Can you swap existing drives into new MacPro tower?

I have an old MacPro silver tower with 1.3GHz processors in it and not a lot of RAM.  My buddy has a slightly newer one that looks the same but with I think 2.6GHz processors and a lot more RAM.  He said I could have his except for the hard drives because he got a new Mac, but I'm wondering, if he gives me his, can i just take all the drives out of mine and put them in his drive-less machine in the same slots they exist in in mine, and everything should work right?  or does it not work like that

There never was a Mac Pro 1,1 or any other that had 1.3GHz (but it did have 1300MHz front side bus, with 2.0 - 2.66 - 3.0GHz processor)
About this Mac.... or system profile.
Yes you can use your drives though you probably need to use his drive bay sleds.
Any Mac Pro other than the new current model can run 10.6.x or Lion.

  • Can you import more pictures into a photo book that is already in work?

Can you import more pictures into a photo book that is already in work? I have already spent many hours trying to create a photo album but came across more pictures to choose from. However, I don't know how to get these new pictures into the "list" of potential photos for the book in progress. I can't stand the thought of having to start over by selecting the 2000 photos plus these new ones and starting all over again!?!

I have found more pictures that I want to include. They are, say, in a folder on my desktop. I can't simply pull a picture (or the folder) from the desktop and insert it into the album or the list of potential pictures across the top.
to import into an existing book (which is just a special kind of album) simply drag the photos from their source (the desktop in your example) to the book in the source pane on the left (not to the book in the library window but the book icon in the source pane
Likewise to use photos from your iPhoto library just drag them from the library to the book
I also tried imported the pictures, from the desktop folder, into iphoto, creating new event. I don't think there is a way of accessing that new event from the album in work/progress.
Likewise to use photos from your iPhoto library just drag them from the library to the book in the source pane on the left
I also tried merging the new "event" into an existing event that I had selected for the album. That doesn't work either???
That is correct - there is no connection between the source of the book and the book - the book stands alone and you add direct to it in the source pane exactly as you would add to any other album

  • Can you put windows on a new macbook pro

can you  put windows on a new macbook pro ? yes or no, which notebook can i put windows on if not the macbook pro?

WIndows 7 is the only Windows OS supported by the new Macs.
You usually use Boot Camp Assistant to partition the drive and install the Windows product on the Mac.
This creates a system where you boot into Mac OSX OR Windows.
    see more at http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
There are programs such as Parallels or VMWare Fusion that can create a Virtual Machine within Mac OSX - giving you access to both Operating Systems at once. You may get slight performance issues as you would be essentially running two Operating Systems at once.

  • Can you replace existing images in Captivate 7 the way you can when using InDesign?

Can you replace existing images in Captivate 7 the way you can when using InDesign? I need to replace some images but wondering if I'll need to reformat, resize, rename for the Advanced Action, etc.

The work flow is a bit more complicated than in InDesign (keeps only a link to the image as you know in the frame). I understand the problem with the advanced/shared action references. This is my work flow, maybe someone else has an easier, shorter one:
Right-click on the image and use 'Find in Library' or use CTRL-ALT-F if it works on your keyboard (doesn't on my AZERTY one)
In the Library use the right-click menu to open the Properties or double-click the name of the image
In that dialog box, choose 'Import' and choose your new image; for some reason you cannot choose from the Library however, which I find really sad because I'm used to import all assets to the Library.
Drawback: if the new image has not the same width/height ratio, it will adapt to the original size of the image, you can use Edit image to repair. You'll keep the name of the image, you don't have to change advanced/shared actions.

  • Can we change existing profitcenter to  new profit center  of a cost center

    hai,
can we change existing profitcenter to  new profit center  of a cost center in ks02
is there any problem in alredy existing data related to that cost center

    Hi,
If data is already there for the Cost centre with old profit center the change of profit center is not possible.
If you transfer the data to other costcenter then i think you can change the Profit center.
    Just try this.

  • What's the highest Powerbook I can drop my hard drive into?

I have a PowerBook G4 Titanium DVI with a SAMSUNG HM160JC Hard Drive (Connection Bus: ATA, Connection Type: Internal) and it's running OS X 10.4.11 and I'm wondering what is the most powerful PowerBook that I can drop my hard drive into?
My PowerBook is from 2003, so a PowerBook from 2005-2006 would be a huge upgrade.
    Thanks!

Hi, Roger. Any later Powerbook G4 model can use it — all Powerbook G4s use Parallel ATA drives like yours. MacBooks and MacBook Pros use Serial ATA (SATA) drives, and yours can't be installed in them, though it could be used as an external drive with a MB or MBP if mounted in an appropriate enclosure.
It's likely that no other model will be able to use the operating system on the drive now, which was configured appropriately for your PB model at the time of installation. You'll probably have to reinstall the OS to get a suitable configuration for whatever machine you buy.

  • Can you move Magazine Aps into Newsstand

Can you move Magazine Aps into Newsstand?

    >What are folders. Seems as tho, if you have collections etc., you have what folders are: namely an organizational hierarchy.
Yes they both are organisational hierarchies - one on your disc drive (folders) , the other in your Lightroom catalogue (collection).
But the big difference is that your folder structure is fairly well fixed (changeable of course by moving, renaming and copying etc) whereas a Collection is in no way dependent on your file structure on disc; it is totally of your choosing as to what it contains. You can modify it without regard to your folder structure on disc.
As an example, you can create a quick collection to use in the Print module, and after you have printed you can delete the quick collection and it in now way affects your files on disc.
Another example, you can search for all photos with a particular piece of metadata, select them and make a collection. That collection will bear no relationship to your disc structure; you can modify the collection and it does nothing to your folder structure on disc.
Yes, folders and collections are organisational stuctures, one is physical the other, for want of a term, is virtual.
I could go on, but I hope that the above is reasonably clear...

  • If you have a smart phone, can you conect it to the new wrieless ipad's or do you need to order the wireless service from verizon?

If you have a smart phone, can you connect it to the new wireless ipad's or do you need to order the wireless service from Verizon for ipad's or do you need to order the wireless service from verizon?

    Kneehightoughguy,
You do not need to purchase service from a carrier unless you want to utilize the iPads connection to a 3G Network on it's own (directly).  You may choose to add a Tethering plan onto your existing cell phone plan and to have an iPad connect to the Wifi connection that the Tethered phone would offer.
Always compare your usage and your costs, as your mileage may vary.

  • Can you share iCloud drive storage with family members?

Seems like this would be a common question but Apple Support search came up empty. So, can you share iCloud drive storage with family members?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can share they space if they all use the same Apple ID, but that's not really a good idea, because you'll then share contacts, calendars, photos etc etc.

Can you import Dreamweaver files into Muse, how?

If the images aren't showing up in DW, why do you think they will show in Muse?  Obviously, something is wrong with the paths to those images.  And that will most likely be due to the underlying code.
Can you post an example of a problem page?

    Sorry for my English!
I broke my Toshiba Tecra m5 case.
Can you help me to buy new one? Or buy new thing what connect lcd panel with main part of case (i dont know how it calls, maybe "tier").
Please send the answer to e-mail: [email protected]

I will not send the message to your Email because this is a public forum and all users should know the replies ;)
In my opinion the ASP (authorized service partner) in your country should be able to help you.
The guys can order such needed parts from Toshiba directly and could help you to replace it too.
Therefore get in contact with the ASP technician and ask for further handling!!!
    Good luck
