Canadian store connection problem solved

As I said in a previous thread I would like to thank cgygeek and Timmy Y for solving the connection problem to the Canadian Itunes store. For those still trying to get in, you have to completely disable Norton Antivirus 2006 for the duration of time you want to shop in Itunes. (not just the firewall) Apparently the 2007 Norton Antitvirus doesn't create a problem for the store.
  Windows XP

When you installed NIS 2007, did you use Norton's software removal tool to remove NIS 2006? I believe if you don't use this, files from NIS 2006 remain that cause the connection problem. I would suggest you talk to Symantec as they are aware of the iTunes connection problem and will help you more than Apple and you can have a live chat with a support person for free.

  • Yet another Music Store Connection Problem

First time iPod/iTunes user. Just Installed iTunes 5.0.1.4.
I Get The Error Message: iTunes could not connect to the music store. The network connection Timed Out.
I tried many of the suggestions that were posted to no avail.
Whatever iTunes is doing it seems to be pretty anti-social when it comes to network I/O. I noticed that when I operate iTunes, IE couldn't see any web sites. So I stopped iTunes, opened a command window and started the command "ping yahoo.com -t". It responded normally and uneventfully. But once I restarted iTunes, the ping results started timing out. I get the same result when I ping my router instead.
    Any Ideas ???

Well.... This has been a hot topic in these forums for a long time. I had this problem for at least 6 months without a resolution. The answers usually involve turning off a software firewall like the new Windows XP security center or Norton firewall. Believe me when I tell you I tried everything to fix this including turning off all firewalls. I eventually was able to find a copy of Itunes 4.7 and have been using that successfully (being able to connect to the music store).
I solved all my connection problems yesterday. I started up my disabled Zone Alarm Firewall program. I went to the allowed to pass through program list and clicked allow for all the programs that connect. Now every thing works great and I was able to install the latest Itunes for windows & connect to the store. The Zone alarm is running as well as the windows security center firewall. I think the Zone Alarm has opened up communication ports that the window security won't. I know many of you will think that I am an idiot. Maybe I am but I got the darn thing working. My belief is that this is not an Apple malfunction. I take back all my curses at them.

  • ITunes Store Connection Problem and R6025 Error

I have a problem with iTunes (v 7.6.2.9) on my desktop machine that I haven't been able to resolve. The same version works without problem on my laptop, both are fully up-to-date XP SP3 installs with no iTunes add-ons.
iTunes starts correctly, but then does one of three things:
    1) It hangs during connection to the Store, with the bargraph almost at the end of the travel.
    2) It brings up the Store page, but although I can move the cursor around to click the Store links, nothing happens. Eventually the 'Accessing iTunes Store' bargraph may appear but it never connects.
In both of these two instance, no error messages appear, the Store simply locks up. I can still use iTunes perfectly as a player, access my library etc. However, I have to CTRL-ALT-DEL to close the iTunes process from the Task Manager.
    3) As per (2), but about five seconds after the Store appears, an error box pops up:
    Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
    Runtime Error!
    Programe: C:\Programe Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe
    R6025 Pure Virtual Function Call
    Pressing OK closes iTunes.
I've done all the obvious things - removed and reinstalled, cleaned out registry errors using jv16 Powertools 2008, I've even used Process Explorer to examine all the dlls in use with iTunes and compared the version numbers to the correctly working version on the laptop - they're all the same. I've also run a low-level memory error checker, but it passed with flying colours.
So I'm a bit stumped to know how to take this any further. I know other people have had R6025 problems in the past, but they seem to have generally been resolved by installing a later version of the application... which isn't much use to me, as I'm on the latest already. Incidentally, I did try going back one version to 7.6.1, but that behaved in exactly the same way.
If anyone has any ideas about how to troubleshoot this sort of problem, I'd be very interested. I'm assuming that I have another application conflicting with iTunes, but I've no idea how to find it.
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Yay! I've found the culprit...
For historical reasons, I still maintain my old Compuserve 3 account as my public e-mail address. Part of the CS3 installation is a Remote Password Authentication system called Virtual Key. I noticed that these dlls were being invoked during Store connection attempts, which I thought was a little odd.
I deleted the following files from Windows/System32: (annotations courtesy of the Compuserve info text file for Virtual Key)
RPA.DLL - The dynamic link library that implements the RPA protocol for Virtual Key.
RPACFG.DLL - The dynamic link library that implements the Virtual Key accounts wizard API and other configuration APIs.
RPAWINET.DLL - The dynamic link library that is required to enable Virtual Key for Internet Explorer, version 3.0.
RPASSPC.DLL - The dynamic link library that is required to enable Virtual Key for the Internet Mail client and other non-web clients.
RPAEDIT.EXE - An editor application for editing Virtual key Accounts as well as viewing and deleting sites from the Virtual Key Site List that is created by Virtual Key when accessing secure sites.
RPAUI.HLP - Help for Virtual Key features.
VKUNINST.DLL - An uninstaller program for Virtual Key.
    RPAINFO.TXT - This file.
As I only access Compuserve through the proprietary CS3 front end, removing Virtual Key has had no impact on my Compuserve mail system and iTunes is now working perfectly.
I hope this information might be of some use to others in the future!

