Can you swap batteries while in safe sleep

I've got the first gen 1.8 MacBook, and I'm curious whether I could swap the battery in safe sleep, without the AC plugged in.
Reason I ask is that I've got the original battery, which has about 375 cycles, and about 3h of usable life (nothing too strenuous for it), and I've now got a new one. I'm thinking of using them both at the same time if possible.
PS: What's the deal with the downgrading battery updater from 1.3->1.2 business?

The battery updater deal is the 1.3 update is for the MacBook Pro. Tiger 10.4.11 and Leopard both install it as the default even on the MacBook. When it is in the MacBook it creates problems for people. Usually replacing it with the correct update 1.2 fixes them. I do not see any reason you couldn't swap batteries in safe sleep mode.

  • !Can you record live while game playing with adobe audition? PLEASE HELP!

    Can you record live while game playing with adobe audition? I have a youtube channel and I want to record voice as I'm playing of course and cancel out the noise maybe put a nice effect on it.. But how do I do this? Please help! I only see ones for recording like after.. But I want to record it as it's happening is this possible!? it has to be. thanks *ADOBE AUDITION CC*

    That'll depend on the capabilities of the sound card/audio interface you're using.  If that interface can feed the right things to Audition, it can record it.  For just the game, look for "Wave Out" or "What U Hear" on the list of audio sources but not every system has this.  Also, if you want to record your own contributions as well as the game sound, that gets more complex too.
    I know that there are specialist pieces of software that are designed to record live gameplay (which don't rely simply on your local sound card).  I know of a couple called "Action!" and "XSplite" but I have not personal experience with either.
    However, before going that direction, check out the "Record Devices" menu in your sound system and see what it allows.

  • Can you add appliedCharStyle while creating hyperlink

    I noticed that the menu to create a hyperlink manually now has an option to apply a character style to the text source. Is it possible to apply a character style while adding a hyperlink in JavaScript? I am using findGrep() to iterate through a large document adding hyperlinks to found text. I currently use changeGrepPreferences (see bottom of script below). But I thought it might be faster to use the new feature.
    If it is possible to do apply the character style in while adding the hyperlink, how would I do it? My attempt below does not work.
    var myDoc = app.activeDocument;
    var charastyles = myDoc.characterStyles.everyItem().name;
    app.changeGrepPreferences = NothingEnum.nothing;
    app.findGrepPreferences = NothingEnum.nothing;
    app.findGrepPreferences.findWhat = '[MAP][ELO][PR]S:';
    var foundCodes = myDoc.findGrep()
    for (var i = foundCodes.length - 1; i >= 0; i--) {
    switch (foundCodes[i].contents)
        case "MEPS:":
    var _charStyle = app.activeDocument.appliedCharacterStyle = "Hyperlink";  //
    var _hlinkSource = app.activeDocument.hyperlinkTextSources.add(foundCodes[i]);
        var _destination = app.activeDocument.hyperlinkURLDestinations.add("http://www.meps.com");
        app.activeDocument.hyperlinks.add(_hlinkSource, _destination, _charStyle) // <----this works without the _charStyle
    break;
    //three more cases go here
    alert ("Not a good selection."); exit ()
    //app.changeGrepPreferences.appliedCharacterStyle = 'Hyperlink'; <--- I have been using these lines to change the character style
    //myDoc.changeGrep();
    app.changeGrepPreferences = NothingEnum.nothing;
    app.findGrepPreferences = NothingEnum.nothing;
    alert ("Done")

    If you know basic HTML you can add whatever you want after you export from Aperture, but I don't know of a way to add arbitrary hyperlinks within Aperture. Adding minor changes to the basic HTML Aperture produces is easy, but if you have a lot of extra changes, you might want to use another tool designed for more customized web pages.

  • Can you take pictures while having your flash light on, instead of using your camera's flash?

