Cancelling a line or Porting Out Question

Im not sure where this would go but ill put it here, move it if you need. I have a secondary line on my account and she is getting her own account due to personal reasons. Long story can't get into it. But since she is the secondary and the WHOLE account is under my name. Can she port her number out without my permission? Because i was gonna change the phone number and someone else told me i can change it and she can still port it out and just tell the new provider that she wants to take over the previous phone number she once had before. Can she do this?

Hi Punisherbv,
Thank you for your inquiry. In review of the matter, it is understood that the account is in your name only being the Account Owner. However, did you add her as an Account Manager? If she is on the account as an Account Manger, this grants the authorization to port the number out as well doing other things on your account. Account Managers always need to verify the correct billing account password for account access. She would need to be removed off your account as an Account Manger prior to starting the port out process. Simply remove her off your account if you do not wish the number to be ported out if it has not yet been started. Also, change your billing account password to something only you know to prevent unauthorized access to your account.
This remove an Account Manager:
1. Sign into My Verizon Account
2. Select Authorized or Remove Account Manger under Account Actions Actions on the My Verizon Home Page.
3. Select the Remove check box next to the Account Manager's name to be removed.
4. Click Continue.

  • Swap number by porting out and then back to Verizon

I currently have 4 lines with Verizon on a Family Shared Plan. Line A has a basic phone and is my primary number where I got all the calls, line B and C belong to my family members, and line D is a new line I took over recently under assumption of liability because it has unlimited data feature.
Now, what I really want is to swap my primary number from Line A to Lind D, so that I can use my primary number with the line that has unlimited data. I don’t care if I lose the current number on Line D. However, according to multiple verizon reps, you can not swap phone numbers freely.
It seems that the only way to accomplish this is to first set up Line D as the primary line, then port out Line A to another carriier (for example Page Plus), then port it back in to overwrite the number on Line D. Can someone from Verizon confirm if this is the only way to get my primary number on Line D with the unlimited data? Does it even work? Any restrictions for porting back a number that used to be with Verizon?
By the way Line A is month to month now so I am not worried about ETF.
    Any help will be appreciated.

Dion, that doesn't solve his problem. He wants to keep the number that is currently on line A and move THAT number to his smartphone with unlimited data. That's the same situation I am in. I think the only way to do it is wait until the contract expires and then move the number to the desired phone. That's what I am going to do in January.
I appreciate Dion to take time and reply my post, but unfortunately he provided incorrect information. I have just done it and got what I wanted. Obviously, you CAN port your line to another company (say Pageplus) for free, thus canceling the line with Verizon. Then wait until the next billing cycle, and port that number back in to replace existing Verizon number, all for free. No change is made to the account calling plans, features, contract, etc, since it's a simple phone number change.
It took me 10 mins on the phone with Pageplus CS to port the number from Verizon to Pageplus, 3 days before the end of my billing cycle. Then I waited for 5 days, just to be sure that Verizon had release the number, and called Verizon to request the port in. The porting request was done in 5 mins with automated system, and the port went thru almost instantly. I reprogrammed the phone by dialing *228 and everything works fine. I logged on my Verizon immediately and my number has already been updated. Now I finally have my main number on the line with unlimited data.
The only thing to note is that when you change your phone number, your bill/usage will be prorated if it's your primary line.

  • One line out of contract, can I cancel another line under contract without ETF?

I've seen many people asking this question, but the answer was different from what I heard from the chat with CSR.
    So, does this idea work?
I have three lines on my account.
A - Upgrade available in 10/2012 (contract ends on similar date)
B - Upgrade available in 10/2013 (contract ends on similar date)
C - Upgrade available as of now (contract ended)
Basically, I have one line that's out of contract.
Since I have one line that's done with the contract, can I cancel one line even though it's still under contract from my account?
I thought this wasn't allowed, but in my recent chat with CSR named Cassey(she said she left notation about our conversation), she said it is possible and was so sure about that.
I was in the exact same situation back in March when I cancelled 4th line I used to have in my account.
I was told it couldn't be done that way and had to wait for a couple month with the charges.
Please clear this up so that I could take an appropriate action.

