Can you sync to anything other than Outlook?

I just purchased an 8830 from Verizon. I formerly had a Palm, and used the Palm Desktop software. I use Thunderbird for my email, and have just installed the Lightning addon for Calendar and Tasks. My questions are-
1. Has anyone written an add-in or conduit so I could use Thunderbid/Lightning?
2. Are there any other PIM apps for my PC that the  Blackberry WILL sync to for calendar/tasks/contacts?
(Yeah, I know...those of you who will just say "Just get over it and use Outlook" might as well save your breath. And for the record, I also use OpenOffice instead of MSOffice. I can't afford the Micro$oft upgrade fees anymore. )
Thanks,
Eric Lorenz

You can do it, but it will cost you a few dollars. Go to http://www.mobical.net and sign up for a free account. It's a full-fledged online PIM, but you can just use the address book if you like. Funambol has a free Thunderbird sync tool that works like a charm, which you can get from http://sourceforge.net/project/downloading.php?group_id=149326&use_mirror=osdn&filename=Funambol-Pim-Plugin-win32-v0.4.5.xpi&53502710. Set it up using the info at  https://www.mobical.net/mobical/application/MobicalApplication.html#gwt-faq. Once you've synced your Thunderbird contacts to Mobical, get either the Funambol or Nexthaus SuncML plug-in for your Blackberry, and set it up to sync with Mobical as well. You can get a free trial, after which you have to shell out ~$30 US to buy the plug-in. You can now sync contacts between your BB and Mobical (and other PIM info too if you like).. With the Nexthuas client, you can set up an auto-sync for, say, every 15 minutes (maybe with funambol too, i don't know). So now, you have your Blackberry contacts (+ maybe other data) being wirelessly synced with Mobical every 15 minutes. When you run Thunderbird, you now nice have a nice sync button on your toolbar that you can press whenever you want to  sync Thunderbird and vice-versa.
Enjoy!

  • Calendar sync with anything other than outlook?????????

"I am trying to sync my phone calendar with anything other than outlook.  can anyone help???

    hello,
if you look at the Desktop Software page on the blackberry.com website, there is a section called "requirements" and in that section you have a paragraph with the list of PC software against which you can do a synchronization.
apart from PC software, you can also synchronize with GMail Contacts, Google Calendar, Yahoo!Mail and probably some other like facebook contacts, facebook events.

  • Can you sync Ipad with more than one computer?

I am just curious, can I associate my Ipad with more than 1 computer.  I have a desktop and a laptop both with itunes and same library.  Can I sync the Ipad on both computers without it totally erasing the Ipad or should I only sync it on one computer?
Than kyou in advance for the help.

In theory - If the libraries are identical, yes it should work. Keeping the libraries identical might become a little challenging. You may want to make sure that you always manually transfer purchases whenever you sync to each computer to make sure that all content is always being transferred into each iTunes library and I would think that you would want to backup each time you sync as well. And you might want to sync with the one computer right after you sync with the other computer so that all of your data remains intact in the backups of both computers.
You can always check by giving it a try and see of you get the "this iPad have been synced to a different computer" message and see what happens. If the message pops up, just cancel and don't sync.
However, I wouldn't recommend doing this unless you absolutely have to for some reason.

  • Can I sync calendar with anything other than Outlook?

I have a PC running Windows XP, and Microsoft Office 2000, with no desire to upgrade since I infrequently use it. But as I understand it, iPhone does not sync with Office 2000. So I can't sync my calendar with Outlook on my computer. Is there anything else (an app?) that I can use. I have heard about Google calendar, but I understand that syncing there would erase what is currently in my iPhone calendar, which I don't want to do.
    Thanks,
    David

  • Can you install CS5 anywhere other than the C Drive?

I already have CS5 successfully installed on my computer and it works perfectly.
The problem I have is that I'm running out of space on my C drive. (Currently 864 MB Free of 64.2 GB).
After a quick look at the stuff I have on this drive, it seem's to make sense to me to move Photoshop to a different drive, and regain over 10 GB of space back instantly.  I already have a dedicated Photoshop drive on my computer (H:) which contains all my Fonts, Actions, Brushes etc. It would be awesome if I could install it there instead.
However, where computers are concerned, I know that nothing is ever as simple as it seem's.
Could someone let me know what sort of problem's I could expect from doing this, or even if it is possible to do.
Just out of interest, I started the CS5 installer earlier today whilst still having Photoshop installed just to see if it was something it would let me do. (I have no intention of uninstalling Photoshop from my C drive until I know if it's doable).
As you can see from the image above it shows that I already have Photoshop installed and it shows the location (Highlighted for you in Yellow).
I have tried to change the drive letter to H: but I cannot change the text within that box.  I was wondering if that location only relates to the already existing copy of Photoshop. And therefore I would need to uninstall the existing copy before I can change this. Or will that location always be C:\Program Files\Adobe regardless.
In short, Is it possible to install CS5 to a drive other than C: without there being any problems?
Also is it possible to install 2 copies of CS5 onto 2 different drives? So I can test the new one before finally getting rid of the old one.
Any help or advice will be gratefully received.

You would, of course, have to uninstall the current copy before installing Photoshop in a different place.
You can only install one copy of the same version at one time on the same PC.
You're not going to be able to install it in another place just to see if all went well before uninstalling it from drive C:.
And yes, choosing an alternate drive and location into that field with the little folder icon during an install will allow you to install Photoshop on another drive.  That allows you to keep the better part of a gigabyte of software off the C: drive.
Keep in mind that there are a number of things (e.g., Adobe common software) that will still and only install on drive C: however, and there's nothing you can do to change those locations.

