Can you upgrade a CS3 file to CS6

My client needs an indesign CS6 file and I have created the document in Indesign CS3 as I did not have the time to upgrade my mac as well as my operating system and subscribe to Adobe CC - so I would love some advice please.
I have been able to open the CS3 file in CS6 but there are lines of text outside of the text box hi-lighted in pink which cannot be reformatted. Also the pink hi-light never goes.
I hopefully will get paid for this job and will definitely use the money wisely - I have just survived a week from hell where I doubt very much I'll keep this client.
Thanks for reading this.

Ask in the ID forum and provide more info - screenshots, system info, what object types you use on the page etc. Those pink lines could be legacy guides or clipping masks or something like that...

  • Can you upgrade from Photoshop CS to CS6

I'm changing computers, so I will have a new system. I've had Photoshop CS for some time and have been happy with it. However, I am due for an upgrade, so is it possible to upgrade to CS6 without having to pay full freight for the full CS6 program.
    Thanks!

That's unfortunate, I may have to get the student version from the University bookstore. The regular version at almost $650 is was too pricey.
Is there any advantage to using Lightroom to edit as opposed to PS CS6 - I'm not doing much in the 3D dept., mainly editing photos for print (buyers) and web.

  • Can you upgrade to acrobat 11 from cs3

I have acrobat 9 pro from CS 3.  I bought the upgrade to Acrobat 11.  When I put in the serial number from CS 3 Design Premium it does not work.  Can you upgrade to Acrobat 11 from cs3, and if not can you "return" the upgrade you bought?

    Hi,
No, its not a valid path to upgrade from CS3 to Acrobat 11. You need to contact Adobe Chat Support to return the Acrobat 11 you bought.

Can I open CS3 files in Cs6 For InDesign Also is CS6 Compatible in OS X 10.10

    Yes and yes.

  • Opening CS3 files from CS6 InDesign

We are looking to upgrade the office from CS3 to CS6 Creative Suite. Can InDesign files from CS3 be opened in straight into CS6? If not, what is the best way to access the CS3 files from CS6?

Can they be opened directly? Yes.
Should they be? Harder to answer.
I've never had a problem with any file I created moving from an old to anew version, but we've seen reports here from other users who found converting CS3 or CS4 files to CS5 or CS5.5 seemed to be OK right up until they failed, often after extensive editing and while trying to export PDF. In general, exporting these same files from the earlier version as .inx or .idml, and opening that in the new version did not fail.
CS6 is too new to have had many similar reports, and I want to stress that these problems are probably isolated and indicate, I suspect, some underlying corruption in the original file (which might have caused failure in the original version at some point, too), but I've persaonally adopted a policy of export from the original for any file that is going to get converted. It isn't worth the risk compared to the short amount of time involved in taking precautions.

  • Can you still Buy CS3 Illustrator

Can you still buy CS3 Illustrator ??? If so does anyone have a recommended site to buy it from??
For those who upgraded from CS2 to CS3 did you see any advantage??
I am looking to upgrade in hopes of correcting several software errors.

No officialy you cant buy CS3 annymore.
But you still can buy CS4 i think and than you have CS5 for free.
And yes CS3, 4 and 5 are way better than CS2. CS2 was the worst CS version there was even CS1 was better than CS2.

  • Running OS 10.6.8 on a 3.06 GHz Intel Core i3 Mac can I upgrade from Indesign CS5 to CS6?

Running OS 10.6.8 on a 3.06 GHz Intel Core i3 Mac can I upgrade from Indesign CS5 to CS6?

They do, but what happens when the client(s) move to CC? Of course doing
so opens a new can of worms for you since 10.6.8 is unsupported for
    anything later than CS6.
You should start budgeting for some upgrades sooner rather than later.

I have a MacBook Pro OS X 10.4.11. Can I upgrade it to run Photoshop CS6?  CS6 requires OS X v10.6.8 or better.

You have your answer. If you're asking can you upgrade to 10.6 Snow Leopard then yes. Be aware that to run Photoshop adequately you'll need ram and room on your hard drive, both of which we know nothing about. You'll need to purchase a retail version of 10.6 and then update to 10.6.8.

So, just so I have this straight; would CS upgrade to CS5 or did you mean I would have to purchase CS5 to upgrade to CS6? And If so, does CS upgrade any further? i.e. CS 3 or 4? Thanks for your reply --
CS will not upgrade to CS5. Historically, only CS2-CS4 ever qualified for upgrade to CS5. Those versions are all long superseded and no longer available from Adobe.
Adobe currently only sells CS6 (for outright purchase) and the Cloud (by subscription only). Cloud members have access to both CS6 and CC.
The only way to upgrade to CS6 is from CS5. Adobe no longer sells CS5. Unless you purchase the full version of CS5 from elsewhere (I don't see any point in that in this case) you would not be able to upgrade to CS6. You'd have to buy the full version of CS6. Or subscribe to one of the Cloud plans. PS+LR is an excellent deal if you use those products.

    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;

Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mountain Lion to Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8, Lion, or Mountain Lion installed. Purchase and download Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory

Of this I'm positive: There will be no upgrades for InDesign CS6 (except if there were a security issue). Adobe never adds updates to an earlier version. The current version is InDesign CC. InDesign CS6 will always be as it is now.
What you may have read is that Adobe says it will keep selling InDesign CS6 for the forseeable future.

  • Can you upgrade windows xp to windows 7, can you upgrade windows xp to windows 7

Can you upgrade windows xp to windows 7, even if you partioned your HD with windows xp?

And if that doesn't answer your questions, the answer is "yes, yes" -- but you'll have to do a clean install rather than an "upgrade". I believe you can only go from Vista-> 7, but double check that. You sure the hardware can handle the jump from XP to 7?
A quick expansion on that, they both can use the same or different filesystem formats (for instance, XP might use FAT32 or NTFS... whereas Win7 will most definitely want to use NTFS at least). Not to mention FAT32 would cap your usable hard drive capacity because of mathematical limits (so would NTFS eventually, but these days, with FAT32, you'd notice it.... unless they use some addressing extention mode -- no need to even talk about that).
One definite thing is they will use two different boot loaders. The old using NTLDR and the new using the BOOTMGR/GUID booting uhm... they're just two different mechanisms and monsters -- but you CAN run Windows XP and Windows 7 side by side within your "Windows" partition-- that is a possibility. So you'd literally have a dual booting dual boot machine, haha... Choose OS X or Windows, then have to choose XP or 7. Good luck, buahaha... don't end up in the wrong version of Windows... it could ruin your week! (Official "wrong version" #1 is Windows ME, second official "wrong version" is Windows Vista. I was made to use both at differing points. God help me, I think it left lasting damage).
You actually have a Mac and want to use Windows? Why? LOL. Let's trade. I'm using Windows 7 and would much prefer it be OS X! Actually I was cleaning all of these orphaned folders, DLL files, leftover temporary garbage files and registry keys left behind as a result of using a PC for any period of time... In fact, my virtualized OS X Snow Leopard runs faster being EMULATED than the actual host OS itself! Bass ackwards, that one!