    Hello I have a 5s and want to know if you can take pictures while having your flash light on, instead of using your camera's flash? Having a constant light seems like a better way to take pictures. If this is possible how? Do I need certain apps? or just adjust settings? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Pat

    The Flashlight uses the camera flash as its source of light.  You are in fact using the flahslight when you take a picture with flash because they use the same light source.
    The Flash is timed to light the picture when the camera snaps the photo.

  • Can you swap an SSD from a MacBook pro C2Duo to an MacBook pro unibody

    I have a very trusty 17" MacBook pro core 2 duo that's due for an upgrade. Is it possible to swap my current SSD from my MBP C2D to my new 17" MacBook pro unibody? Im thinking there might be a problem with drivers? It will save me a lot of hassle trying to reinstall all of my pro apps particularly FCP. If it comes to it I'll have to do a fresh install.
    Thanks for any help

    You have to install either the current OS that you were using on the new Mac or the version that Came on that new Mac when it was new. Not the OS that was on the drive when it was installed in the older Mac.
    If Lion was the pre-installed OS on the new Mac that is what you have to install and there is only one way to do that. That is do use the Lion recovery system to Download Lion from the internet and then install it. Holding down the c key (or Command+c key) would do it.

  • Can you swap existing drives into new MacPro tower?

    I have an old MacPro silver tower with 1.3GHz processors in it and not a lot of RAM.  My buddy has a slightly newer one that looks the same but with I think 2.6GHz processors and a lot more RAM.  He said I could have his except for the hard drives because he got a new Mac, but I'm wondering, if he gives me his, can i just take all the drives out of mine and put them in his drive-less machine in the same slots they exist in in mine, and everything should work right?  or does it not work like that

    There never was a Mac Pro 1,1 or any other that had 1.3GHz (but it did have 1300MHz front side bus, with 2.0 - 2.66 - 3.0GHz processor)
    About this Mac.... or system profile.
    Yes you can use your drives though you probably need to use his drive bay sleds.
    Any Mac Pro other than the new current model can run 10.6.x or Lion.

  • Can you swap drives from old mac to new mac?

    Hi. I see new mac pros came out today and I want to get one. If I sell my current mac, can I just take out my drives and put them into the new one so I don't have to reinstall all my stuff?
    Will the new system recognize the new processors and fsb and just reconfigure, or will some of the system files be screwed up?

    Hi lisamel;
    Probably not. The reason I say this is because the new Mac will probably have updated drives in the system that are not in your old system. What you can do is to take the old drive and install it into the new Mac and when it starts up the first time it will ask if you want to migrate from an old system. If you tell it yes, you can then point it at the disk from the old Mac and it will move everything over from the old disk but retain the new system.

  • Can you swap out the logicboard of an older model mac for a newer one?

    So i just bought a mac on ebay, its in good working condition, however i was wondering if i was able to swap out an older model logicboard for a new one.  The mac i currently have is a unibody mac, MB466LL/A, and the logic board i was looking to possible switch it out with would be the (Logic Board 661-6158 820-2936-B.)  Let me know if this is possible.  Work on computers often and have built many pc's so that aspect will not be a problem, im just wondering if this request is feasible.

    Yes, its possible.
    Step one: Buy a second, fully working MacBook of the model you want.
    Step two: Sell the first MacBook you bought.

  • Can You Listen FOR while AS does something else too?

    Play and control the playing of a QT movie while also listening with Speech recognitionServer to some word from the user.
    i heard AS cant multithread.......

    An AppleScript doesn't multithread, but there can be multiple scripts running. In any given script it also depends on any results or user interface items used, since targeted applications will be doing their things separately.

  • Can you make a clip "broadcast safe" within Compressor

    Hello, I've had a bunch of QT clips I exported to Mpeg files using Compressor. When watching them on a television the bright whites are causing audio buzz. I can take them into Final Cut and apply the Broadcast Safe or Color Safe filter to fix that, but is there a way to apply the same effect in Compressor to save time?

    Sorry. Compressor doesn't have that filter.
