Canadian dictionary

The native iphone dictionary uses an american dictionary. I want to have a canadian dictionary instead. How do I install a Canadian dictionary on my iPhone to replace the american one?

Settings>General>International>Language.
Select "British English"... eh?

The Canadian dictionary isn't compatible with Aurora. I was wondering if there could be a localization made for Canadian spelling because we spell with u's such as colour and we get dinged in school and don't look as good in business and such when we use the American spelling of words.

Thanks! I was looking for it somewhere in system stuff.
You can also do it there by putting Canadian English at the top of the list in system prefs/international/languages. Use the Edit button to add it to the list.

  • How do I automate installing/configuring plugins?

Is there a way to automatically install add-ons into Firefox? I'd like to install AdBlockPlus and three subscriptions and a Canadian Dictionary for 50 PCs, and I don't want to to it manually, if I can help it. I don't mind a pop up telling the user that a new add-on has been installed.

Rename the .XPI file to the ID of the extension (GUID or email) and drop the .xpi file in the extensions folder in the Firefox program folder and start Firefox as Administrator to make sure that you have write access to that folder.<br />
You may have to extract the extension to a directory with the same name as the extension's ID or rename the XPI file to the ID name.<br />
That should install the extension and make them available to all users.<br />
If you are not sure then install the extension and copy the extensions folder of that extension from your Firefox profile to the extensions folder in the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).<br />

  • Canadian English Dictionary

Does anyone know the procedure for installing the Canadian English dictionary in FrameMaker 9.0? We were able to install it successfully in 7.2 and 8.0, but the same procedure does not work for 9.0. The procedure we followed for 7.2 & 8.0 is as follows:
    Modify installation
Scroll down to Canadian dictionaries and click the dropdown arrow
Choose the "remove" option (third option indicated with red X)
Then run the installer again, this time choosing the first option under Canadian dictionaries.
Open a new document, type "hoser" or "pogey" (specific Cdn words), and run the spellcheck to make sure that these words don't get picked up.
We were instructed to change the regional and language options settings to Canadian English in the Control Panel. However, the dictionary is still not working properly.

    That is strange.<br />
    I can't reproduce it on a en-US installation.
Which locale do you have installed?
The en-US locale that has its own dictionary or a en-GB locale that doesn't come with a dictionary?
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

  • Why doesn't the dictionary spell colour correctly?

I'm English, I bought my iPhone in England, it's set to English (British) But it STILL tells me there is no U in colour or rumor or honor oar anything else. It tells me I spell everything incorrectly like aluminium just because I put all the letters in the word because I'm NOT american. Is there any way of getting an ACTUAL English dictionary for this thing instead of an American one? People spell badly enough as it is, without phones correcting already perfect spelling and swapping it with incorrect spellings! I'll be honest, as I'm sure you have noticed... I'm absolutely infuriated by this! Please can it be sorted out somehow!?

    oar
Sp...  Sorry couldn't resist, Canadian humour.
I set my iMac to British and it's correcting as it's supposed to, but you're right, when I set the iPhone to British, it's trying to revert to color, etc.

  • StarOffice 8: Danish dictionary (getting additional dictionaries)

    Hi
I just downloaded StarOffice 8 under this license:
    <table border="0" align="center" width="90%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td class="SmallText"><b>Quote:</b></td></tr><tr><td class="quote">

Login into the Sun Software Download Center by using your user name and password. If you do not have a user name or password for the Sun Software Download Center please register.
    </td></tr></table>
However, I cannot find a Danish dictionary! Here:
    http://sunsolve.sun.com/search/document.do?assetkey=1-9-7847 6
    I read this:
    <table border="0" align="center" width="90%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td class="SmallText"><b>Quote:</b></td></tr><tr><td class="quote">
On the StarOffice&#91;TM&#93; installation CD additional dictionaries for other languages are available in the "addon" directory.
    </td></tr></table>
What "addon" directory? In the folder "StarOffice 8 Installation Files" there is no such folder. These files seems to be part of the StarOffice 8 CD, not the single-file download.
Can I download these dictionaries for StarOffice <b>8</b> somewhere? The community developed dictionaries for OpenOffice are not good enough.
    Thanks,
    Kaare

