Can you upgrade the Apple MacBook MB466LL/A to 8gb ram

can you upgrade the Apple MacBook MB466LL/A to 8gb ram

Apple only tests the MacBook with the RAM that's affordable at the time of manufacture. At that time 4gb RAM sticks ran about $400 each. Once they've tested them they never go back as the RAM drops in price since they're on to the next model by then.
So (Apple) means what they first tested the MacBook at. (Actual) means how much RAM the MacBook is capable of handling.

No. You can sell it or Apple will give you a recycling fee.

Unfortunately the Apple TV doesn't have a web browser so you can't do that.

    Hi,
Upgrading graphics chips on laptops is very difficult and mostly impossible because the chips are soldered to the motherboard. You can upgrade the graphics chip by replacing the motherboard with a compatible one which has a more powerful graphics chip. In your case it is a mobo with an Nvidia GF GT650M with 2GB of DDR5 RAM. However, the motherboard costs approx $600. The part number you need is:  682040-001.
It looks like M7series laptops are compatible with Dv7-6000 series laptops. See a service manual:

    Currently on Debian Wheeze

  • Can you use the apple remote to control tv programs?

Can you use the apple remote control like a tv remote to control tv programs & DVDs on the computer? Everything I've found about the Apple Remote talks about using it for products other than desktops. I watch some regular tv shows on my iMac & would like to be able to use a remote control.
    I have a built-in infrared receiver.
    Thanks!

You should be able to control DVD playback now with the Apple Remote. You may be able to get a bit of functionality with web sites by using Remote Buddy by using it as a virtual mouse and keyboard:
    http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/21872/remote-buddy
but you're not going to get anything close to the sort of functionality you'd get with a remote and a TV.
    Regards.

  • Does the new iMac coming in December have a dvd drive? If not can you use the Apple USB SuperDrive?

Does the new iMac coming in December have a dvd drive? If not can you use the Apple USB SuperDrive?

The soon to be released new iMacs don't have a DVD drive. I don't believe that Apple have updated their site to say their USB drive will work, but the expectation is that it will.
I watched the keynote and when Phil Schiller was presenting the new models I think he mentioned something about it working and he had one on the desk next to the iMac.
I'm going to check the keynote if it's still up and I'll update my post if I'm wrong.

  • Can you upgrade the graphics on a macbook?

I am wondering if you can upgrade the graphics card on a macbook. I've looked in the online apple store but all of the graphic cards are for mac pros or macs with G3-5 processors.
Do the current graphics on a macbook prevent you from playing games on windows when running bootcamp? I mostly play command and conquer, not a graphically demanding game. thanks.

NO, you can't upgrade the graphics card. If it's not that demanding then it would most likely be fine.

  • Can you upgrade the wifi card and if you can how much will it cost

hi i just got a macbook not the pro its the white one and i find it has  a hard time grabbing my wifi and i know its the wifi card because i have 2 iphones and ipod touch and 2 laptops not including my macbook and all of them have no trouble holding the wifi connection so if anyone can help me out i just want to know can i upgrade the wifi card and if i can how much will it cost
ps i cant do any of take it apart my self and install it i just wan to know how much it will cost going through apple
    thanks

Why do people think they are postiing in a notebook forum when if you look around, this is clearly something else.
If you really want a new Mac you have to buy one. That is part of the fun of owning laptops, they are not upgradeable.

  • Can you use the apple time capsule as just a wireless hard drive without using it as a router

Can i use the apple time capsule as just a wireless hard drive without using  a router

You can, but this type of configuration is not recommended or supported by Apple.
Two cautions if you want to try this:
    1)  The Time Capsule has to be configured to "Join" your existing wireless network in this type of setup...and to do that, you must know the exact type of wireless security that your network is using.
    2)  Backups are going to take twice as long. The wireless signal must travel from your computer to the wireless router and then from the wireless router back to the Time Capsule.  Two "hops"......even if the computer is located close to the Time Capsule.
If you want to try this, we can tell you how....but with no guarantees on your results....since this is not officially supported.

  • Can you upgrade the RAM on a Retina Display Macbook Pro?

So I've been looking around for information on whether the RAM on a Retina Macbook Pro can be upgraded and the mixed messages have left me confused. If I take my Macbook Pro (Retina Display) to an Apple store for a RAM upgrade and offer to pay them for the RAM and installation, would they do it for me?
Thanks and if you can't, please explain why.
I am aware that the RAM is soldered into the motherboard making it very difficult to perform the upgrade, but will some stores actually do it for you?

