Can you use a nano cable to charge an Iphone

Im trying to charge my iphone with my nano cable. The phone is completely dead and it doesnt seem to be working. Any idea?

Deggie,
Apologies if I'm coming across picky, however I still believe that saying on a interational forum "NEVER use front USB" is rather bad advice.
It makes no mention of desktop/laptop for example. My work laptop, from a well known manufacturer using Windoze XP op sys has USB ports on the front. Someone searching this forum might come across this post, see the advice and take it.
I wouldn't like to speculate on the market share of pre-built machines vs custom built/gaming PCs. However if I was to use my family and friends for comparison, not one of them uses a factory built PC, they are all shop built, but from independent stores, custom built, with powered USB ports directly from the mainboard to the front of the case, I'm based in the UK but don't know whether that makes a difference.
I'm not having a go, I just like to be helpful and if anyone else comes across this problem, assuming the cable and iPhone are fine, then it seems one of the stages troubleshooting the problem would be to check that the particular USB port is powered, and if not sure, try the other ones. To say NEVER use it would be harsh, and confusing for users like me (if I didn't know better) that have neither front or rear usb ports (such as my macbook pro) or have front ports (such as my work laptop) that are powered and work a treat at charging my iPhone.

  • HT1665 Recently read on a deal site forum page that you can only use Apple lightning cables to charge iPads running iOS 7 or higher. Is that the case or will any 8-pin to USB cable work? Thx in advance for any helpful replies.

Due to a lot of bad press that Apple was getting due to burnt chargers, shocked users (the electrical kind...), etc., due to the lousy third party El Cheapo brand generics, as of iOS 7 the cable must be Apple-certified before the iGadget deigns to use it for charging purposes. Unfortunately (for Apple) the old traditional USB to 30-pin cable is just that, a straight piece of wire, and can't be validated by the iGadget. But lo & behold, the new gear uses the new Lightning cable, which contains an embedded chip that CAN be validated and lousy imitations disabled from use.

Can you use wallpapers for the icons on the iphone 3g? If so, How

On the Mac to save a picture from a web page <CTRL> click on the picture then choose Save Image As... and save it onto the desktop. Once you have collected all your pictures onto the desktop open iPhoto and Import all the images into an iPhoto Album. Quit iPhoto.
Open iMovie, then go to the Toolbar along the right side of the iMovie window and click on the camera icon to browse through your iPhoto Library. Find your pictures then drag them into the Project Browser window.

  • Can you use new Nano with iTunes 6?

I'd like to get the new iPod Nano, but I have Mac OS 10.2.8, so I can't get iTunes 7. It says on the system requirements that I need 7, but is it really necessary? (i.e. is it possible to use the new iPod Nano with iTunes 6?)

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
While I haven't tried, I would image the answer is no.
Usually when iPods are released with a new iTunes version, they aren't made to be/are made not to be compatible with previous iTunes versions.
It may work, but I can't be sure either way (someone else may have tested this).
In the past, even if iTunes updated the iPod, there tended to be problems syncing.

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Can I use my Samsung Wall USB charger to charge iPod Nano (6th gen)? (output is 5.0V, 0.7A)

Can I use my Samsung Wall USB charger to charge iPod Nano (6th gen)? (output is 5.0V, 0.7A)
    http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Charger-Detachable-ETA0S20JBE-ECC1DS2UBE/dp/B004R0 5W1G
My biggest concern is that it will fry the circuitry. I don't know what the Amp output is on the Mac-branded wall charger, but I think that USB 2.0 usually only goes up to 0.5A.

Quick answer is: You can if it works, but it is not recommended.
    Hope this helps.

Can you use the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display straight out of the box, or do you have to charge it up fully before you can use it. I do not want to damage the laptop by misusing the battery.

Attach the charger and start charging the battery to 100%.  The good news is that after you have connected the charger, you may start using the MBP as well.

    12. Can I output via Mini DisplayPort to an RCA or S-Video connection?
No. The Mini DIsplayPort connector allows output to Mini DisplayPort, DisplayPort, VGA, DVI, and HDMI connections when using the proper cables and adapters. However, output to RCA, Component, or S-Video connections is not supported.
    - The current Mini as one HDMI out. The Min somes with a HDMI to DVI adopter. Howver, the HDMI output only outputs digital signal and thus yo will need a converter to convert that digital signal to analogue composite
    - The Min also comes with a Thunderbolt port which accepts the min display connector. However. based on 12 above it does not seem to support composite. The 12 is from

  • Can I use my 10W iPad 2 charger for the new iPad air?

I need several chargers - work, home, travel. Therefore, can I use the 10W chargers from previous iPad models for the new iPad Air? I don't want to purchase 2/3 additional chargers when I purchase my new iPad. Also, can I use the 12W iPad air charger for my iPhone? I don't want to fry it so want to confirm beforehand.

The new model will have the 12W charger, so you should be able to use it with the new model - from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4327 :
iPad models come with one of two different adapters. iPad (third generation) and earlier comes with a 10W adapter while iPad (4th generation) comes with a 12W adapter. iPad mini comes with a 5W adapter.
While these USB Power Adapters are designed for use with iPad or iPad mini, you can use them to charge all iPhone, iPad, iPad mini, and iPod models by connecting them with either the Lightning to USB cable or the 30-pin to USB cable.
