My daughter is going to the US and Canda soon and we want to get an ipad to contact.
Can you use an ipad purchased in Australia?
Also is it best to buy a prepaid sim card here or overthere?

The 3G telecom in the USA is AT&T, so she will need an AT&T microSIM and then to activate a data plan from the iPad.

You can only buy content from your own country's store, to buy from the US store you will need to be in the US with a US billing address on your account. However you can only sync all media from one iTunes library/computer. However, one can sync music and videos with different computers/libraries if you have iTunes setup to manually sync. See that method included here:

If you purchased the phone form a company in Korea, then it is likely that the phone is locked, so no you will not be able to use it in the US except with the international roaming feature enabled from your company which can be quite expensive. The only way that you would have an unlocked phone is if you purchased it from an Apple approved retailer in Korea that sells unlocked phones.
You will not be able to use any US CDMA carrier either - this is not possible.

Can I use an Airport Extreme Base Station from the USA in Europe ?

A friend of mine gave me an Airport Extreme Base Station from the USA to Germany. When I hook it up to my PB by ethernet cable the Computer can't find the Base Station at all. If I use my Sonnett Aria Extreme PCI card it finds the station but in the pop-up menu asking in which country I want to use the airport station it only offers North and South American countries. If you are unable to get the iPod into Disk Mode to try and restore it, it's a very good indication, as mentioned in the article, that the iPod's hard drive is damaged and in need of replacement either by Apple or a third party repair company.

You could use LibreOffice which is a free open source Office clone. The only downside is that by default it ddoesn't save in Office formats, you have to specifically choose that option. GoogleDocs is another free Office like product.