The MacBook Pro with Retina display is soldered onto the logic board, so RAM can't be added without replacing the logic board.
I know there are shops that may try to add more RAM without replacing the logic board, but they aren't official resellers and if something happens, the warranty will be voided. Apple won't do it.
If you want, you can sell your MacBook Pro and get another one with more RAM. It's the best way to do it, because I don't think you want to spend a lot of money replacing the logic board or you want to take it to a non-official technical support, putting the Mac in risk

  • Can you upgrade the hardware in a MacBook Air 2012

Hi, my name is Mark Bourke. I was given a present of a MacBook air 13" maxed out (everything upgraded to the max). It was bought for me because I liked the look of it and I had been keeping an eye on it for a while. Prior and during this I was gaming on my Xbox until I got fed up of paying the fees and started to game on my mac. I started gaming on OS 10 and then bootcamped over to Windows 7 because of the lack of games and poor support for gamepads. It was then that I realised I needed more processing power and VRAM. I looked into an eGPU and had my mind set but then I thought I would ask you if I could change the internal GPU. Then with the release of the new MacBook air's and the 4th gen Intel haswell CPU's I wondered if I would change the CPU too. Could you tell me if this is in any way possible or if I am just wasting my time. Thanks

Since the device is not user upgradeable, you will have to scoure the internet for the specifics of the logicboard, chipsets used and so on to figure out compatability and what would or would not work.  That is not general knowledge information, so you'll have to search and find it all yourself.  I'd also wager you'll end up spending as much or even more moeny than a new machine would be.
Honestly, to me, it would not be even remotely worth the effort.  Sell the current MBA and buy what you really want or need.  If PC gaming is really your big thing, I would honestly suggest getting a Windows native PC and not an Apple product in the first place (you'll get better gaming experience for less money).

  • Can you upgrade a apple itouch 8gb to a 32gb

i have a apple itouch 8gb but i would like to upgrade it to a 16gb is this possible as i can not find if this has a hard drive, can you help, regards

It does not have a hard drive and you cannot increase it's capacity above what you already have, either to 16GB (as in the body of your message) or to 32GB (as in the subject of this topic)!
Your best option would be to sell your existing iPod and put the money you get for it towards another iPod.

  • Can You Upgrade the Processor in a Lenovo B570 Laptop?

I've gotten all sorts of mixed answers, so I'm going to ask directly here at Lenovo: Can I upgrade my B570 from a Pentium B950 2.10GHz Dual core? And if so, what processors are compatible with my motherboard?

I did it! I didn't think it was possible! I sucessfully upgraded my B570 from an intel core i3 2350m to a core i7 2720m. Even though one is 35 watt and the other is 45 watt, it still worked. The i7 is running hotter but nothing horribly bad.  50C to near 70 C.  I followed a take apart youtube video. It's sort of complex because the CPU is on the upper side of the motherboard. I only had 1 screw left over!! YAY!  Everything appears to be working fine. My WIFI wasn't working at first but I went back in and reset the bios to default settings and reset comptuer and bam now it's working.  The speed increase wasn't at all what I had expected.  I just upgraded my ram from 4 GB to 8 GB a few days back and that actually provided the biggest speed boost of all.
So it CAN be DONE as long as you get a core i3, i5, i7 series that starts with a 2*** (sandy bridge). I also used the long parts manual provided by lenovo in order to find a chip compatable with my b570 system. They list a number of chips. I bought the next to the most fastest they had listed because the price ot the BEST one just wasn't worth the cost.
    AGAIN...it does WORK!

  • How can you upgrade the Oracle's db java version?

Hi - Is there away to upgrade the database's java version? We are on UNIX with Oracle 8.1.6. I would like to upgrade it to Java 1.4, if possible. As far as I know, we do not currently use java for anything. We like to use java stored procedures.
    Thanks

Is it possible (and if so, how) to determine the version of Java used to compile a class file?
I've recently had to install both JDK 1.5 and JDK 1.4 on my system, and although I've got my paths set, etc.
I'd like to check my class files after compiling so I can rest assured that they were compiled with the appropriate version.
    Can this be done? How?
Thanks. The answer is yes and no. You can check the VM compability/compliance version of the compiled class. But e.g a JDK 1.5 compiler can compile classes that are compatible with a 1.4 VM (but that doesn't mean that it is guaranteed to execute on that VM without any errors)
