and the Qualcomm chipset in the Thunderbolt make it the only current device that can do simultaneous voice & data over 3G in addition to Wifi and LTE.

  • Can you please work with the banks to make direct ...

I'm wondering about what obstacles there may be to making skype credits purchasable from within the bill payments area of online banking?  Is there a reason this isnt available e.g. bank policies or skype's own policies?  I can add skype credit via a Paypal account, but it takes four days to transfer money from my bank into the Paypal account (my credit card was phished so I won't load onto it, but it ALSO takes four days to load even if it weren't).

If you're linking tables, try this to filter out the records that you don't need instead of suppressing them:
    1.  Create a SQL Expression to check for the letter C.  I'll call it {%HasC} - it would look like this:
    CharIndex('C', "ORCRD"."CardName")
    2. Create another SQL Expression that checks for the letter K.  I'll call this {%HasK}
    3.  In the Select Expert, put the following in the Selection Formula:
    {%HasC} > 0 and {%HasK} = 0
Because these are SQL Expressions, they will be pushed to the database for evaluation and only the records that have the 'C' but not the 'K' will be returned.