    Hi Graham!
Hi, as a new full Staroffice 8 (purchased CD pack)
user, this thread is very interesting to me. I too
have been trying to get a danish dictionary installed
for this product, and find its omission irritating. While the shift from CorrectSpell to Proximity Franklin has been good for some like me (full Canadian English support), it has been bad for others Danish and Greek being two examples.
I'm unable to find out how to download a danish
proximity dictionary from Adobe's website and,
although my acrobat installation has 3 files :No the files are now included with the Reader 8 download for specific languages. AR7 had a language update, which might still be on the FTP site.
    dan32.clx, dan45.lex and danphon.envThose are the files I have.
placing these in the share\dict path for So8 does not
of itself allow danish to be selected as a dictionary
language in So8. I note that the other files in that
directory have extensions hsp, fca, ths and hyp. Only
the .env extension from the adobe files seems to be
common.Did you shut off the quick starter to reinitialize SO and select the files in the Writing Aids section in Options>Language?
Can anyone please help with either a pointer to where
from Adobe the dictionary can be downloaded, or
alternatively what I have to do with the above (or
other) adobe files to correctly "plug them in" to So8?Your other option is to use the HunSpell Danish dictionary which was created for OpenOffice.

  • How to download Chinese (Traditional) Dictionary in iPad Air

From iPad Air Technical Specification, I found:
Dictionary support (enables predictive text and autocorrect)
English (U.S.), English (Canadian), English (UK), English (Australian), Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), French, French (Canadian), French (Switzerland), German, Italian, Japanese (Romaji, Kana), Korean, Spanish, Arabic, Catalan, Cherokee, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Finnish, Flemish, Greek, Hawaiian, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Malay, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Portuguese (Brazil), Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Swedish, Tamil, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Vietnamese
How can I download the Chinese (Traditional) Dictionary in iPad Air and how can I Define highlighted Chinese (Traditional) characters and phrases and / or Translate them into English?
(What I tried was to open Safari, highlight a few words and select Define, then tap Manage.  But the displayed Dictionaries do not include Chinese (Traditional).)

Simplified Chinese was a rough re-design of Tradtional Chinese about 1954 by the Communist Party of PRC for political reason, while Traditional Chinese has been developed and refined for 1,500 years. Simplified Chinese is simplistic comparing to the rich context of Traditional one.  Simplified Chinese has phrases invented and used specifically by the Communist Party of PRC with words or even meanings twisted while Traditional Chinese embraces a rich knowledge base of wisdom embedded. Thus, when a dictionary of Chinese is to be referred, Tradtional Chinese is my only reliable and trusted source of reputable reference.  Simplified Chinese is something similar to Auusie English, Singlish and Hollywood English - good for communication among peers themselves.

  • Canadian English on iOS?

I've been using the iPhone 4 and iPad, and as the president of an editorial company and a Canadian journalist sworn to CP Style, I have to say the lack of a Canadian English keyboard setting on iOS is driving us insane up here. Sure, we can go with English (UK) and get most of our superfluous 'U's, but no 'Z's in prioritize or apologize. Or we can go with English (US) and quash a couple Britishisms, but still no 'S' in the defense or practising verbs.
There's a perfectly good Canuck English dictionary on OS X. Why has this not been ported over to iOS? Can we (please) expect this to happen with iOS 5? Even if it's something we have to go online and add to our devices manually, the five minutes of hassle up-front would curb a lot of aggression afterwards. Especially with iCloud syncing iWorks documents – will that mean every "Canadian English" Pages document will default to US or UK English as soon as you make a couple edits on your iPad?
Being that I spend the other half of my life in Argentina where they've got a Spanish dialect entirely their own (with its own name and everything: Rioplatanese), I could open up an entirely different can of worms on that, too. But I'll leave it here for now.
    Thanks, eh.
    -R

I agree this is an inexplicable omission. I'm stuck between choosing auto-correct mangling my U's with the US keyboard or mangling my Z's with the UK. Considering there are +20 million English Canadians, and it would likely take one Apple engineer all of an afternoon to fix this considering the dictionary exists in OSX, how has it lingered this long???

  • OSX 10.9.5 Canadian Spelling - Not Correct.

I've set my computer to Canadian English, but the default settings seem to prefer American English for most spelling. This means in most applications spellcheck is marking my text as mis-spelled. Can we look forward to a correction in the Canadian English dictionary with the upcoming OSX update?
    Thanks!

    Hey Bud,
So between the two of us, I think we can get this completely solved.
I did per your note and changed my "Preferred Language" to Canadian English. I also discovered that within the Mail application there is a dictionary that we can change to be marked as "Canadian English."
    In Mail:
Show Spelling and Grammar: Command and :
Then there is a drop down in the bottom of the window that you can choose the appropriate dictionary.
    Solved my problems with Mail.
    Thanks for all your help!!

