Can you uninstall previous updates leaving just the latest to do the job?
I now have Java 6 Updates 1, 2, 3, & 5 all of about 111MB each on my computer - Does each need its predecessor to operate or can I now uninstall 1, 2 & 3 leaving just 5 to do the job of all of them?
Equally if I install update 10 could I then uninstall update 5?

I keep getting this message when I try to play a game using FireFox,
"The application requires a previous version of Java. Do you want to continue?"
I looked in my Java settings to see if I can stop that message from popping up, but didn't find it.
I then looked in the FireFox settings, and there isn't anything there either.
I read somewhere that I should uninstall all previous versions of Java on my computer, but I don't have any. I looked at what I have installed and I saw a list of updates, 3, 5, 7, and 11.
Does that mean I should uninstall 3, 5, and 7?
Would that mess up my Java? Thanks for your help.Apparently the game requires a certain Java JRE version that you don't have. If you want to run the game, it sounds like you need to install the version. I assume that it'll tell you what version is required.
In general, you only need one Java version, the current one (excluding the situation aboce where a program want a specific version othre than the current one.)
None of the versions you have are current. I recommend that you uninstall (in reverse order of their install order) all Java installs, then go to www://java.com and install the current Java JRE version. If you need an older version to play your game, you can install it from there, also. -
Can You Use Migration Assistant to Just Get Files and NOT the Username?
Im wondering this because i don't want to tamper with renaming the home folder and losing permissions. So I'm wondering if I can re-install Leopard on my MacBook and then use migration assistant to import all my files from time machine? Or do i just reinstall leopard and go into time machine after its done and just hit restore.
In the end i wanna take my files from my MacBook to my iMac without having to carry the username over, is this possible? If not then i need to freshly install leopard on my MacBook so its identical to the iMac. so they are both identical.it's possible but if all you want to do is change username I HIGHLY recommend you follow these instructions:

reinstalling leopard is completely unnecessary for this. Alternatively, you can create a new user on the current install with the name you want. then migrate all your user data from the current user to the new one. when done, delete the old user. see this link on instructions about what to move besides you own files

When I try to uninstall apple updater I get a message that says " The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable." I dont understand this. How can I finish uninstalling the apple update program?
(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

(5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) downloaded from the Apple Website:

That means your phone was hacked to unlock it.
ONLY the carrier it is locked to can authorize unlocking it.
It may no longer be possible to process a legitimate unlock on a phone that was hacked/jailbroken. The hack can do permanent damage.
You can find out who it was locked to and find out if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.
Don't be surprised if you are never able to use it again. It may be permanently bricked. -
I downloaded Yosemite and now my iPhoto has a bar across it and will not open. I need to update to the latest version. The app store says the latest version is not available in the Canadian Store. What can I do.
Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always. -

This is a copy of ONEof the keys in the registry I changed as told by Apple support today. I also have changed others as instructed by GEAR software support to manually delete GEAR drivers (that I had installed but couldn't delete some of the others they mentioned from Windows system 32. Then some bright spark at work told me I need the Gear drivers so I downloaded the software and installed again.

Can't download itunes update. Keep getting this error message: THe program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem
I researched the advice on the link provided by b noir as well as very similar advice from apple support: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376. It worked for me (for now).
Some things of note:
I did all of the things requested by the link I provided
My computer WOULD NOT uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support. I had to manually remove the folder (also as instructed by the url)
I also uninstalled MobileMe. Was a little different than removing the other apps. Follow instructs provided here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2992
I did not uninstall iCloud
I have to admit it was a bit scary removing all those things. Is important to note that when re-installing Apple, follow steps to do so as Administrator (the right-click thingy and whatnot).

What version of iTunes do you have installed? If you are trying to update to iOS 6 you need iTunes 10.7 or later.
