Can you use a regular mouse with a MacBook Pro?

I have difficulty using the mouse that came with my father's Mac desktop. I just ordered a MacBook Pro and I'd like to know if
I can use a regular mouse with it?

Yes any brand mice work with all Mac computers.

  • Can you use any external display with a macbook?

    hi all,
I was just wondering, can you use any external display with a macbook? (i.e. gateway, and dell displays?)

    To original poster:
    Yes.
Provided you have the appropriate ports and cables, that is. Some monitors do not have all vga, dvi-i, dvi-d, hdmi, etc. ports, and it can be misleading that all those technologies appear to be compatible via conversion cables (they aren't all meant to be compatible, so look it up on the internet before buying).

  • Can I use an USB disc with my macbook pro bought in 2005.  What capacity will it take 2.00 or 3.00?

can I use an USB disc with my macbook pro bought in 2005.  What capacity will it take 2.00 or 3.00?

The first MacBook Pro's were not released until the beginning of 2006, and they had USB 2 ports.
Anything available new in 2005 would have been a PowerBook G4 and they also had USB 2 ports.
A USB 3 disk will just transfer data slower then it could do, if you plug it into a USB 2 port though, so you can buy either.

Sure in some ways. What exactly do you want to do with the Note 3 and the Mac?

I received an apple A1082 monitor this past weekend from a friend and we couldn't, and still can't, figure out how it can be used with my MacBook Pro. I know that I need an adapter, but where does it get power from? Thanks in-advance. Richie.

  • How can I use my Magic mouse in a Macbook pro?

I have an iMac and I'm using the magic mouse. I just got a Macbook Pro and would like to use the mouse with this computer too.
How can I make it work in both computers?
I won't use them at the same time of course. I use one during the day, and the other at night so I'm hoping to make the mouse work in both.
    Thanks in advance!!

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
You have been very helpful! I will try that! Thanks!!
PS: One last question, will it work if I put it in "sleep" mode or it has to be shut down?
    Thanks again!

  • Can i use my netgear stora with a macbook pro?

thinking of purchasing a mac book pro 15",would i be able to use my netgear stora with it?
if i can ,is it easy to set up.
big jump for me moving from microsoft to apple ,trying to find out as much as i can ,

Yes, it has a NEXXTECH PS/2 adapter to UPS which I connect to my old laptop (emachines). Is it compatible with Apple?
If that Nexxtech adapter converts to USB, it probably will work fine for alpa and numerics.
What sometimes happens is a Mac does not recognize a keyboard, so it will ask you to type some specific characters, like z and m and . If you get lucky, it will recognize the layout and assign the keys correctly and all will work. Command and Option may take some playing around to get them straight. Some shortcut combinations may never work properly.

  • Can I use an Easycap DC60 with my macbook pro?

Hi, I have purchased an Easycap DC60 and downloaded Easycap viewer but it doesn't seem to recognise the device. Have I bought something which is not compatible or is there something out there that I can use? I wanted this to copy old VHSC tapes from a camcorder and edit on my macbook. Any help on this would be gratefully received.

  • How can I use a USB keyboard with my Macbook Pro?

My MBP will not recognize my brand new USB keyboard.
I have tried the keyboard on two other Macbook Air's and it works perfectly.
    My MBP:
    OS X Yosemite
    10.10.1
Macbook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013)
    2.4 GHz Core i5
    8GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Mac HD
    Graphics Intel Iris 1536 MB
Thoughts on how I can resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Greg

    Brenden,
    Thanks for the reply.
I've gone your suggestions in detail and the keyboard is still not working.
From what I can tell this is a known issue with Yosemite.

Someone at Apple must be able to figure this one out.

  • Can you use 5.1 speakers with a macbook

I want to buy some 5.1 speakers and use them for my macbook. Can this be done or will only 2 speakers work?

    Hi brad
You can use 5.1 speakers, but you have to choose your purchases very carefully.
    Here are your options:
    A. If you ONLY ever want to watch 5.1 DVDs then you can buy a home cinema sound system with an optical (toslink) connector. BE AWARE THAT THIS OPTION IS LIMITED.  You can only watch media which has pre-recorded embedded 5.1 audio.  This excludes many games.
    B. If you want to watch 5.1 DVDs and play games that have surround sound then you need to purchase a 5.1 usb "sound card", and a 5.1 speaker system. For the USB sound card, I have a Hercules Game Surround Muse Pocket LT3.  This would appear to be the latest version on Hercules' web site: http://www.hercules.com/us/Sound-Cards/bdd/p/56/muse-pocket-lt/
You will also need a speaker system that uses 3 stereo input jacks (Front L+R, Rear L+R, Centre+Subwoofer). Not all systems will have these inputs. I have an Altec Lansing system that works nicely with the Hercules.
Whatever you buy, make sure that the shop will take it back if it should prove unsuitable.

  • I have to use a wireless mouse with my MacBook Pro because the touchpad does not consistently work.  Now, the wireless mouse is not consistently staying connected.  Any ideas??

Why doesn't my Apple wireless remote remain connected?  It is frequently giving me a "lost connection" signal and since the touch pad works intermittently it has become frustrating.

  • Can I use 2 magic mouse on 1 macbook pro/air in different offices?

I want to be able to use a macbook air/pro in 2 offices. In each office I want a magic mouse/wireless keyboard/27" thunderbolt display. When I take my laptop to each office will they just work or do I have to re-pair each time? Or is there a solution to make this all work easily?  Thanks.

They should just work, if nobody pairs them to another computer while yours is gone.

  • Can you use external hard drives with the HP Omni 10 5600US

Since this a Windows tablet, can you use external hard drives with the HP Omni 10 5600US?
I know there is a micro-sd reader for additional storage but can you use the usb for external hard drives like a regular pc?
I tried looking at the spec's for this tablet and it said the usb port was host only. I'm not sure what that means exactly.

Yes you can.  You'll need to purchase a USB OTG (on-the-go) cable.  I recommend using a drive that has its own power supply but I've successfully used small USB powered drives also.
