Can you transfer apps?

I think i have a defective iPod Touch that i just purchased a few days ago. I've purchased a few apps, and installed several free ones. I notice a folder in my documents where the apps are located. Will i lose all my apps if i take this back and exchange it for another Touch? Or can i transfer them over?
If i can transfer them, would i have to have both devices? or could i simply back up the apps folder and reload the apps onto the new device? not sure how that works, but i don't want to lose the apps since i've already paid for some of them.

You can attach the new iPod and not lose anything.
You can use as many iPods on your computer as you like - with the same account.
If however, it's sync'd with another computer, you will lose items on that iPod.

  • Can you transfer apps from one Mac to another?

I have both a desktop Power PC G5 running Mac OS X Tiger (10.4.11) on which I sync my iPod Touch and have all my apps, movies etc. I also have an Intel MacBook Pro running Leopard (with no link to the iPod Touch). If I buy an iPad, how do I sync the apps/movies I've either paid for or downloaded free? I see in the tech spec for the iPad says that it is only compatible with Mac 10.5 onwards. So it possible to transfer the apps from one machine (desktop) to the other (laptop) and then sync with the iPad, and what do you have to do? Thanks, in advance, for your help on this one.

You go to your original Mac and Deauthorise the computer, then you go to your nw computer and re-authorise it with he same iTunes account and you should be able to download all your Apps again for free.
Syncing will of course delete all the media content on the iPad and replace it with the media content from the newer computer so you may wish to move your library at the same time.

  • Can you transfer apps data/preference settings from one iPod to another?

I just bought a new 32G iPod touch (previously using a 16G touch). I know how to transfer all of my music, movies, etc. from the iTunes library.
But here is my question: is there a way to transfer the "preferences/settings" files for my apps--workout routines, high score settings, mail settings, stock data--from the iPod itself?
The actual apps transferred over fine from iTunes, but is there a way to get all of my info from my old iPod to the new one?

I am trying to do this, but it doesn't seem to work for me. When I restore my new iPod from my old iPod backup, I only get settings and some pictures, but no apps or music.
In order for this to work would have I had to have the "Sync" settings on for apps and music? I can't turn this on now. The music is not a big deal, but I have a few essential apps on here that I really need the data from.
    Any ideas?

  • Can you transfer apps between accounts?

    the title says the question

Apps are permanently tied to the account they are purchased with.
It is possible to share apps with others.  Simply copy the app from one computer to another, then authorize the new computer with the appropriate Apple ID and finally sync the app to the device(s).

Follow the instructions here or here; using the first set of instructions then requires syncing the second device with the iTunes library containing the content.

  • How can I transfer apps from one iTunes library to another?

How can I transfer apps from one iTunes library to another? My daughter has an iTouch, and I was managing it through my library. I have created an iTunes account for her, with a new iTouch, and would like to move the apps over. I tried to sync the old iTouch to the new library and it said it was already set up to sync with a different library. What is the best way to do this?

You can transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
To make the new computer the syncing computer you have to:
    - Transfer iTunes purchases lIke I described above
    - Make a backup of the iPod on that computer by connecting the iPod and then right-clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and selecting Back Up.
    - Restore the iPOd from that backup
She will have to continue to use your iTunes ID to update the apps prchased with your account. To use her account she will have to log into the computer with her account (iTunes>Store) and change the sign in on the iPod by going to Settings>Store.

How can i transfer apps from an ipad to a brand new ipod?

All of your apps should be on your computer.
Just sync them to the new device.
    You can also redownload
Download past purchases - Apple Support
Not all apps are compatible with both iphone/ipod and ipad.  Some are universal.

  • Can you transfer your ipod games and music to an ipad?

Can you transfer your games and music from an I pod to an I pad?

If the iPod was an iPod Touch and you had backed up the iPod in the past - yes you can restore the game data from the backup of the Touch. If you restore from the backup, you restore all of the data and settings that were on the Touch. You cannot selectively restore content - it is all or nothing.
You will need to sync the games back to the iPad as well and  if all of the game apps and music are in your iTunes library on your computer, you can sync all of that content back to the iPad.
If you don't have any of that content at all in iTunes and you have no backup of the iPod, you can download the games and the music again for free as long as you use the same Apple ID and iTunes account that you used to originally purchase the games and the music.
There are some restrictions on this depending upon where you live but if you are in the U.S. you can download the content as I have stated above.

Make a backup of the current phone, and restore the new phone from the backup.  When you do that, your new phone should be a mirror image of your old phone.
