Can you text using traditional phone keypad (3x4) instead of QWERTY?

I've been waiting for the iPhone to finally have the option of texting using a tradtional 3x4 keypad like all the the other Android and Windows phones offers. This has been the one thing keeping me from going iPhone. Anyone know if the iPhone 5 has implemented this?

While I am very sorry you had to go through that (sounds painful), I hope you're not implying that 1-handed texting with QWERTY is anywhere near as fast/accurate as 1-handed texting using 3x4 keypad w/ iTap.
I'm implying no such thing, especially since I'm not in a texting race or contest.
My reply was in response to this.
Let's face it, for most non-teenagers, texting is a 1-handed activity. Most people like myself who carry a briefcase in one hand or text while walking do not have two hands available to type messages.
Texting with the iPhone does not require two hands.

The Ipod does not allow android texting on Imessage because it is messaging between only Ipods,Ipads,or any other apple product.

A Restore first downloads a new copy of iOS to your computer. On a slow Internet connection this can take a long time. How fast is your connection? How long would you expect it to take to download 900 MB?
That's assuming nothing is interfering with the download. Some firewalls and antivirus programs will block the download or slow it down. So you should temporarily disable your security software. Security software can also block the update after the iOS download is complete.

Unless you want that iPad permanently linked to your Apple ID, you really can't do what you're wanting to do.
if it's staying 'in the family' so to speak, then sure, set it up as new and keep using your old one. Your new one, if set up from the backup of the old one, will be a clone from the date of set up....so if you set it up now and gift it in December they will be different because all that you do on the 2 will not be reflected on the Air.

     Can you still use Home Sharing?    I have a Mac Mini (10.6.3) a Ipad (3rd Gen.) and a 3rd Gen. Apple TV. All on the same home network and router. All three have Home Sharing turned on. All with the same account and all with the same password but they don't see each other. Since we're talking about three devices that don't see each other, I figure it must be something in the way I have it setup or Apple did away with the function.
     Can anyone point me in the right direction or shed some light on this problem.

Well I can tell you that Apple did not do away with it because I am still using home sharing. Maybe you should go through this support article.

gyrhead mentione OnLive and I find this is the best solution. Im thinking about paying the monthly fee for it becuase its that good. Although gyrhead is correct about the virtual keyboard, I find that using a bluetooth keyboard works great. I use CloudOn also but find that its not a "full" version of Office...well at least Excel. You cant create Pivot Tables and other things.
