After you connect the iPhone to your Mac launch iTunes.
Select the iPhone under Devices left side of the iTunes window.
Select the Music tab from the menu.
Make your selections for the songs you want synced the click the Sync button bottom right side of the iTunes window.

I know you can watch movies on the iPod video, but i wasnt sure if i'd be wasting my money on buying a movie from the itunes store and not being able to watch it.

The iPod nano does not support video. The processor is not strong enough, along with other things.
Also, do not try iPod Linux, even though you might hear that its awesome.
1. Even iPod Linux does not support iPod nano downloads.
2. Voids any Warranty you have on yoru iPod.
3. Not unusual for it to leave your iPod as a large domino, and with no warranty, you're out of luck.

You can right click on a toolbar (e.g. empty space on Tab bar) to get a context menu that allow to set which toolbars to display.
If the menu bar is visible then use:
* View > Toolbars
If the menu bar is hidden and you have the orange Firefox button then use:

I just unsuccessfuly tried to play 3 dvds using Airplay via Apple TV. They displayed perfectly and behaved normally using the CD Player on my MacBookPro but would not display when I connected via Airplay to my TV. Why is this? Can I fix it?

This will likely not work due to the DRM locking of the DVD content. The same issue exists with some 3rd party streaming services like Ultraviolet, they will not allow streaming ver AirPlay.

I would suggest looking into a Thunderbolt to HDMI connector. In this case, you may be able to use the TV as an external monitor. For this option, please confirm through additional research. I have not tested it personally.
You can also use an Apple TV, which connects with HDMI. In this case, you can use Airplay Mirroring. Not all Macs support Airplay Mirroring, so you need to check first. I have a Mid-2011 27" iMac, and it supports Airplay Mirroring. I don't use it often because my TV is in another room, but I just tried it and it worked. I work for a University in a department that supports classroom technology and other various A/V type things. We recently set up a "collaborative cluster" computer lab. On each table there is 5 iMac's that can be used to work on project or class assignment independently, but there is also a LCD mounted on the wall at the each table so that at the press of a button that particular iMac's image can be displayed for the group to see. My question is, is there a way to always keep the mini dvi port on, because once you switch to another iMac or the teachers station it doesn't recognize that a second display is there anymore. If there is such a thing, would it also stay there after a restart.

First verify that the problem is in the display's cable, not the computer's Mini DisplayPort. Can you try a different display with your computer, or a different computer with your display? If not, try holding the plug firmly in the computer while wiggling the cable near the plug. If that doesn't cause problems, but moving the plug does, then the problem may be the port on the computer.
If it is the display's cable, it can be replaced, but it does require some work

First, what you said is contradictory. You say "can't get a video signal", then say"the Mac wallpaper is broadcast, the mouse pointer is visible". "No video signal" means an absolutely black,blank screen. It sounds like you have plenty of signal.
I am supposing what you are seeing is actually a blank desktop, which is to be expected if your settings are such that you are extending the desktop, instead of mirroring it.
Within the preference panes is a setting that allows you to change this. Open System Preferences, click Displays, and then click Arrangement. You will see that you are extending the desktop. Change that setting.

I got it working...for anyone who runs it to problems i`ll post what happened..may save you a headache..
What happened is...the movie never was fully downloaded.After checking things over and over. i checked downloads and sure enough there was still 10 mins of downloading.For some reason it didnt download the whole movie in one shot.Not sure if that is common..but now i know to check it.

In a few instances, I've seen reports of people encountering problems when trying to view a rental in absence of an Internet connection, but such glitches seem to be rare.
