I shoot tethered using a LR "watched folder" for auto import. Why would I do that when LR5 supports tethering with all my Canon DSLR cameras?
I use the free Canon EOS Utility, which supports live view mode and ability to change camera and flash settings on my system monitor. Lightroom currently only provides a remote shutter release and visual indication of the camera settings........and nothing else!

Why is there not any heat vents on the iMac?

It would seem like there may some issues posted by other people about heat build-up on the iMac but I haven't found any openings to vent the hot air out. Any comments? Should I take the back off and drill some holes?

Hi Mike,
The fan should be continuously cooling your iMac, this is why you won't 'feel' alot of heat.
The 'fresh air' intake is along the bottm of your Mac (you should be able to feel a little draw if you run your hand under the machine) and it 'exhausts' in the slot near the top on the back, as mentioned earlier. Try not to block up the intake area and keep it a dust free as possible.
Alot of the heat is produced by the screen and CPU. Whenever I have 4 or 5 Apps running and I am doing Image Editing, I can tell the Mac gets a bit louder because the fan works a little harder to push the hot air out. My fans have never gone into full blown speed, nor are they loud.
The back top left portion of you iMac will be the 'warmest', if you put your palm in that area, it is noticeable, the warm air is being moved up and out, which is good.
If you're worried, just download some kind of temperature monitor (you can download the istat nano, it's a widget and free) and keep an eye on temps. The most important thing to look for is not so much 'normal' temp but any large spikes in temp when you're working on the Mac...

! I have received 3 consecutive emails from the same domain although I marked the first one to arrive as SPAM. Truth be told none of them should get through. Why is there not an Allow list in iCloud?!

They say it can take up to 15 minutes for the SPAM filters to start working after you mark them as SPAM but I was receiving these at a greater than 15 minute interval.
Don't they do an MX record check on these emails to check if they are SPAM?
My guess is Apple has hired a 3rd party business to do SPAM scanning before the SPAM ever gets to Apple. They need to get on them.

Create a new ID by following the steps in this article exactly as written: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2534. Pay attention to step 3; you must first download and install any free app then create the ID.

Go to supportprofile.apple.com and remove your device. Alternatively you can call in to apple and have Apple look up your phone number. They may be able to remove it from their end.
If it does not show up in either of these places, have the people whe own the other iPhone send you a message> this message will be blue for an iMessage> have them push an hold on that message and select the option "send as text"> this should send the message as green> do this two - four time till it starts sending as green on its own.> this should fix it.

CallerID options are not in Settings> Messages. and that has nothing to do with how your messages are sent.
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive at and tick your phone number.
If you cannot see Send & Receive at, then you do not have iMessage set to On and you will only send/receive at your phone number.

Why does cellular not support phone features?

iPad Mini with Retina display has a celluar capability. Why does it not support full phones features, doubling as an iPad and phone like the iPhone 5S does?

And I don't mean to seem rude. I have worked in product development many years with a very large company. I have also challenged engineers and developers to look beyond the basics to deliver something that sets the trend adn differentiates itself from the pack.
Apple as that trend-setter created awesome products in the form of the iPad Air and the iPad Mini w/ RD. It is extraordinary in the leading technologies they incuded in the package. It would have been BRILLIANT though, to have converged both as an IPad and a phone. It would have propelled the iPad light years ahead of the competition.

Why does my iMessage use my email and not my phone number?

I upgraded to IOS 5 recently and my friend wondered why he had to use my email to message me and not my iPhone's number. My carrier is Verizon and I bought my iPhone 4 in January. Does anyone know how to fix this? I already have done a system restore and that did not work.

Go to Settings>Messages>Receive At>Caller ID and select your phone number instead of your email address. If you don't see your phone number and/of you don't see the Caller ID setting, your phone number is not yet activated with the iMessage server (and you will notice that is says "waiting for activation" under iMessage).

You are speculating about Apple policies which is prohibited by the Terms of Use of these forums. I can "fathom" several other reasons.

Verizon has failed to stop many call violations of the Do Not Call laws, particularly allowing callers to fake their ANI identification. Except for legitimate reasons, such as law enforcement, domestic violence, or other exceptions, no call should be completed that does not match the actual origin. That aside, we who continue to be awakened from sleep, dinners interrupted, and run to the phone only to find the call is another pan handler violating the law, we have to take action into our own hands. Why is it then, that Verizon has a limit of only 10 numbers that can be blocked? And why can we not block entire area codes and exchanges so a boiler room cannot keep changing numbers with the same area code?
Please, Verizon, give us more options to manage our own calls until the day you have the smart technology in place to limit illegal calls.

Seconding what TimeVoyager states here. I have signed up for the Do Not Call Registry (for whatever good that has done) and still get at least 3-4 telemarketer calls per day. If Verizon allows us to block 10 numbers, how difficult could it be to bump that limit up to 50 or more, or better yet, provide some flexibility in blocking entire NPA/NXX combinations as the telemarketers typically have number ranges and/or frequently change their numbers to dodge the simple blocking schemes. Perfect solution for me would be a system that allows for users to manage a single list that contains white listed numbers that pass through, black-listed numbers that get blocked, ordered in priority of execution (very similar to how email SPAM blockers work). An updated interface would be a boost too (as the current one is a little clunky) so that users could very quickly add/edit/delete numbers from the tool itself and even an option to white/black list numbers directly from your call log. The current 10 number limit is not enough. I am at the point where I am questioning the value of my land line as the inconvenience of the unwanted calls far outweighs the convenience of having the line for the few times I use it for legit calls each week. Strongly considering dumping my voice plan when my bundle is up for renewal if this is not somehow addressed as again, how hard could it be for Verizon to simply increase the limit from 10 to a much large number?
