Cancelled a SO tied to a Production Ord and Prod Ord still open?

Is it standard functionality that when a Sales Order that is tied to a Production Order is CANCELLED, the Production Order remains OPEN? If so, is there any way to have SAP delete the production order when the SO tied to it is cancelled??

I will react once again, cause my reaction of yesterday was a bit short.
I guess it won't be easy and maybe even impossible to create this functionality.
There are a lot of issues if you want to do this:
1. As far as I know there is no direct link from sales order to production order (this is handled by MRP)
2. I thought of a making a macro with B1UP (I don't know if you are formiliar with this add-on) but that will be pretty difficult, cause you might have more then one line in a sales order and this will result in multiple production orders. Besides it is very difficult to know if you are selecting the right production order then.
So I guess the best way remains closing the production orders manually.

Check the category group assignment for Dependent Demand keyfigure in your SNP Planning Area.
The Dependent Demand keyfigure 9ADMDSE for 9AMALO aggregate will have Category Group assignment DS1 as standard. DS1 has AU, AV, AY and EL Categories details of which are below

Just installed CS5 Production premium and Encore fails when opened

When opening Encore and starting any new project I receive a popup that counts seconds and then pops up access denied. When I open a project I created I get the popup Adobe Encore has stopped working and it shuts down. Running windows 7 64 bit pro. Any ideas?

Consumption acct of materia which issue to maint. ord. and production order

Hi all,
I have one problem with the cost report for maintenance orders.
I have one material code, such as we call A.
Mat. A is issued to production order and also maintenance order.
For production order, consumption account is 123
For maintenance order, consumption account is 456
I have defined new movement type for issuing to Maintenance order is ZB1
in OBYC:
      GBB - VRB --> 123
      ZB1 --> 456
So for accounting purpose, I can slit these consumption accounts
However, when I go to maintenance order cost reports, systems slit these cost into 2 line
Material A        Acct. Cons 123        Plan cost 100        Actual cost 0
Material   A        Acct. Cons 456       Plan cost 0            Actual cost 120
How can I group into 1 line ?

Hi Emily
In OBYC you can configure GL accounts per valuation class.
You cannot configure Movement type wise. Each General modifier is linked with movement types.
We cannot give two consumption accounts for one valuation class in VBR.
Run your plan cost again.

How to attempt production orders and get feedback by using IDocs

Hi,
I'm new new to SAP and R3 respectively mySAP. I need to know how to use IDocs (over file system) to attempt production orders to an extern application and how to get the feedback of the whole orders and single operations.
I found the IDoc-base-type "PPCC2RECORDER01" to send production orders. Is that the right base type for production orders?
(In consideration of compatibility and support me was recommend to avoid the old types OPERA2 and CONF21.)
What IDoc-types do I need to get feedback about a production order and its operations?
I hope someone is understanding my questions is able to help me. Please apologize my broken English.

I have an understanding that you are in need of the tables for mat.no,prod.ord.and sales order to make a report to make them all appear in the report...
If that is so,there is no need for tables..YOu can get that in standard SAP..
Go to COOIS..enter the plant and execute.. In the resulting screen, go to chane layout. There u can add the sales order in the layout...material and production order will be there by default...
Thus you can have the material,production order and the corresponding sales order in a single transaction...

Product Costing and Production Planning

Hi,
Is Product Costing absolutely required before implementing Production Planning, specifically PP orders? My client does not want to plan costs or need any cost estimates. They want to use a PP order to check availability for a BOM, and then issue it out to an external vendor for services. After this material is processed by the external vendor, he would ship it back and we would be doing a goods receipt at the parent level of the BOM. The whole purpose of this is to get the accurate price of the BOM parent which would include all service costs. This parent would finally be sold via the regular SD sales order process. Our Logisitics consultant suggested that the only way this could be accomplished is a PP order. All this looks okay, but he also mentioned that a PP order cannot work without Product Costing and the process cant be accomplished CO-PC. I am unable to grasp why SAP would force us to have costing when the client doesnt need any cost estimates, planning etc. Could any one please tell me if we need CO-PC for this scenario?

