Can you use Dual Monitors on an HP Pavilion "All-In-One" Desktop?

Hello,
Just seeing the words "dual monitors" on the forum makes me realize I have several extra flatscreen monitors sitting around and I always loved them at work. I have an HP Pavilion All-In-One Desktop and is it possible to run dual monitors on an All-In-One desktop and what would I need in the way of accessories (cables, etc.) to be able to do that, if it's possible? Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi,
What is your AIO computer ? Many AIO computers do not have video out ports. You can use something like:

HP - 23" Touch-Screen TouchSmart All-In-One Computer - 8GB Memory - 2TB Hard Drive ? I used a HDMI to HDMI cable and the monitor was not  recognized.

Here are the specs for your HP TouchSmart 520-1070 Desktop Computer. As previously stated your computer Doesn't have a HDMI output, instead it has a HDMI input. This is designed to let you connect a game console, a DVD/Bluray player, etc. to use as a monitor.
If you wish to conect a second monitor to your computer, you will need to use a USB-to-video adapter such as the EVGA UV Plus+ UV39 or EVGA UV Plus+ UV19. Using an adapter like these with the touch feature of your computer may cause issues with pointer control and you may need to disable the touch feature to use "extended desktop".

Can you use a external hard drive to keep all your iTunes info on it

    Yes.
The easiest way is to copy the whole iTunes folder out to the external drive, then press and hold down shift as you click the icon to start iTunes. Keep holding shift until asked to "Create or choose a library". Choose the library on the external drive.

  • Can I use dual monitors in Premiere Elements 10?

I've been using Vegas Movie Studio until now. And I wonder if I even in Premiere Elements can use dual monitors. Not just to pull over the viewing part of a screen. But watch the movie in a small window on one screen with the timeline and still have the movie in full screen on the other. As this (in Vegas Movie Studio).

Yes, you can use dual monitors with but a few little tweaks, perhaps some tweaking of the OS (what OS are you using, BTW?) and then a tiny bit of work in PrE's Workspace.
In PrE, you will want to Undock Panel Headers, and this will allow you to drag almost all Panels, to suit your needs. Note: the Timeline's position is locked, but I think that is the only Panel, that behaves that way.
Now, you might need to set up your display in your OS's Control Panel>Display, but that should be easy, and has probably already been done, if you were successfully running Vegas in the dual-monitor environment.
I think that just Undocking Headers will get you where you want to go.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS - others might have a few more tips for you. While I run PrPro on my dual-monitor system, I only have PrE on my laptop, and PrE has a few differences, and limitation, than does PrPro. Trust what others, like John T, Steve and Neale tell you.

  • Can't use dual monitors

I have an  HP ENVY Desktop - 700-515xt CTO.    It has 1 DVI input, no VGA input.   It has the Intel Integrated Graphic.   I want to use 2 monitors  (am using Windows 7).    I tried using a DVI to VGA dual cable, but it says the 2nd monitor is not connected to the computer.
    How can I use a 2nd monitor?

  • I can't use dual monitors since upgrading to Lion

I use my HD TV as a second monitor for streaming movies etc.  Since upgrading to Lion, I can only use one monitor at a time.  Is anyone else having this problem?
    Thanks

Yes, the blanking of secondary monitors is an issue.
In fact, it is the reason why I went back to Snow Leopard on my 3-screen iMac
I encourage you to contact Apple with feedback
I have taken the following actions:-
    Provided feedback to Apple viahttp://www.apple.com/feedback/aperture.html
    Provided feedback to Apple viahttp://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
Submitted a bug/enhancement request via my free Apple Developer account
Written to pretty much every mainstream Mac publication
Encouraged every poster, like yourself, to raise this with Apple in your own words
Next week, I will call Apple Support under the AppleCare agreement for my iMac
Please give them feedback, and we might get this silly design decision changed.

    Kaymac2, welcome to the forum.
You would have to add a discrete "PCI Express x16, video card" that has two connectors; DVI-D, DVI-I, HDMI, etc.  The Integrated Video is not available when a video card is installed.
Adding a video card may require a power supply unit (PSU) upgrade, as well.  Most mid-level video cards require a minimum of 400W to operate properly.  The PSU in the computer is 350W.

  • Can you print double sided on a HP photosmart all in one plus e-B210a

Hi, I hope someone can help, I'm having trouble printing double sided on this printer, does anyone know how this can be done.

As best I can tell, this printer does not have automatic duplex printing available. You need to print the even pages, turn them upside down and reinsert them and print the odd pages, using Paper Handling in the Print dialog. You may need to print in reverse order when printing the even pages, as I recall. It has been a while since I had a printer without automatic duplexing. It is a feature which I insist upon.