  • Selecting a spelling dictionary with AppleScript

I would like is to have several buttons on Mail's toolbar and have an Applescript attached to each that sets the spelling dictionary language. Can this be done?
    Daniel

I don't know for the buttons, but here is a script that can set the language used in the spelling dictionary (at least with Mail 3.5 and Mac OS X 10.5.6). The script has been written for the French Canadian keyboard and could need some minor changes when used with other keyboards.
    set L to "Français"
    tell application "Mail"
    activate
    tell application "System Events"
    tell application process "Mail"
set W to windows whose (subrole is "AXFloatingWindow" and (name contains "orthographe" or name contains "spelling"))
    if W is {} then
keystroke ":" using command down -- with the French Canadian keyboard
    set N to 1
click pop up button 1 of window N
click menu item L of menu 1 of pop up button 1 of window N
    delay 1
click button 1 of window N
    else
    set W1 to item 1 of W
click pop up button 1 of W1
click menu item L of menu 1 of pop up button 1 of W1

  • Error while saving date value in Java dictionary

    Hello Everybody,
I got following error while saving date value in one of the fields of the Java table.
Internal error occured in submit request: Error in method updateRequestContact : The object of type java.sql.Date with the value '2005-12-04 08:00:00.0' assigned to host variable 9 is not normalized. It must not contain time components in the time zone running the virtual machine.
I can't find why it is taking time value in the date object.
This value is coming from the RFC as a date value, and I am saving this value in Java dictionary table.
Same code for this was working fine earlier. But, now suddenly it gives error like this.
Even if I provide date on the screen from webdynpro application, this date value can't save in the Java dictionary and gives same error.
What should be the problem behind this?
    Regards,
    Bhavik

    Hi Satyajit,
I am getting date value from the screen of the webdynpro application from date picker control and passing this value in Java dictionary.
    More Information:
I have dat value in the Date object: <b>target_date</b>
But Now I have made new Date object as following:
    Date target_Date1 = new Date(target_date.getYear(),target_date.getMonth(),target_date.getDate());
Then I am passing this object to Java dictionary. Still it gives same error.
Then I have changed code as following:
              int l_year;
              int l_month;
              int l_days;
              l_year = target_Date.getYear();
              l_month = target_Date.getMonth();
              l_days = target_Date.getDate();
         Date target_Date1 = new Date(l_year,l_month,l_days);
    Now it works for me.
But I guess this is not the perment solution. It looks very strange. I have used so many date objects at various palces. So, this solution is not the final for me.
I want to findout the main cause of it.
One more thing: This code was working for a mornth or two. But, now suddenly it is giving this error.
Please help me if anybody knows.
    Regards,
    Bhavik

  • Error while creating the dictionary in netweaver

    Dear sirs,
I am taking part in the process of migrating a J2ee application from JBoss to SAP Server. I have imported the ejb project.
I have an entity bean with 79 CMP fields. i have created the bean and created the table for the same also in the dictionary. But when i tried to build the dictionary, i am getting an error message as given below,
"Dictionary Generation: DB2:checkNumberOfColumns (primary key of table IMP_MANDANT): number of columns (79) greater than allowed maximum (64) IMP_MANDANT.dtdbtable MyAtlasDictionary/src/packages"
Is it mean that we can not create tables with fields more than 64 in the dictionary?
I was able to create the table in the DB directly with more than 79 fields.
So i hope it is because of some settings in the Dictionary.
Do you know whethr any options are avilable in the netweaver developer studio to change the default column limit of the table
    Kindly help,
    Thankyou,
    Sudheesh...

    Hi Sudheesh,

  • ABAP Dictionary structure for use in ABAP Mapping

Hello, I'm creating an ABAP mapping class which requires me to use standard ABAP dictionary (table) structures (ex.MARA, KNA1 etc) for the mapping as the data coming into the mapping is in that format. I'm creating the ABAP class in the PI server and do not have table structures (MARA, KNA1 etc) in the dictionary in the PI server. What is the efficient way to create these structures (as Z elements) in the PI server's dictionary?
I have the XSD of these table structures. Can I import those XSDs into the ABAP dictionary in PI servers? If yes, how can it be done? Please help!

Yes you can import it as an external definition data and create the data type based on this XSD. Go through the link below for more information on the steps to import and how to use it.
