Mistakenly moved to iCloud running OSX 10.6. Now Mail doesn't work. Is it possible to cancel ICloud?

How? You cannot migrate to iCloud using 10.6 - did you do it on another machine with Lion?
If you have actually migrated to iCloud you can access your email, though not the other facilities, on 10.6 by entering the server settings manually: please see this page -

The only way to cancel the iCloud account is to sign out of the account, and then stop using it.

Is the 3GB used a part of the 5BG you get for free? If so, you can delete the 3GB if you want to by going to:
Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage> Under backups, click on the name of your iPhone then delete backup. Do the same thing on anything else that is showing as stored.
Once you've done all of that you can delete the account if you want or you can skip all those steps and just delete the account.
Settings>iCloud>Delete Account

Why is it so "easy" to cancel a service with APPLE? I have signed up for a iCloud plan two years ago and now have decided to cancel it simply because I don't want to use it anymore. I went on Apple.com to read the whole support area with so many subjects while none of them would give me a clue on how to cancel the service. Then I tried to find the phone number to call, then the website gave me two options - either leave a phone number so someone can call me back, or call them LATER, WHY? I chose to leave a phone number but the site gave me some time slots that are all super early in the morning like 5 or 6 or 7 in the morning which is totally not convenient for me, as a single mom I am extremely busy in the morning. Then finally I found a general service phone number to call. First, I had been put on hold for 5 minutes until someone answered my phone, then she put me on hold again for another 10 minutes just to connect to another department or so. Then finally I got to talk to the right person, she asked me a bunch of security questions that makes me feel like I might not be able to cancel the service if I ever failed to answer those questions. Thanks god, I passed the test! Then she put me on hold again for another 5 to 7 minutes, and the other side of the phone started playing very annoying heavy rock and roll music that almost made me hang up! Normally I don't write reviews or give comments on services but this time APPLE really ****** me off by playing such an old fashioned bad trick to keep a customer which is polar opposite from their products and other services.

Okay, I THINK I managed to keep my plan as is for next year - but PLEASE tell me if I don't have it, because the steps needed too keep my current plan as is wasn't immediately apparent.
I have the 20GB $40/year plan.
In the Downgrade Options window, once you get there via iCloud Storage on your iPhone or iPad, you'll see your Current plan with two Downgrade options below.
Apple has "helpfully" checked "5GB Free" which would of course wipe out much of my stored data.
Click your CURRENT PLAN at the top - the checkmark will move. I THINK (I hope) that took care of it, because neither downgrade option is checked anymore.
Does anyone know for certain? It would be nice if Apple sent a helpful confirmation email after this procedure is done, but noooo.

Cancel iCloud not working

I want to cancel iCloud. When I go to "manage" and "downgrade" and input my correct password, it takes me to a blank box and won't let me cancel. How can I fix this? I want out! iCloud is a pain in the butt, and my computer runs super slow now because of it. Help! And I can seem to find a 24 hour ichat apple support service. What's up with this dang ICloud! 'Downgrade' applies to additional storage above the free 5GB/ If you've never bought additional storage then there is nothing to downgrade.
To stop using iCloud go to System Preferences>iCloud and click 'Sign out'. Obviously all your synced data will disappear from your Mac (as it's stored on the iCloud server) so you will need to manually transfer any such data back to your Mac before signing out. Once you've signed out on all your devices simply ignore the account - you can't actually delete it from the server.

Yes, I'm familiar with the old RTFM rule, but I tried four different times to retrieve that manual form the Apple site. Each time got an error message that something was wrong, that they were working on it, and to please come back later. On the fifth try last night, I got through and successfully downloaded the user guide. Woo hoo!

How to cancel Icloud Drive upgrading

Hi all,
Upgraded to IOS8 this morning but selected the upgrade to ICloud Drive before reading the posts advising otherwise. Is there any way of cancelling this once selected as its draining my battery rapidly constantly trying to upgrade?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Please explain a little more, iCloud isn't an app, it can't be installed or uninstalled. You can stop using it by going to settings > iCloud > delete account.

On my receipt it says I may contact Apple to cancel my extra storage on icloud with 15 days but, there is no contact phone, e-mail, etc. Anyone know how to do this?

I want my money back for the extra storage for Icloud! How do I cancel?
I bought the storage and everytime I try to back up it says incomplete and still deducts the storage, it doesn't work , it doest back up anything!

Thank you however everytime I try to find a support number they require a serial number and icloud doesn't have a serial number nor did they put anything on the reciept they sent me for the extra storage as to how to cancel, they just said you can cancel within 15 days. Very frustrating , thier happy to take my money but sure don't make it easy to get help. I went through all the info they list online under icloud and it doesn't help either. I got an iCloud storage upgrade yesterday and would like to cancel it. I do not wish to pay every month for something I dont need. How do I cancel it over email if possible? I have an IOS 8.2. I want to downgrade to the 5 free GB. I purchased the 20 a month. I have only used 4 GB so I should be able to downgrade.

Never mind I found a page that showed me how to do it.
