Can you sync ATV over the internet?

Is it possible to sync ATV over the internet?
If so how do you accomplish this?

I would like to know what kind or brand or VPN you are using? IPSec, PPTP, L2TP. Regular IPSec does not support passing GRE and multicast datagram packets. This is how bonjour works. PPTP is a layer 2 protocol and should pass GRE just fine.
There is another method I am examining. Using an SSH tunnel. I've actually gotten iTunes sharing working over the net using Fugu and Network Beacon. The process is a little difficult to understand at first but it works perfectly. Essentially you create a tunnel to your local mac and "host" the tunnel on the remote mac that has iTunes. Then you create a mDNS beacon via network beacon that lists an iTunes share at the port specified (3689). Again, it's weird at first but one you get it it works perfectly.
I am investigating using the same method for the apple tv. The problem is the Apple TV uses 3 different bonjour beacons to work. One for pairing, one for recognition, and one for syncing. Pain in the butt. I am using bonjour browser to monitor the apple tv process. In theory, the SSH tunnel should work just fine. One would then need to hack the AppleTV to enable SSH on the device. The device would host the tunnel. Then create the needed mDNS beacons and sync from a distance. Easier said than done I suspect.
The free VPN client from LogMeIn.com is another potential as it specifically supports GRE and multicast data gram packets.
Cross our fingers.

  • Can not view video over the Internet on WVC80N

I set up the web cam, set up the port forward etc so now I am able to:
       1. view/change web cam settings inside my home network.
       2. view video inside my home network.
       3. view/change web cam settings over the Internet.
But I am not able to view video over Internet. Every time I did so (using IE browser), after clicking the view video button, I got an error : There are too many user connections or the device is busy, please try again latter.
Anyone has a fix on this? I set up port forwarding on port 1024 (that's how I can chage settings over Internet).
I spent 2 hours on the phone with Linksys tech support but they could not find the reason.
    Thanks,
    Sam

Who is your ISP? How you are trying to access your Camera from the remote location? Along with Port 1024 you need to do port forwarding for port 80 on your router for the Cameras IP address. As WVC80N works on your HTTP Port.
To access your camera from the Remote location, you need to use http://wan ip:80.

  • Can I record radio over the internet to my IPOD?

While I am listening to radio over the internet, can I record to my IPOD at the same time?
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Then your impression is, alas, wrong
According to the several I've seen, the manual (page 11) and the pictures on this page, there is a audio minijack on the back that you will need to plug the airport express into.
The iPod Hi-Fi does not have wireless capabilities for sound transmission. The only sort of wireless it has is Infra-Red (IR) for the use of an Apple Remote.

  • Logic used to have a feature where you could collaborate over the internet?

Having this discussion the other day, Logic definitely at one point had a feature where you could collaborate on arrangements over the internet, possibly  version 7 or early 8.
Can't for the life of me remember what it was called.
    Anyone help me out here?

Sussed it, it was called the Emagic Rocket Network and it was released way back on Logic Platinum 4.6 and removed on Logic 5.
Shame Logic doesn't still have this feature.

  • Parachute - Sync folders over the internet

    Hi all,
Over the last few weeks I've created a file synchronisation program in Java (called Parachute). The program will connect to another instance of itself running on another machine on the network (or internet), (i.e. it is both the client and the server) and will keep the contents of two directories synchronised.
For example, you and your friend can run the program, and all you have to do to send a file to your friend is drop it in a folder (you choose which folder when you start Parachute). Of course, it will recursively send and receive files, mirroring the directory structure of the shared folders.
If you ever used 'Sharing Folders' in MSN messenger you'll know how useful and easy this is to use, and what with Microsoft dropping that feature from the latest version of Windows Live Messenger, I thought it time to fire up Eclipse and get cracking.
    THE CHASE:
I'm telling you this because I want to know if anyone is interested in helping me improve it, perhaps getting a sourceforge page started or something, or if you're interested in using Parachute or seeing it's source code let me know
    P.S.
For all the programmers out there, the program has examples of:
    Threading
    Sending/Receiving files over sockets
    Swing/GUI stuff like progressbars etc

    Hi,
I am also looking for same kind of solution for my project can you plz share how you are proceeding
    Thanks

  • Can you capture video from the internet, using premiere pro cc?

trying to capture video from the internet, using premiere pro cc, is that possible?
also - it keeps saying "video capture offline" - any solutions for that?