  • WiFi connection problem solved

My intel iMac and MBA had no problem but iPods 3g and 5g did.  I had an old Netgear router connected and sitting next to my Airport Express.  On a hunch I diconnected the Netgear and created a guest network to replace the one on the Netgear.  PROBLEM SOLVED!
Evidently our iPods and boarder's iPhone had problems sorting out the signals and finding the right addresses.  Moving the AE to a higher and slightly more central position also helped.
    Jim

Same here on a Vodafone PocketWiFi 2.
Tried NetworkManager, wicd, wifi-menu but all have the same issue.
I recently installed Aptosid on another machine and it has the same problem... It also has kernel version 3.9.
All the live CDs I've tried work, even an Arch CD from May works, though a current install does not.
I have no problems connecting to another (wpa2 enterprise) network yet can't on this 3G modem.
I'm hoping this isn't a permanent issue and perhaps an update very soon will fix this.
It seems the only way to fix this for now is to use an old version of Linux. I'm currently running a virtual machine only for the purpose of Internet sharing, very annoying.

  • Can you help with a iTunes Store Connection Problem?

Hi I've tried to fix a problem by following steps as outlined by Apple support but to no avail. I can't access the iTunes Store or App Store from my Mac but can do from our iPhones and iPods using the same log-in.
The message received is: iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. An unknown error occurred (-54).
Any help in simple steps would be appreciated.

Hey Apple surely you can give us a reply!

  • ITMS Connection Problem "Solved"

I've spent much of the weekend trying to troubleshoot the same problem others are having trying to connect to the iTunes Music Store. After eliminating every possible cause suggested by Apple I became pretty confident it was my ISP, Verizon DSL, that was somehow causing the trouble. To test, I set up a proxy server in my Internet Options. (Control Panel/Internet Options/Connections/LAN Settings) You can find a list of free proxy servers to use here: http://www.proxy.sc/ FWIW, I used http://201.6.116.127 on port 3128. Sure enough, I was now able to connect to the iTMS and podcast directory. I will have to contact Verizon and find out what's going on. I'm sure Apple would be interested in this info, also. Please test this out and report back!

Update: I ran a traceroute to phobos.apple.com, one of the domains Apple refers to in this document: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93434 The packet made it to its destination but Apple's router did not respond. So, perhaps the problem is on Apple's end and not with Verizon. But it has to be one or the other. I think.

  • IPhone WiFi Connection problem solved (ios v 6.1.2)

I recently spent time going through a verry irritating problem with my iphone...  I installed a new router at home and initially all was well... my LAN connection worked... my wireless connection was strong and it took no time to get my AppleTV, iPad and my sons iPad running on the wireless network.... Then I tried to get my iPhone (4) to log on to the network.... it appeared to find the network... accepted the password.... and nothing.... I tried:
Turning Wi-Fi off then on again
    Restarted the router
Reset network settings on the iphone
Forgetting the network & inputting the password again
Turned off the iphone and restarted it
    Restored the iPhone
    restarted the router, again...
Eventually I decided to look at how the router was setup... so, in a browser I entered the router address: eg. 192.168.#.###. Then I went and did a reset on the router... and Voila ! the iPhone as well as all of the other devices now find and work with the Wi-Fi network...
Hope this helps a few people and saves some time...
    Regards
    Mike

  • AirPort Extreme conection cuts out! Wireless Connection problems, Solved!?

If you are having the same problem I was with not being able to stay connected wireless to internet using OS X 10.5.6 and Airport....
    Try this......
Fingers Crossed its working! For now 3 days and still going.
    Open Airport Utility
when your base station shows up ( good luck it kept vanishing when I did this )
    in Manual Setup / Summary
Wireless mode > access > MAC Address Access Control Local
(set up every devise you want to connect to - Wireless clients gives you the codes)
Wireless options > (tick) Create a closed network and Use interference robustness
Hope this works for you all too and keeps Working!

FYI we aren't the only ones with this issue. Check out this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8577849&#8577849
I have the EXACT same problem, intermittent bars, click on the network name and you get brief connectivity, and - perhaps most importantly -- this only really started in the last 4 - 6 weeks or so. There must have been some weird update back in November/December.
Unfortunately Apple is doing it's usual thing: No response.

