Can you upgrade from 1.3.0.20 small ovf to 2.1 without migrating to a new server? It sounds like you can just adjust the server settings now. I am currently running 1.3.0.20 and I have enough to do with also needing to upgrade my wlc to 7.4.121.0 and getting the MSE up to 7.4.121.0 without having to stand up a new server if I don't have to. Please share any information you have in regards to your experience with coming from a version 1.2-1.3 small ovf and going to 2.1.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

You are better off standing up a new server.  It's cleaner and safer..... you can always try to upgrade if you wish, but if things don't work out well, then you just wasted a lot of time.  Snapshot the VM and export the floor plans, just in case.  The ova is built around the DB size, so I don't know how well the DB will perform if you try to expand memory or drive space after an upgrade.

How to Install OS X Updates Successfully
    A. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions:
Boot from your current OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. Then select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    B. Make a Bootable Backup Using Restore Option of Disk Utility:
Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.
    C. Important: Please read before installing:
If you have a FireWire hard drive connected, disconnect it before installing the update unless you will boot from this drive and install the update on it. Reconnect it and turn it back on after installation is complete and you've restarted.
You may experience unexpected results if you have installed third-party system software modifications, or if you have modified the operating system through other means. (This does not apply to normal application software installation.)
The installation process should not be interrupted. If a power outage or other interruption occurs during installation, use the standalone installer (see below) from Apple Downloads to update.  While the installation is in progress do not use the computer.
    D. To upgrade:
Purchase the Snow Leopard Retail DVD.
Boot From The OS X Installer Disc:
Insert OS X Installer Disc into the optical drive.
    Restart the computer.
Immediately after the chime press and hold down the "C" key.
Release the key when the spinning gear below the dark gray Apple logo appears.
Wait for installer to finish loading.
    E. If updating:
    Download and install update(s)
    Use Software Update, or
    Download standalone updater(s).

    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space

Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mountain Lion to Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8, Lion, or Mountain Lion installed. Purchase and download Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor

  • Can  you upgrade from CS to CS 3?

i've been using the original CS since it came out. Can I upgrade from CS to CS 3, skipping the CS2 upgrade? if so, are there any special measures i need to take?

    Yes you can upgrade.
I'd keep CS on the machine if you depend on ImageReady

  • Can you upgrade from an upgrade?

I have Final Cut Studio 1 (upgrade from Final Cut Pro). Does this mean I can buy Final Cut Studio 2 (upgrade from Final Cut Studio 1) for $499? Or does that require a full version of Final Cut Studio 1? Because I have the upgrade version. In other words, can I upgrade my upgrade?

Yes, but there are two different upgrade packages (at different prices) depending on what you already have. Since you upgraded from Final Cut Pro to Final Cut Studio 1, I'd suggest calling Apple ( 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-275-2273) to find out which of the two upgrade packages you should purchase. Hopefully you qualify for the FCStudio1-to-FCStudio2 upgrade which is the less expensive of the two.

  • Can you upgrade from os x 10.4 tiger to os x10.6 snow leopard

I have just bought a 2nd had mac book pro 2006 model 2gb ram and 100gb hdd it is running tiger 10.4.11 I have realized that i need to upgrade this to be able to use the lastest i tunes etc and also to be able to sync my iphone 4. can you upgrade straight from tiger to snow leopard 10.6 or do you need to install leopard 10.5 first.
    Many Thanks
    Simon

    Backup first
It is always best to have a full bootable backup before you upgrade. If you fail to do this you will be unable to return to this OS if you decide you don't like the new OS. Also there is a slight chance that an install could lose everything on the Mac. The backup must be to an external hard disk. Preferably use Carbon Copy Cloner to make a bootable backup of the whole disk.
    Erase before the install
Once you have a bootable backup on an external disk it is best to erase the internal disk with the new installer DVD before you install.
    During the install
Preferably do not import any data or preferences from earlier OSs during the install process as this can reintroduce bugs.
    OS numbers and names
    OS X 10.4.x - Tiger
    OS X 10.5.x - Leopard
    OS X 10.6.x - Snow Leopard
    OS X 10.7.x - Lion
    OS X 10.8.x - Mountain Lion