I am going to go out on a limb and say that while it may be against the YouTube terms of service to download or scrape a video off of their service, there are times that I really don't care since it is for my personal use. Providing myself or my wife with entertainment that she can watch or listen to on her smartphone while on an airplane, or in a car traveling down the road, just doesn't bother my moral compass. Doesn't make it twitch in the least.
Perhaps I am wrong. Perhaps I shouldn't do it. Tough. I do, and will continue to do so until the Google police come knocking on my door.
This is pretty much the same argument that they tried to kill the VCR with. The simple act of time shifting was something that was considered wrong, and illegal, until people came to their senses.
As for the editing capability, you might be surprised at the ways it is possible to download video that works just fine for what I use it for. Premiere Pro has no problems allowing me to edit out the parts I don't like, or just aren't funny, and the quality really doesn't suffer much at all.
Now, with the exception of something I did for my two year old Great Niece, I have never used any video that I have downloaded for anything except a tutorial, or in her case, a Sesame Street song I used when I shot video of me reading her the Sesame Street book that I purchased.
Would it be wrong to post downloaded video, intact or edited, for public consumption? Sure it would. No question about it.
But please do not assume that everyone downloading video from the Internet is doing so for nefarious purposes, and I promise not to assume everyone is a perfect angel and is following all the rules.

  • HT201313 Can you sync photos from the new Photos app to your iPhone?

With the new update and with apple moving away from iPhoto is it still possible to sync the photos from the Desktop Photos app to the iPhone like we used to be able to thru iPhoto? Right now it seems like I can only sync directly from folders on my computer.

Ah. Thanks for the help. Turns out I just had to restart iTunes for Photos to show up.

  • Can you talk and surf the internet with the Thunderbolt at the same time?

and what would be my advantages to waiting for the droid bionic
    ( I have never owned a smartphone)

    rab6793 wrote:
Am a little curious. Is that with the WI-FI on or off?
The reason i ask, is that CDMA technology does NOT allow you to talk and surf at the same time. So am somewhat curious.
It's not necessarily a limitation of CDMA, just the technology Verizon was using previously.  Network modifications and the Qualcomm chipset in the Thunderbolt make it the only current device that can do simultaneous voice & data over 3G in addition to Wifi and LTE.

  • Can you still work  when the internet goes down?

Since internet service in this country is pretty unreliable, will that make it difficult to get work done when internet is down? Where I live, high speed internet isn't even available, so will I even be able to use Photoshop at all? Should I just find an alternative app?

Your Creative Cloud desktop applications (such as Photoshop and Illustrator) are installed directly on your computer, so you won't need an ongoing Internet connection to use them on a daily basis.
You will need to be online when you install and license your software. If you have an annual membership, you'll be asked to connect to the web to validate your software licenses every 30 days.

  • Can you install Lion over the top of Mountain Lion to get rid of these awful Logic glitches?

    Folks -
I too have experienced the 'help! Logic is running away with itself and won't respond to me' scenario. I thought it was just me at first... I know there are several other folks that are having other problems ranging from annoyances to show-stoppers.
In my case, the biggest problem is that my Mackie Control (original; version 1.02)that has worked flawlessly in the past is plagued with the following symptoms:
Frequently is not detected or initialized when Logic starts up. This always worked prior to Mountain Lion.
If it IS detected, it will get a MIDI download from Logic so that all of the screen text and values come up, but none of the input functions (i.e. raising/lowering a fader on the control surface) are picked up/executed by Logic. I have tried different MIDI ports and cables and no change in the problem.
This control surface is pretty important for my workflow. I am seriously considering downgrading back to Lion, if it's possible.
Does anyone know if it is possible/safe to install Lion back on top of Mountain Lion? The glitches in Logic with Mountain Lion have made the system unstable and fairly unusable.
    Thanks!
    Pete

