Can you track a stolen ipod through wifi if its been restored?

So I was working and found an ipod touch4G. I waited 3 weeks and no one has come in to claim it so i thought id use it. The last wifi connetion it picked up was at the movies (where i work) also where i restored it. I want to bring it home and use it but im scared theyre going to see its on my wifi home connection and think i stole it. Also if they have the serial number and i go on my home wifi with it, can they track it?

Not via iCloud. Only the old fashioned way like if you lost your keys
- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
- If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.
- Apple will do nothing without a court order

  • Can't track a stolen ipod without wifi?

My ipod was stolen in the locker room at school, i've tried using Find MyiPhone app & won't locate it because the person that has it hasn't connected to Wifi & in order to connect to the wifi the person would have to enter my passcode . Everytime i try using the tracker it say that my ipod is offline so i am guessing my ipod is either turned off or not connected to wifi . Is there any other way i could get it back or track it ? Also how could i use iCloud to atleast get all my photos saved on my computer .

There is no way to track it if it is offline (off the internet or turned off).  You have some other options to remote erase it if it comes online or to enable lost mode so you get an email if it comes online.
To recover your Photos from a backup (from iTunes or iCloud) you will need an iPod Touch or an iPhone to restore the backup to, then you can import your photos.

If you were using My Photo Stream, you may be able to recover the last 30 days of photos with the iCloud Control Panel for Windows, or in iPhoto or Aperature for a Mac.

Lucky you, the only way to get your missing device back is thru a GOOD SAMARITHAN.Remember once the new user puts your device to "ERASE ALL CONTENT AND SETTINGS" and you connect it to your iTunes ,using the new users Apple ID ,everything changes to the new users name, unless you have an Apple Care protection plan which is  registered under that serial #.

No, only the iPod Touch, iPad and iPhone iOS devices are able to contact iCloud where the tracking takes place.

Can you deactivate a stolen iPod with a serial number so it can no longer be used?

If you used 'Find my iPhone' then you can log into the app on an iOS device or access it from icloud.com on a computer. The application will let you wipe and lock an iPod Touch remotely.
Other than that there's no way Apple can 'deactivate' a device.

Since the pawn shops have the device in their hands, they have no need to try and track it, which again is not possible unless Find My iPod was set up. As Philly_Phan said, all the pawn shops do is check the serial number against stolen property lists.

  • Can i track my stolen ipod

Someone stole my ipod today at school.  Is there a way i can track the location?

I'm very sorry what happened to your ipod today. There is an app to track it its called find my ipod or might show up as find my iphone. You have to hook up your ipod to the app using your email. You need to get the app on another iphone, ipad, mac ect. But you can't hook up your ipod beacuse it is stolen. So im sorry you can't find it. You can also contact apple to find your ipod or get a new one for a discount on price.

can u track or find my stolen ipod touch?

We are all ipod users just like you, so, no, we cannot track your ipod.
    Apple cannot track it either.
If you had activated find my ipod on the ipod BEFORE it was stolen AND it is on AND it is connected to wi-fi, THEN you may be able to track it.
