How do you turn off your phone if your sleep/wake button doesn't work anymore?

If a reset doesnt fix it (which it wont - that is likely a hardware issue), then get warranty service.

  • How can I turn off the home screen preview of SMS/text messages on 3GS

How can I turn off the home screen preview of SMS/text messages on my new Iphone 3GS ?

Go to Settings>Messages and choose "No" under "Show Preview" which will hide the text part of the SMS/text message but still will pop up on who its from and just says "text message" on it.
Other than this there is not a complete way to disable the notification.

  • What happens exactly when you turn off your Wi-Fi?

I was wondering, for the sake of knowing it, what exactly happens when you turn off the Wi-Fi of a Mac? I normally turn it off before putting it to sleep, because there have been some ocassions where after waking up, the Wi-Fi is on but not working. So I was thinking, what exactly happens with the radio when the computer goes to sleep or it's turned off.
    * Is it bad to turn off "hard" your Wi-Fi?
    * Is it bad to keep turning on and off the Wi-Fi?
I think that it may have to be something about a Wi-Fi service, but I simply don't know nor found any answer on the Internet.
    Thanks in advance.
Mac Mini, 2.8 GHz Intel Core i5
    OS X 10.10.3

When your Mac goes to sleep, the wifi is automatically turned off. When you wake the Mac up, your wifi will turn back on and hopefully will reconnect a short time later.
The purpose of Sleep is to save on energy, so wifi will be shutdown, as it is a significant energy drain.

  • If you turn off your mac can it continue downloading a file when it is turned back on?

    ...

Safari will usually let you resume a download where you left off. Open its Downloads window, and click the orange "resume" button next to the downloaded file you want.

  • How can I turn off your browser pop-up adds at the bottom?

Since your most update of Firefox software your advertising is annoying and a work distraction. I want to stop them , turn them off. Can I do that?

Hi sgramzay, I am sorry to heir that you are having problems with adds. I want you to know that it is not from Firefox or Mozilla. I do have a way so that you will not be seeing any more of those adds. All you have to do is go to the Add-ons on Firefox and download Add block plus. This is one of the best blocks for Adds.

  • WHAT IF YOU TURN OFF YOUR BLUETOOTH ACCIDENTLY ON THE IMAC?,

HELP!  I was following a help and support task when I accidently switched off my Bloothtooth on my IMAC. Now of course I haven't got a working mouse or keypad to switch it back on. Apple Inc. want £35 to tell me how to do this, I'd imagine remotely...can anyone advise please.....?

Now of course I haven't got a working mouse or keypad to switch it back on.
Turn it on with the power button, in back, or in front, depending on your particular model iMac. The Mac should recognize no devices are detected, and turn on Bluetooth for you. At least that's what newer ones do. If yours really is a PowerPC iMac, you may require a USB mouse or keyboard.

  • When you leave your house with your iPhone, do you turn off your wifi?

Does it use up battery looking for a wifi signal?

I don't, but you can always try turning wi-fi on and off as needed vs always being on to see if doing so makes a significant difference for you. It may make some difference but I doubt that by itself will make a significant difference.

  • How can I turn off the "this application's signature HAS been verified do you want to run it?" message?

I'm running Firefox 22.0 on the Mac, OS X 10.6, Java 6 SE fully updated on the Mac. I have corporate web sites I must use throughout the day that have Java applets associated with them, one of them being the Ephox web text editor. EVERY TIME I open a page that has the editor being invoked on it, I get FOUR messages that say "This application's signature has been verified. Do you want to run this application?" Two of them will have the name of the editor. Two of them will have blanks. ALL of them show "ALWAYS TRUST content from this publisher" as checked. RUN, RUN, RUN, RUN.
Although I have a number of addins installed, I have had to disable them to get these apps to load without crashing.
NOTE that this does not happen in Firefox 22 on Windows 7; nor did it with the same apps (no upgrades at the corp. website) on Firefox 18 or 19 on the Mac.
    Help???

We are sorry this is more like a Java issue than a Firefox one.
However, I found this that may be helpful to solve your problem, check it out: [http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1472494/suppressing-applications-digital-certificate-has-been-verified-do-you-want-to-ru http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1472494/suppressing-applications-digital-certificate-has-been-verified-do-you-want-to-ru]

  • What does a Blinking Earth in a box mean when you turn off your computer.

We had a power outage and when the power come back on I turned the computer on to get on. What came up was a blinking planet earth in a box on a grey screen. After 10 minutes the computer came on. What does this mean? Anyone know?

Hello! It means it has lost its way and needs guidance. It's looking for a network drive to startup from and there are none on your system. Open the system prefs and go to the startup disk pane. Then select your normal disk and all should be well. Tom

  • Can you turn off the automatic guide grids in Aperture books?

Can you turn off the automatic guide grids in Aperture books?

Yes you can do this - either the way you're already doing it by editing the published content or by changing the source code in the template itself.
I won't get into the details here cuz I have all this documented here:
    http://web.mac.com/sboben/iWeb/11Mystics/
See the iWeb Templates page. In short, what you have to do is show package contents for the iWeb app, open the Resources folder, open the .lproj folder for YOUR language, likely english, open the Templates folder and then one by one, for each page-type folder you find in there, you have to show package contents for your chosen template, unzip the index.xml.gz files, find the hyperlink settings in the XML, turn off the underline setting, save the file again and rezip it. Then any NEW pages you build will not contain underlined links. It sounds worse than it is.
If you tell me which template you're using, I'll go look in the file and tell you how to turn the underline code OFF. But you should read my instructions at my site before you even try to do this - I outline some things you should know before even opening up those XML files.