Turns out that the problem REALLY WAS MOUNTAIN LION!
I had a clone of my Mountain Lion disk in my Mac Pro. I do a full clone every night, so I booted from that, and erased my primary disk.
Then, I used Time Machine to go back to just before I installed Mountain Lion and then booted from the Lion DVD that I had made when Lion launched (see Google for this). I recovered to my erased disk, and 2.5 hours later I had a full 10.7.4 system up and running on my primary disk. This WORKS!!! I have just tried Logic, and the problems I was having disappeared. The Mackie Control surface is now responsive, and I'll bet Logic doesn't run away anymore either. Great tools - Carbon Copy Cloner (I'm a registed user) and Time Machine saved my butt.

  • Backup over the Internet to my new time capsule

I travel a lot, and want to back up my new (late 2013) mac air to my new time capsule.
Can I do this over the internet with time machine?
Sorry, but I can't find this in the user manual. I have DSL at home.
    Thanks!!

Apple says specifically don't do it.
    See BTMM and iCloud instructions.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3486
    And I quote.
Can Time Machine remotely back up or restore data from AirPort Time Capsule or its attached hard drive via Back to My Mac?
Backing up or restoring Time Machine backups remotely (that is, via Back to My Mac and the Internet instead of your local network) is not recommended. If you want to back up or restore with Time Machine and AirPort Time Capsule, you should do so while directly connected to your AirPort Time Capsule's local network.
I think Apple have good reason to recommend you don't do it.. eg.. you can easily corrupt the entire backup. So instead of having an up to date backup you will have none.
Use a 2.5" portable drive when travelling. When you get home.. backup to the TC as usual.

  • QMASTER server visable over the internet

So what I wan't to do is be able to setup a cluster of computers just for rendering and be able to have people outside of my network upload scripts to this cluster. Specifically SHAKE scripts.
I have read through any information I could find on how to configure a Qmaster Server to be accessable outside of a local network, but nothing showed me how to do it. I just want to make sure its possible.
    Thanks.

    Heya,
I have massive gaps in my knowledge, I can happily write java programs using server sockets and get them connecting to stuff on a local network... but I have absolutely no idea how I can make it so that I can connect to it over the internet :S The Java code is exactly the same. The only thing that's different is instead of passing "127.0.0.1" or "192.168.1.2" as the host address, you pass the public IP address of the host you're connecting to.
How do you do that? Ive got my servers and clients all connecting to localhost at the moment, how can i get it to work online? I dont imagine that I can just run the server codes on my pc and enter something other than localhost to make it connect from outside the network...can I?If you want somebody from outside your local home network to be able to connect to your server, you have to give them a public IP address. If your server is connected directly to your cable modem or DSL modem, then it may or may not have a public IP address.
If your server is behind your own router (and also for some cases connected directly to the modem), you'll have to configure NAT on the router. (How you do that is specific to your router, and should be in its docs. Most home routers have a web interface for administration.) Set router to forward some port on its WAN side to some port (usually the same port, but doesn't have to be) on your server. The client connects to the public IP of the router, which then forwards it to your server.
Either way, it will only work if your ISP allows incoming connections to that port on your public IP address.

  • Can you:  Sync Calendar, Contacts, & Tasks over the internet?

    Hey!
We have a iMac and love it. I am primarily a PC user at work and am used to a windows mobile device that syncs Contacts, Calendar, & tasks over the internet.
As stated we have the iMac. I also have the .Mac account which currently publishes our calendar to a read only web site.
    Here's the Q's I have as a perspective buyer:
Can the iPhone sync up with the calendar on my Mac?
Can the iPhone sync up contacts with my Mac?
Can the iPhone sync up tasks with my Mac?
*When I use the term "sync" I mean that if I update something on the mac, it shows up automatically on thie iPhone and when I enter an item into the iPhone it shows up on the Mac.*

No. The iPhone does not support any Over the Air (OTA) syncing at this time. With the 2.0 release in June the iPhone will support OTA syncing with Exchange servers.