    So, is the answer "no"?
I can't cancel a line as long as it's under contract even though I have another line that's out of contract? Correct - the contract, or agreement is to keep a line of service active for 24 months after the upgrade (or purchase of a subsidized/discounted phone).  If the 24 months is not up, and you cancel that line, there will be an ETF based on the # of months out of the 24 that were fulfilled.
Then, I really wish there is a way I can talk to the rep I chatted.
I triple checked with her, she said I could do that, and she was so sure about it. Maybe she misunderstood the question??  Though it seems pretty clear to me what you are asking, and it's just as clear it's not the way it works!  The contract is on the line of service, and tied to that phone number.

  • Line-in Port Question

Okay, I understand now that the port I thought was a mic port on my 2008 Macbook Pro is a line-in port. What I don't understand though is why my headset worked fine with it up until last week. Can anyone help me understand why this would be?

I have an idea of what you may be experiencing, correct me if I am wrong. I bet when you unplug the headset you may see a red line inside of it. Try this:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964 -Reset SMC
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379 - Reset Pram
Next go and open your finder window and delete these files:
    /library/preferences/audio/com.apple.audio.DeviceSettings.plist
    /library/preferences/audio/com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist
    /library/preferences/com.apple.soundpref.plist
    ~/library/preferences/com.apple.soundpref.plist
Put those in trash then erase the trash.
Then shut down the computer and do a PRAM reset. If this does not resolved the issue empty:
    /syste/library/caches folder
Worst case scenario do an archive install.
If all else fails your microswitches in the audio jacks have failed. Make an appointment at an ARS or AASP.

  • Challenging Line In Port Question

    Hi -
I'm working with some software that was built primarily for PC's but it will run on Mac OS fine. I'm putting a powered signal into the "Line In" port in the back of my PowerBook G4.  Within the software, I need to associate the Line In port to the proper "device" in the old PC-speak - e.g. /dev/tty01, /dev/tty02, etc.
Does anyone know what the Line In port on a G4 translates to in the PC-speak device vernacular? Is it /dev/tty00? Some other ttyXY?   Thanks in advance!
    Chris

  • Three line family plan. How do I cancel the line that's about to complete its two-year contract?

My phone is the primary line for a three-line family plan I share with my wife and brother. My two years is up this month, my wife's two years is up next month, and my brother's is up the month after that. As each contract expires, we want to cancel the family plan and switch over to month-to-month plans. One caveat: I'm abroad right now, so I simply want my service to lapse completely until I return in six months, and I'll worry about my phone then. How do I cancel my line when my contract expires this month? How do I switch my wife and brother's accounts over to month-to-month as their contracts expire?

Hi,  I was just looking into similar circumstances but I want to keep my daughter's line and only suspend mine.  My question is that if I suspend my phone can I still upgrade my daughter's line?  I was laid off and if I don't find another job then I want to cancel my phone but keep her phone active.  Her last phone the screen shattered so I want to renew her contract to get a new phone.  I am thinking of going thru the edge plan since it seems the price with the discount works out to be the same if I go that way instead of paying the full discounted price outright.  Can I upgrade her phone without renewing the contract on my phone?
    Thank you so much!!

  • Porting Out

I am a little disappointed today, because I have to leave Verizon. I have a line that has been out of a contract for a year, I just cancelled one line and have 2 remaining. The line that is eligible for an upgrade is ready for it's first smartphone and I feel that the prices are just too high for 2 lines with smartphones. I talked to 3 people today, 1 in chat, one in customer service and one in loyalty. I just wanted to give Verizon a chance to keep my service because I have been with them since 2006. The best they could do as far as a plan goes would  save me 6.00 per month. I would have almost accepted the offer if they would have waived my activation fee to renew or discounted the phone a bit. However all three reps said they could not. If not even customer loyalty can waive an activation fee to keep a customer, then what is the purpose of that department? The person in chat could only give me repeated copy and paste comments about how reliable the service is. Unfortunately I had to give her a zero on the survey. I guess I am mostly just disappointed that none of them really cared that I am porting out. I just needed to vent a bit. My new carrier awaits with open arms, free activation, and a plan that is a bit less per month.