    Upgrade to Leopard
Those wishing to upgrade to Leopard should be aware that install disks can be expensive unless you contact Apple. Details: http://lowendmac.com/deals/best-os-x-leopard-prices.html Standard Leopard installers impose several hardware limitations including speed and RAM size but all these restrictions can be overcome. Google for details. Leopard works well at 500 MHz with 1 GB of RAM and many happy users have less than this.
    Upgrade beyond Leopard
OSs beyond OS X 10.5.8 require an Intel processor. If in doubt check this: Click the apple at the top left of your screen and select 'About this Mac'. This will give you your OS number. Then click 'More Info' to see which processor you have. If it says PowerPC you cannot upgrade to Snow Leopard and above. If you have an Intel Mac it is well worth upgrading to Snow Leopard now and then considering other options after that. You can buy Snow Leopard here: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A

Information about upgrading Snow Leopard to Lion or Mountain Lion: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD256Z/A

Check that your Mac complies with any requirements. If you are not in the US you should use the Change Country link at the bottom of Apple pages.

  • Can you upgrade from Final Cut Pro 3 to Final Cut Pro Sudio 2 with upgrade?

Does anyone know if you can upgrade from Final Cut Pro 3 to Final Cut Pro Sudio 2 with $699 upgrade?
I purchased Final Cut Pro 2 years back and then purchased the Final Cut Pro 3 upgrade. I have not used it in years, but now I want to upgrade to Final Cut Studio 2. Is this possible by just purchasing the upgrade?

Apple's web page has the requirements:
    http://store.apple.com/AppleStore/WebObjects/BizCustom?qprm=78313&productLearnMo re=MA886Z/A
The $699.00 upgrade version requires a valid serial number from a commercial version of Final Cut Studio, Production Suite, or Final Cut Pro 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5. Academic and not-for-resale versions are not eligible for this upgrade.

  • Can you upgrade from a previously upgraded version of LR

I was wondering if you can upgrade to lightroom 5 from a previously upgraded version of Lightroom as I'd like to do this. Thanks.

And, just to clarify, some people have this misconception that an upgrade version of Lightroom makes changes to the previous version to bring it current. The upgrade version, the trial version, and the full version are all the same Lightroom program. Each new version and each new interim update is a complete new installation of the Lightroom program. The only difference is the installation mechanism and what you are allowed to do with the installation.

  • Can you upgrade from CS5 Production Premium to CS6 Master Collection?

I have the student edition of CS5 Production Premium suite and Adobe Acrobat X Pro for Windows and I was wondering if there was a way to upgrade it to the CS6 Master Collection. If there is, how much would it cost? I would like to get InDesign and Dreamweaver. Or would it be easier to try to buy the two programs separate?

I saw that before, but I wasn't sure if it was an upgrade from the CS5 Master Collection or just anything CS5. Shouldn't the upgrade price vary depending on what collection of programs you have? Like shouldn't upgrading from the CS5 Master Collection be cheaper than upgrading from CS5 Production Premium? Will it change if I try to order it?

  • Can you upgrade from LP8 (Studio) to LP9 and still use LP8 on the same mac

I love the idea of upgrading Logic
However, i've been burned so many times by shabby developers (apple included) releasing software that isn't fully operational until at least 4 months after the relase date and not being able to work on projects due to crashes.
With this in mind, i want to know if i do install LP9, will i still be able to use LP8.
Be good to have a safety net i can call on.

Can't answer your question directly, but I bought the full version of Logic 7 and later upgraded to 8. I am able to run both versions, which is essential for me as 7 can open my ancient Logic 2.5 files, but 8 can't!
So it should be the same for Logic 9... hopefully!

  • Can you upgrade from Photoshop CS to CS6

I'm changing computers, so I will have a new system. I've had Photoshop CS for some time and have been happy with it. However, I am due for an upgrade, so is it possible to upgrade to CS6 without having to pay full freight for the full CS6 program.
    Thanks!

That's unfortunate, I may have to get the student version from the University bookstore. The regular version at almost $650 is was too pricey.
Is there any advantage to using Lightroom to edit as opposed to PS CS6 - I'm not doing much in the 3D dept., mainly editing photos for print (buyers) and web.