Technically, to run PP without using product cost planning would cause a lot of problems during business process of production order. Because, once a production order is created then the data structured is freezed in the PO and if there is any missing data it will cause errors. Any errors in production order would stop the following transactions. We never know what would be the error level of the production order. The worst case, the production or should be cancel and start it all over again.
But by using product costing or product cost planning, this is a preliminary step to prevent and eliminate any error of the products tobe produced.
So, ideally, there is one person in charge to ensure that the products which be produced in the production orders are free of error.
So, the product costing is an integrated module that take data from variouse module such as PP, MM, CO, HR.
The product costing use the Logistic master data such as folllowing;
1. Bill of material
2. Routing
3. Work center
4. Material master
How you can say, that running PP without PC will run, while the to run the smooth production order, you need to mandatory parameter in Material Master that belong to Costing area.
Without having product costing, I can assure that your client will trap in a lot of troubles with their business process.

Capacity Evaluation: CM01 does not consider partially confirmed Prod Ord

Dear Gurus,
I was doing a test for CM01 and I found out that the Production Order with partial confirmation/delivery is still being considered as a full quantity in CM01 pegged requirements. For example is below:
Prod Ord Qty is: 1500
Partial Confirmation made: 500
Now in CM01 it still shows 1500, I thought it should only be 1000. Reason is this order is backlog from last week thus I only want the system to consider the 1000 open quantity and not the whole 1500. Is it achievable in CM01?

Hi,
but this Production Order is still open with 1000 PC. I will still need to process the 1000 remaining quantity out of 1500 and in CM01 I would like it to show on 1000 PC instead of 1500 PC.
Another thing is for example, Im on the middle of the week, my available capacity is reduced and I also have already partially confirmed the production order. Then when I execute CM01, it will show capacity overload eventhough the open quantity is also decreased.
So my concern is instead of Production Order Base Quantity, can the system check the production Order Open Quantity?

Sales Ord assignment on Prod Ord component

Experts,
I have a situation, where in a previously created MTO Sales Order had its receipts deleted & now I want to create a manual production order with the Sales Order assignment (CO08). When I add a component & try to make it Sales Ord assigned, it works fine as long as the component's material master carries a 1 or a blank indicator on the MRP 4 Ind/Coll field. If its collective, system does not accept the SO entry on the Prodn Ord.
However, when I try to create a Prod Ord (CO01), no matter what, the system does not allow me to enter a Sales Order on any component. Is it possible to influence this behavior some way?

?? What behavior do you seek?
CO01 creates a production order without reference to a sales order. It would make no sense to assign components to a sales order, and this is not supported.This behavior cannot be altered in standard SAP. Sales orders are irrelevant.
CO08 creates a production order with reference to a sales order. Components' assignment is dependent on the settings in the Material Master of the component. This behavior cannot be altered in standard.SAP.
What behavior do your seek?

Running change on prod ord. numbers

Hi Experts,
Could any of you pls help me to set substitutionals for production orders?
I need to change number range on a prod order type, but as a running change: existing orders could not be closed u2013 long standing orders, duration more than 6 month, but newly created orders got the new numbers. The goal is to have better reporting in CO/FI u2013 as prod. order is the primary cost collecting object u2013 and through ord. number the prod. areas / field could easily be selected in CO / FI reports.
So, we are about to create a new order for the existing ones (number 1), with using new number range (number 2) and settle the new orders 2* to the old ones 1* one-by-one. But I want to make sure, that no further confirmation / material movements on the old orders 1will be done. In the system, I have already changed TECO-status (for different purpose), and cnf, GI, GR etc. is forbidden to this status, but CO-month end closing / variance calc, settlement etc are allowed. Thought I could not use TECO here, bec. of the WIP u2013 calculation u2013 the amount related to WIP could be seen for the old orders 1, and acc to standard setting the WIP is settled if status is TECO.
New user status u2013which will forbid the business statuses u2013 is not a help, bec. the orders1* have already created, released and so, therefore, the status profile could not be changed.
Could anyone support me with a useful solution / best practice to handle this situation?

Use BADI:
WORKORDER_GOODSMVT to prevent any goods movement posting (take a look at MB_DOCUMENT_BADI as well if it helps) and
WORKORDER_CONFIRM to prevent any confirmations.
Select the relevant method in the above BADI's to prevent any postings to your 1 series order as per your logic. This should give you control on the cost postings.