  • I have 12 core with Quatro 4000 and 5770, I want to use dual monitor setup, monitors are NEC with Spectraview-II.  How do I connect?  4000 only has 1 Display Port and 1 DVI.  5770 has 2 of each, if I use both 5770 Display Ports, does the 4000 contribute?

I just bought a 12 core with Quatro 4000 and 5770, I want to use dual monitor setup, monitors are NEC with Spectraview-II.  How do I connect?  4000 only has 1 Display Port and 1 DVI.  5770 has 2 of each, if I use both 5770 Display Ports, does the 4000 contribute any work at all?  I read where on a PC they would work together, but on a MAC they do not.
I read that Display Port has higher band width than DVI, NEC monitors for best performance they recommend using DIsplay Port.
When I was setting this up I looked at a Nvidia Quadro 4000, unfortunately it was for PC, it had 2 Display Ports, in the Mac version they reduce it to one.  I did not think there could be a difference.
Mainly want to use it for CS6 and LR4.
    How to proceed???
I do not want to use the Quadro 4000 for both, that would not optimize both monitors, one DP and 1 DVI.  Using just the 5770 would work but I do not think the 4000 would be doing anything, and the 5770 has been replaced by the 5870.more bandwidth.
Any ideas, I am a Mac newbie, have not ever tried a Mac Pro, just bought off ebay and now I have these problems.
As a last resort I could sell both and get a 5870.  That would work, I'm sure of that, it's just that I wanted the better graphics card.
    Thanks,
    Bill

    The Hatter,
I am a novice at Mac so I read all I can.  From what I understand the NEC monitors I bought require Display Port for their maximum performance.  The GTX 680 only has DVI outputs.  Difference from what I understand is larger bandwidth with the DP.
You said I have the 4000 for CUDA.  I am not all that familiar with CUDA and when I do read about it I do not understand it.
A concern I have is, that if I connect the 2 high end NEC monitors via the 5770, using it's 2 Display Ports I would have nothing connected to the 4000.  Is the 4000 doing anything with nothing connected?  I read where in a PC system the 2 cards would interact but in a Mac system they do not.
Bottom line, as I see it, the 4000 will not be useful at all to me, since I want a dual monitor set-up.
So far the 5870 seems the best choice, higher band width than the 5770, and it has 2 Display Ports to optimize the NEC monitors.
I'm not sure how fine I am splitting hairs, nor do I know how important those hairs are.  I am just trying to set up a really fast reliable system that will mainly be used for CS6 and LR4.  Those NEC monitors are supposed to be top notch.

  • What kind of KVM switch can I use to monitor sun rack with 490s, 245s, and

    Hi,
What kind of KVM switch can I use to monitor sun rack with 490s, 245s, and T2000s ?
    Ushas Symon

It sounds like the customer and server room operator are using a Microsoft/X86 mindset. There are several selling points on using RSCs & SCs. First off are the big 3 that are easy for any good server room operator to understand: cost, space & power. If you don't have to buy a 1U Tripp-lite pull out rack KVM console ($1700) and a video card for each of your SUN servers ($400, yes SUN vid cards are $$$), you start off by saving several thousand dollars.
Next you need to let them know that you require remote access to the systems from your desk and a standard KVM doesn't allow this (with Unix, if you have to get up from your desk then its a hardware problem). They can choose to purchase a network enabled KVM, but that adds $700 to your $1700 KVM. By using the SC you will be able to administer the system remotely.
Third, remember that SUNs do not show all the critical boot information on a frame-buffer console output. If you are in diagnostic mode during boot, the monitor doesn't show results until it completes. If some process is stuck (missing NFS or fibre-channel hard mounts, memory tests, etc) then you need to be able to see it to fix the problem. Plus, console frame-buffers only give you 25 lines of output that you can't scroll back.
The only small hitch is security. The new SCs (on T5220s) have SSH built in, but the older V240s and V490s use telnet which some security people balk at. The solution that we used is to put the older system SCs on a private LAN. Access to that private LAN from our intranet is via a SSH enabled dual-homed (non-routing) workstation with local user accounts. We SSH to that workstation & then telnet to the SC on the relevant server. That solution allows me to access our servers that are 40 miles away, saving response time to solve customer problems. A crude diagram is below:
    your workstation------intranet------[dual homed, non-routing workstation]------[inexpensive switch]------[server SC]
    Good luck.

  • Can you use any external display with a macbook?

    hi all,
I was just wondering, can you use any external display with a macbook? (i.e. gateway, and dell displays?)

    To original poster:
    Yes.
Provided you have the appropriate ports and cables, that is. Some monitors do not have all vga, dvi-i, dvi-d, hdmi, etc. ports, and it can be misleading that all those technologies appear to be compatible via conversion cables (they aren't all meant to be compatible, so look it up on the internet before buying).