  • Wireless connection problems (SOLVED)

Seems to randomly work now, thanks
Yesterday I was doing normal things on the web and suddenly the airport logo went blank, connection is gone.  Strange, so I try a few things:
    - messing with Network Preferences, which after manually trying to connect to my router (it won't do it automatically) I can get 5 bars, but still no connection
(there is a 4-5 step process, and at the end when it asks if there's a router or firewall between my connection and to restart my router, it never gets past that part)
    - restarting router multiple times, restoring factory settings.  Neither works, and all other devices in the house can still connect to router.  Also tried to update firmware.  It's a Belkin router.
    - my wireless can detect routers, it picked up my neighbor's, it just can't connect.
    - did a virus scan with Norton, nothing detected
    - I restart on Bootcamp with Win XP and I can connect right away to the router!!
[steps I might try next:  hauling my Mac Pro to my friend's house and see if it can connect wirelessly, or trying to connect via ethernet and update Mac OS (I have the latest version but missed one update)]
So I'm dumbfounded, is it a software or Mac OS problem?
    Thank you

  • Apps Store connection problem!

Every 3/4 apps purchase made always have a loading problem! How can i fix this? I've tried reboot, reset or any thing else but the problem persist. Man! I dont know what to do next. Been trying every recommended step by everyone, but it seems the problem still bugging me! Please anyone, any more good suggestions?

Well i think the only last solution is:
    1. Connect your ipad to a pc/mac and Restore your ipad. Before that, go to settings in your ipad and reset ipad to factory settings.
    2. If you are using a sim card/3G connection, try connect using wifi or another simcard 3G and try to Download again.
This is to diagnose if your simcard is the culprit/problematic.
    3. If the problem persist after this, send it back to your mac dealership for service, maybe they can diagnose whats wrong!
    Good Luck!

  • Windows 2000 connection problems (solved)

I have a Windows 2000 box that was working fine with DSL and cable but when we moved and got FiOS, it didn't work.  It has a RealTek RTL 8139(a) PCI fast controller built in to the motherboard that is connected to the port of the back of the Westell 9100em router.  The symptoms were very strange: I could ping the router and load the router web page.  However, I could not load any webpages outside of the router.  DNS was working (lookups were fine and fast) but it seemed like no packets ever came back to me - it was like the TTL was set too small or something - they just died in the ether.  Traceroutes would get about a dozen hops out and then time-out.  I figured there was a problem with the ethernet controller, so I switched to a 10/100 Hawking USB-to-ethernet adapter.  However, this showed the same problem.  Then, I switched to a USB wireless adapter.  Again, same problem.  At this point, it was a total mystery.  There didn't seem to be a problem with a particular adapter and I knew it wasn't a problem with FiOS since I had multiple wired and wireless machines (XP,Mac,Linux) in the house with no problems whatsoever.
I had read on these forums some problems people were having with RealTek 8139 adapters: http://forums.verizon.com/t5/FiOS-Internet/Problems-with-the-Fios-20-5-connection-speed-in-my-area-d... so I did a google search on "windows 2000 realtek fios" and found this:  http://www.testmy.net/t-19923  This was exactly the same problem I was having, so I did what was suggested: Uninstall TCP/IP and the Microsoft services/clients from the ethernet adapter, reboot, then reinstall the protocols and services...  And it worked!  I can now load up web pages with no problems.
Even though I was a 25/15 customer, I was pretty happy to get a 7/7 service (according to Verizon's speed tests) after not being able to get any http connection at all previously.  For the heck of it, I tried the speed optimizer tool: http://www2.verizon.net/help/fios_settings/optimizer/  After rebooting the machine, I am now getting 25 down and 23 up on Verizon's test and 26 down and 13 up according to the speakeasy test.
I guess the lesson for me is that FiOS is unlike DSL or cable - you might not be able to just plug your computer in and have it work optimally or work at all.  But if you tweak it just right, it works pretty well

crichter, Welcome to the discussion area!
Sorry, I don't know what type of encryption (if any) is supported by Windows 2000.

  • Persistent connection problem [solved]

I updated my system this morning, and now my owl intranet database cannot connect.  OWL connects over http and uses mysql and php; it was working fine before this morning's system update.
    Now I'm getting an error:
Fatal error:  Call to undefined function mysql_pconnect in [PATH]/db_mysql.inc on line 74
    php.ini has persistent connections on
    the mysql.so extension is uncommented
Any idea what is causing this?

I can confirm this, it started when I ran pacman -Syu this afternoon though I cannot fix it the same way that you did. I had to revert back to php-5.1.6-4 to get it to work with my database, otherwise I would get the mysql_connect() is an undefined function error (tried reinstalling the lib like you said, didnt work). I would like to have this fixed cause I've heard that php-5.1.6-4 has a security problem. If you need any more information please say so.
