Can you upload photos that iPhoto "deleted" but are still on camera?

I was in the middle of uploading to iPhoto from my Sony Cybershot DSC-W120 when the camera's battery died. iPhoto said there'd been an interruption, etc. When I went to re-try uploading the photos once the battery was charged, only some of the photos uploaded. Unfortunately I didn't realize this and so when iPhoto asked me if I wanted to delete the photos on the camera, I said yes.
I have looked on the camera and the photos are still there in the same place they always appear when I review them, although some of them have a circle w/ an X through it in the bottom right-hand corner of the image. iPhoto says there are no photos to upload.
I disconnected the camera, turned it off, quit iPhoto, started up the camera, reconnected it; iPhoto started up again, but still says there are no photos to upload. I did not use the camera to delete the images, I only clicked "delete photos" in iPhoto. I have noticed that only clicking "delete photos" in iPhoto means that the images remain in the camera, though perhaps in a different folder. It is only when I actually use the camera to delete the photos that they are truly gone.
Does anyone have suggestions as to how to get these images to upload to iPhoto? Thanks so much.

Welcome to the Apple user to user assistance forums
1 - try image capture (in your applications folder)
2 - mount the camera to the desktop and see if you can download the photos using the finder
3 - if that does not find them then use media recover - http://www.mediarecover.com/ - the trial version will tell you what it can recover before you purchase
4 - in the future it is recommended that you never have iPhoto (or any other computer program) delete your photos - always import your photos (using a card reader is better in many people's opinion) and properly disconnect your camera, test them in iPhoto and then use your camera to format the card hereby deleting the photos and reformatting the card

How can you upload photos from iPhoto to FaceBook without having the sync where if you delete from iPhoto you delete

I think you have to have the files on your HD. So either put them in iPhoto or copy them to a folder in Finder, and from there you can upload to Facebook.

check the overall trash on the 'dock'.when files are deleted from programmes, they always go to the general 'Trash'  as general files and you will need to delete form there as well. if there is still a lot of missing files taking up space try reloading or deleting 'Iphoto' and uploading again.

Error message when compiling book "file is corrupt" referring to a photo.  Or "cannot find original photo".  Can you use photos that have been "edited" out of "Book Mode"?

I did copy it to my desktop, but it still won't let me open it.  I think the file on the disc might be corrupt or something like that though the cd itself checks out fine as far as viruses go.  I was able to verify the disc, but that's about it.  My husband tried it on his iMac and we have the same issue.  It's unzipping the folder, but won't let us open the folder on both the Mac Book Pro or the iMac by double clicking, going to file/open or right clicking.  It just keeps saying the same message as I posted above.  I think I'm just going to have the client put the pictures on either a memory card or a USB memory stick so she won't have to compress the files for zipping purposes.  It's been too frustrating trying to open this folder on this cd she gave me.  She said she created/zipped the cd on her Mac Book Pro but it sure won't open on mine.

  • Can you move photos from iphoto to a cd-r disc

Can you move photos from iphoto onto a blank CD-R disc? If so, how?

Take the photos you want to burn from iPhoto and put them in a folder on your desktop. Then, insert a blank CD and drag the photos onto the CD icon. Wait for them to finish uploading onto the disk and eject it. Insert it again just to see if this works; double click on the CD icon and ypu should see the same folder, with all of your photos in it. Hope this helps.

  • HT201269 How can I upload photos that I had taken on my Android phone to my Iphone 5c

Is there a way to upload photos that I saved to a flash drive, from my old Android phone to my new Iphone 5C?

While this might not be the best method, I have found it best served what I needed when transferring my Android HTC photos to my iphone 5:
    http://www.macvideoeditor.com/transfer-data-from-android-to-iphone/
First, I don't have a Gmail account, and even if I had, I would not wish to mix my email addresses with my iphone address book by syncing Gmail with my iphone address book. As a result, I used the above method in order to manually export my Android HTC photos to my computer and in turn import them to my iphone 5.

  • Can I retrieve a photo that was deleted but still being used as Caller ID?

so i take a picture from my iphone camera and set this photo as the caller id photo for one of my contacts. my address book on my macbook syncs my contacts and now this photo appears in my address book too for this contact. i accidentally delete this photo from my iphone photo album before uploading it into iphoto on my macbook. but when i view the contact in my iphone the photo is still there, it still shows up when i get a call from this person, and the photo is still in my address book when i get emails from this contact. the problem is i still have no actual copy of this picture saved anywhere and im dying to save & back up this photo. obviously im happy its still associated with this contact but there must be a way to get this photo back somehow off the phone and saved somewhere either in the photo album or back onto my macbook... can someone PLEASE help! thanks!