Before you jump up and down, many people that post here have stated the verizon reps have told them one thing and when they received their bill they found out it was nothing but a lie. You see its easy to tell you one thing to appease you. By the time you receive your bill its past the 14 days guarantee. I hope it works out for you.
    Good Luck

  • No prorating on a port out. ATT charging me for 28 days of service I don't have, can't use.

I am a wireless customer for over a year. I ported out my lines on the second day of the billing cycle. I was expecting my last bill to be prorated just like has happened with every other utility and service I have canceled or ported away from in the past, including Verizon, T-mobile, home internet, phone, electric, gas.  Every other service and company prorates the last bill.  ATT is telling me they do not though.  I ported out on day two of the billing cycle and they are insisting they will charge me for a full 30 days of service, including the 28 days I am holding four deactivated, non-usable SIM cards.  This business practice is wrong and in these times of no-contract service, would definitely prevent me from going back to ATT if they won't work to make this right.  Please escalate this to someone who can help me.  I can't afford to pay for a whole month of service I can't even use....  [email protected]

It is listed in the terms of service, (that you agreed to when you got your service) that AT&T does not prorate final month's billing. Most of the other providers have the same terms.
Including Verizon. OP's memory of Verizon pro-rating is either faulty or they changed their policy since then. This comes from Verizon's service agreement in the paragraph on canceling service: "Cancellations will become effective on the last day of that month's billing cycle, and you are responsible for all charges incurred until then."
It is possible that the OP could have left those other companies when they still adjusted the last month's bill on a pro rata basis.  Even on AT&T, the "blue" customers still receive adjustments on the last bill.  My understanding is that there are very few of us "blue" customers left at this point.

  • Document Cancellation can not be carried Out

    Dear SAP experts,..
I met a problem when carry a document cancellation..
We had a material which incidentally exist without batch management and so, the material don't have batch number and so its Shelf Life Expiration Date.
The material was used as usual. (Used for production process by Goods Issue for Production Order)..
The condition keep going for about 3 weeks until the end user had a mistake with her data entry and so the document must be cancelled.
The cancellation can't be carried out, and the message shows "Enter Shelf Life Expiration Date".
    My Question :
    - Why was Goods Issue transaction could be carried out without SLED and the cancellation must be carried out with SLED ..??
    - What is the best action to solve this problem...
    Regards,
    Hachi

    Dear,
    Are you getting message 12019?
Have you maintained the SLED in Plant storage view 1 in material master?
Set customizing so that it is not necessary to enter such a date for the used movement types. Maintain the data by using Transaction SM30 in View V_156_MHD.
    Or
    Deactivate using Customizing
    Customizing via the following path:
Materials Management --> Inventory Management/Physical Inventory  --> Goods Receipt --> Set expiration date check.
You should  deactivate the check for the used movement types,

  • Line-in port not showing in sound preferences

On my G5 in system preferences/sound/input, "audio line-in port" doesn't appear.  Only "internal microphone" is listed.  Anyone seen this before?  Thanks.

In case anyone viewing my question has the same issue, here is the solution I discovered:
    Go to Applications/Utilities/Audio MIDI Setup
Under Audio Input/Source choose "Line In"
    Good luck!

  • Line In Port

I'm having trouble connecting a Logitech Internet Chat headset to the Line In port on my Mac Mini. Plugging in the wire for the headphone parts works fine, but when I plug in the wire fo the microphone, I cannot get it to work, and record sound in Skype or Garage Band. Do I need a new headset/microphone combo? If I plug the headset in to a Windows XP machine and a Mac Mini that has a Sound Blaster MP3+ external sound connected the headset works fine.

    Hello,
I've got a very detailed post here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=3042039#3042039
That posting discussed not only why it doesn't work, but also discusses a variety of option that can enable you to use a Microphone with your Mac.
Go ahead and look that over, and see if that helps you to put together a good solution for your needs.
    I hope this helps.

  • What is the "Audio line in" port for?

I have a microphone headset but plugging the mic cord into the audio line in port does nothing. Similarly, when I tried plugging a cable from the "tape out" of my audio amplifier into that port for dubbing purposes, nothing happened. In both cases I can achieve what I want using an iMic and a USB port. So what's the audio line line port for? How can I use it?

Check your Sound settings in system preferences and audio midi set-up, Brian. It may be that you have it set to accept sound in through USB at present. Another possibility is that the port has "stuck" on "optical input".
    Cheers

  • Need to pass in line charges when cancel order line using API?