  • Wifi connection - can you get it anywhere other than home?

    Hey
Sorry if this question has been answered 100000000000000 times before, I have searched posts.
Can you get internet access anywhere in London, shops, tube etetc without having to put in a password??
    Thanks

You may find free WiFi hotspots around London in cafes, etc, or even peoples home wireless networks (although using other peoples WiFi is stealing and you can be arrested for it).
There is a nation-wide WiFi service that you might want to consider, it will only give you a connection when you are near one of their 7500 hotspots which are most in bars, pubs and phone boxes.
The service is provided by 'The Cloud' and they have done a special deal with Apple for the iPod touch, you can get a months service for £3.99. Once you are signed up you never need to log in again to their service, as soon as you are near one of their hot spots your iPod will connect to it (if you have WiFi turned on). You can find out more here :-

  • Can you update to something other than most recent

My wife has a 16GB iPad2.  Currently running iOS 6.  She is reluctant to upgrade to iOS 8 for fear that it will overwhelm her iPad and performance will degrade.  Is there a way she can upgrade to iOS 7?
Or, are her fears about iOS 8 unfounded?

Never update the iOS simply for the sake of updating. If the iPad is working as it should now, I would personally keep it at the same iOS version. On the other hand, if you require the use of apps that are only compatible with iOS 7 or higher, then you may have no choice but to update to iOS 8.
Also beware of the change in the look going from iOS 6 to iOS 8...it's very different and may take some time to get used to. There are many screen shots online of iOS 8 that you can use to make a comparison. Or go to a retail store like Best Buy to experience it for yourself.
Also know (I believe you do) that the iPad 2nd gen is at the bottom of the compatibility scale for iOS 8. Performance will likely suffer because of this...to what extent, I cannot say as there have been mixed reports of issues...some have experienced them while others have not (or simply do not notice them). In the end, you'll take your chances and cannot undo (or revert back to iOS 6) the iOS update if you decide to update.

  • G4 wireless/Can you use another product other than Airport?

I have a G4 tower and I am using a Netgear wireless router for my Dell computer, is there another usb or wireless option for the G4 I can use?

You don't have to have an Aiport card to connect to the Netgear. Most USB WiFi dongles work with OS X. They're about the size of a thumbdrive and can cost as little as $40-$50 USD.

  • HT1296 What calendars sync with an iphone-other than outlook

What calendars other than outlook and apple calendar sync with Iphone computer operating system is windows vista

None, but you can sync the iPhone with CalDAV calendars over the Internet.
iOS: How to transfer or sync content to your computer
    You can sync calendars with:
Microsoft Outlook 2003, Microsoft Outlook 2007, Microsoft Office 2010 (Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7)
    iCal (Mac OS  X)
Microsoft Entourage 2004, Microsoft Entourage 2008
Note:  If using Microsoft Entourage, use Microsoft Entourage 2008 12.1.2 or later  if syncing with Mac OS X v10.6 or later. If you would like to sync data on your Mac with Entourage, enable syncing between Entourage and Address Book.
    Microsoft Outlook 2011 for Mac
Note: If using Microsoft Outlook 2011 for Mac to sync calendars you must update to Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac Service Pack 1 or later.
For example, here's how you setup a Google calendar to your iPhone with CalDAV -> Sync your Apple device - Google Calendar Help

  • Can you sync attachments from an iPhone to a Windows PC with Outlook 2007?

Can you sync attachments from an iPhone to a Windows PC with Outlook 2007? I would like to receive email on the iphone with attachments and then sync the attachments to a Windows XP PC with Outlook 2007 without Outlook 2007 having to connect to the mail server itself and having to separely download the attachment. Is this possible?
I have only tried one pdf file which downloaded wonderfully to the iPhone. I synced to the PC without the PC being connected to the email account. This also worked except that when I tried to open the attachment on the PC I got a message that the mail wasn't fully downloaded. When I went on=line on the PC, it downloaded the attachment. I would love to have this option because I can't access some email accounts from my corporate computer.

No it is not. The only information synced regarding email accounts is the email account information only and this is in one direction only - from your computer to the iPhone via iTunes.

  • Can you Sync iPhone 5 with Outlook 2013

Can you sync iPhone 5 with Outlook 2013? Everything mail, contacts and calender.

    Hey Mark
    I'm Michael and I work for connex.io.
We were also constantly having problems with our address books, so we decided to build our own solution. connex.io is a service that syncs two-ways between all of your devices and services. It also de-duplicates, cleans completes and automatically updates your address books on all of those devices. So whenever you make a change on any of them, it automatically gets changed everywhere. So you only have to connect your address books once, and you will have your contacts always with you. No need to connect your device to your computer or sync manually.
If you want to check it out: www.connex.io or you can send me an e-mail if you would like some more info: [email protected]
I hope this helps you out.

  • Can I hook up Apple TV to my HDTV? If so, do I need anything other than the Apple TV box?

Can I hook up Apple TV to my HDTV? If so, do I need anything other than the Apple TV box?

You'll need an HDMI cable to hook it to your TV.  Once you have that, you just have to plug in the Apple TV power and then plug it into the television using the HDMI cable.
    EDIT:
If you don't have wireless you'll also need an ethernet cable to hook the Apple TV up to your router so you can stream content from the internet.