If not saved from Photo Stream, no, it's gone.
Photo Stream is temporary storage only.

  • How can I recover photos that were deleted accidentally?

    I am using iPhoto 6.0.6
I accidentally deleted a folder of photos in iPhoto and then emptied the trash from within the program. Is there any way to recover these files? I have not emptied the trash from finder, but I have closed iPhoto.
Is there any possible way to recover these files, either using an option from within OS X or a 3rd party solution?

Don't you have a backup of your library you can recover those photos from? The Finder trash is not connected to iPhoto's trash bin. If you emptied iPhoto's trash then the photos have been deleted from the hard drive. You can run the of SubrosaSoft FileSalvage in it's demo mode to see if it can find and recover those photos before you purchase it. Others have had success in recovering photos as long as there hasn't been a lot of new files added to the HD that might overwrite those files.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • How Can You Upload Photos In Bulk

I have Photoshop Elements 11 is there anyway to send photos in bulk within the program? Also, would this feature be available in Elements 13?

    Hi,
With that sort of quantity I suspect that using email is not practicable as, depending on the size of the photos, you may well hit limits imposed by service providers.
I think that the best approach would be to use some form of cloud storage. There are various companies offering cloud storage - Dropbox, Microsoft Office 365 comes with some storage and others.
You may find that some sites will limit the number you can upload at a time depending on the product you choose.
I'm not too sure that Revel will work for you but you could check it out at Adobe Revel
Needless to say, I would do a test run with a few photos before doing all 350.
As a side question, is the order of the photos on the DVD important?
In Photoshop Elements, you can create an album and arrange the photos as you want them. If you then just copy them out to DVD, they may appear in a different order to anyone looking at the DVD.

  • Can you recover files that were deleted?

Hi everyone, is there anyway to find files that were deleted about 2-3 months ago? I don't have timeline and carbonite does not show the files either so they have to have been deleted over a month ago. I am a photographer and cannot find a clients session and I am afraid it was deleted...
    Thanks,
    Jayme

    Basics of File Recovery
    Files in Trash
If you simply put files in the Trash you can restore them by opening the Trash (left-click on the Trash icon) and drag the files from the Trash to your Desktop or other desired location.  OS X also provides a short-cut to undo the last item moved to the Trash -press COMMAND-Z.
If you empty the Trash the files are gone. If a program does an immediate delete rather than moving files to the Trash, then the files are gone.  Recovery is possible but you must not allow any additional writes to the hard drive - shut it down. When files are deleted only the directory entries, not the files themselves, is modified. The space occupied by the files has been returned to the system as available for storage, but the files are still on the drive. Writing to the drive will then eventually overwrite the space once occupied by the deleted files in which case the files are lost permanently. Also if you save a file over an existing file of the same name, then the old file is overwritten and cannot be recovered.
    General File Recovery
If you stop using the drive it's possible to recover deleted files that have not been overwritten by using recovery software such as Data Rescue II, File Salvage or TechTool Pro.  Each of the preceding come on bootable CDs to enable usage without risk of writing more data to the hard drive.  Two free alternatives are Disk Drill and TestDisk.  Look for them and demos at MacUpdate or CNET Downloads.
The longer the hard drive remains in use and data are written to it, the greater the risk your deleted files will be overwritten.
Also visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on Data Recovery.
Unfortunately, after such a long time, if the drive has been in use then the space occupied by the deleted files has most likely been overwritten by new files making the old ones unrecoverable.

  • I can't upload photos to iPhoto, memory is full??

HELP!!!!   I love photography & I Just shot this beautiful wedding and I'm not able to unload to my iphoto...  I have iphoto (9.4.3) version & mac os x 10.8.5
how can I create different library's  and make sure I dont upload any duplicate photos?  I'd also like to delete all of my kids (1,000's) of icam photo shoots from my computer..

What do you mean that your memory is full?  Macs will use virtual memory on the hard drive is more is needed.  Do you mean that your hard drive is full? How much free space do you have on your HD?  If that's the case you should stop using the Mac immediately and make arraingements to move enought files off of the hard drive so that you can a minimum of 10-15 Gb of free space.
One can move their iPhoto and/or iTunes libraries to an EHD that is formatted OS X Extended (journaled) and run them from there.  That will free up lots of free space so your system and applications will run more efficiently and quickly.