    Hi,
Do we need to pass in line charges (charges, freight cost) when cancel order line using Oe_Order_Pub.Process_Order API?

I found the answer to my own question:
Yes it is a supported feature. It is documented on the following page:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/flash/desktop/NativeApp lication.html#event:invoke
When you subscribe to the invoke event of the NativeApplication it will subsequently dispatch the event and you read the e.arguments Array object to get the startup arguments passed into the native application.

  • Can't capture through line-in port SB Live! 24-bit and Linux A

    Hi,
I've posted this message to the ALSA User's forum but have not yet received any responses, so I'm hoping somebody in this forum can help me.
I just installed a SB Li've! 24-bit card (SB040) into a Dell Server 950 running Redhat Enterprise Linux ES, with kernel 2.6.9. I also upgraded ALSA from .0.6 to .0.3 by compiling the sources for the drivers, libraries and utilities.
Here are some of the things that I *can* do:
    - I am able to hear the test sound from the Sound Detection tool.
    - I can successfully play (and hear) a wav file using aplay.
    - I can use alsamixer to control volume and select line-in for capture.
    - I can hear white noise when I run speaker-test.
However, the thing I most need to do, but cannot, is to capture anything from the line-in port.
I'd like to capture from the line-in port but I hear nothing when I play it back. If I dump the contents of the buffer after calling snd_pcm_readi, there's nothing but NULLs. I also tried using arecord, sending the output to a file. Using hexdump to examine the file, except for the first 48 bytes (or so) of data, the rest of the file contained NULLs. The first 48 bytes appear to be some kind of header info, since I see that those bytes are always pretty similar after each attempt to record.
I am using the plughw:0,0 device. I tried to open the "default" device in my test capture/playback program, but that gave me the following error when I attempted the snd_pcm_open:
ALSA lib pcm_direct.c:587: (snd_pcm_direct_parse_open_conf) The field ipc_gid must be a valid group (create group audio)
cannot open audio device default (Invalid argument)
I am doing all work logged in as root.
Can somebody please help me figure out what's wrong?
    Thanks,
    Anna Klein

Another option is two sets of Minijack male-to-minijack male and plug to the Green and Black jacks and Audio Input of your speakers.
I want to try the two sets of minijack hook-up option, but I cannot find the audio cables.
I bought these speakers 2 or 3 years ago and have only used the SPDIF cable.
Actually i have the FPS 2000 Digital speakers. I had earlier said FPS 2000.

  • Simple Port Forwarding Question

Sorry if this has been asked and answered many times before but I I've been at this for hours and I'm getting nowhere.
We have a Cisco 861 router.  I've taken over the IT responsibilities from someone else and I'm just trying to forward TCP/UDP ports 5899 and 9010 to our server.  I can access the server using Remote Desktop so I can see the previous IT person has gotten that far.  Below is the output of our "Running Configuration".
I can see the line "ip port-map user-protocol--4 port tcp 3389"  but I can't figure out how to add my own 5899 and 9010 lines.
I'm using the Cisco Configuration Professional UI but I don't have a problem using the command line interface if I'm sure I have the right commands to input.  I started adding an extended rule using the ACL Editor in CCP but I'm afraid to deliver the changes to the router because it doesn't look anything like the "ip port-map user-protocol--4 port tcp 3389" line.
Here is the information generated from the ACL editor (again, I haven't delivered it to the router):
    ip access-list extended user-protocol--05
    remark Radmin5899
    remark CCP_ACL Category=1
    remark Radmin5899
permit tcp any host 10.10.10.10 eq 5899
    exit
I don't think the ACL output is correct because I don't see the public IP.
How do I create a cusom ip port-map like the ones listed in the "Running Configuration"?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Turns out, through some quirk of either Java, IE or CCP, the "Port to Application Mappings" page was blank.  I added the necessary application protocol and it worked for opening a port I needed open on the server.  Even with the screen blank I could click on the blank area in different spots and the "Edit..." button would become available.  For whatever reason, whenever I go into CCP now, the page is no longer blank.
I'm having a different problem now with opening ports for our camera DVR.  I'll start a new thread for that.
    Thanks for the help.
