Cancelling BT landline because it is too expensive

I just received my BT landline bill today and it is £65.21 despite the fact that I used it very little over the past 3 months.   This is because of the advanced line rental so I have decided to cancel my landline rather than keep paying for something I very seldom use.  Plus I am moving home soon anyway.  What I would like to know is if I contact BT and tell them I want to cancel as soon as possible will I get a smaller bill.  I intend getting rid of the landline well before the next 3 months are up so I won't need the rental

Welcome to the forum. BT don't issue amended bills as such but if you cancel your services you will get a final bill, which will produce a refund if you are in credit. Remember that you have to give 30 days notice (14 if moving to another supplier) which will be chargeable.

    I just wanted to voice my opinion that I think $9.99 a month is too expensive for what this service offers. Hulu plus is only $7.99 a month and I get access to hundreds of videos for visual entertainment that are also accesible on my computer and my iphone. Granted this service offers a lot more than pandora, but that service is only $36 a year, only $3 a month. I think pricing it even with hulu plus would be a better way to go. I was seriously going to purchase the service, especially after I saw and email giving me a month free, but when I realized that it was going to be $2 more expensive, I then just thought, I'll just save the money and only keep my hulu plus. For me, if it was priced a little less, I would justify the cost to myself more. Especially if it was even a dollar less than hulu plus, I might even justify cancelling one service for the other to save the money. Just saying...

    I like Spotify its a neat service. But $13.00 a month (NZ) is an interesting thing, you see I only like a few albums and singles mixed together, so I listen to those tracks over and over with no real desire to look for more unless I'm bored. So Spotify forces me to look for new music to get my monthly subscriptions worth out of the service. This is the part I struggle with - don't get me wrong I love music and Spotify helps a lot with that. But I tend to find good tracks by my own research and can get the music that I love on to different media the way I LIKE IT not spotify's way (we own everything you own nothing). I had a monthly subscription and enjoyed it but I soon found out that when I could no longer afford the service the music I thought that I owned was totally swiped away from me. This is fair as Spotify is running a business after all. But me being me I tend to take such things personally, I could no longer listen to my fav tracks anymore and had to source all the material again by other means to replace back to my smartphone. I am a lot happier now as I feel like I am in control again. Keep up the good work Spotify - you can fool the people some of the time, but not all of the time.

    I thought I'd add to my comment above by saying Spotify is great. You are a good business in indeed...you listened to us 'financially challenged' indivduals out there and added the service within our phone plans for FREE and THAT my friends is what I call excellent service.   • Since upgrade to iOS 7 Email error on over 100KB emails "Cannot Send Mail  The message was rejected by the server because it is too large." Connecting to Exchange via Activesync

    Hi,
    Following the upgrade to iOS 7.0.3 on all our iPhone and iPad devices, it has been identified that when sending emails around 100KB in size and over an error message appears on the device stating “Cannot Send Mail  The message was rejected by the server because it is too large.” See error message below. The send/receive limit is over 10MB so this is not the issue.
    We are in an Exchange Environment using Microsoft Activesync. This issue is not evident in iOS 6. This has been tested on an iPhone 3GS running version iOS 6.1.3. We have been unable to repeat the issues seen on iOS 7 on the older OS. It is not possible to roll back to the older operating system as Apple are no longer signing the software.
    We use Microsoft Active Sync to connect to our Exchange servers through a TMG. The issue is very inconsistent, some identical emails go through, some fail. This is not an issue with the send/receive limit as this is over 10MB. The error message when it fails on the TMG is Status: 413 Request Entity Too Large, which we believe is from IIS on the CAS server.
    Does anyone have any suggest course of actions to take?

    This resolution have to attend at the server not with the ios device. My employer's mail administrator reject me to correct it from the server. As his concern is, if ither ios devices works why don't mine? So I am helpless than changing my iphone. It works fine for early versions of ios and with androids. And also one of my friends iphone4 with ios 7 (similar as mine) works too. So I guess it's something wrong with my iPhones settings. But basic question I cannot understand is it works in my phone before this ios7 upgrading. And currently working with my yahoo account too. Favourable reply expected.

  • Week Cal HD app removed from App Store because it is too similar to the build in calendar - what is your take?

    Apple apparently removed the Week Cal HD app from the App Store becuase it is too similar to the build in calendar app. I loved that app and am really annoyed that Apple removes an app I paid for, thus making it impossible for the developer to post an update that would allow it to work under OS5. I just posted this email below to their support but would love to hear what others are thinking about this issue and hopefully enough people raise their voice to get apple to allow the app back into the store. Here is my email to customer support. I will post also any reply I get Apple:

    I have purchased Week Cal HD a while back via the App Store. This app stopped working after I upgraded to OS5 and I have been waiting for a new version that supports it. Since no update was posted until now I contacted the developer and have been informed that Apple has removed the app from the app store, claiming it has too many similarities with the build in calendar application.
    I find this very unfortunate as the app as a few key features the build in calender application doesn't have (ability to set first day of the week to Monday, better looking UI). I actually find it deeply troubeling that Apple decides to effectively take away an app a customer has purchased through Apple. I find the argument that it has been removed because it is too similar to the build in calendar highly disingenious as a) this was already the case when Apple first sold it through the app store and b) it doesn't harm Apple's business as the build in calendar app is an OS feature and not a separate revenue stream. So what if it is similar? It does something the build in software doesn't and I paid to access this software knowing that it is a product that provides similar funcitonality. Quiet frankly I loved Week Cal HD because of these subtle differences and I cringe every time I now have to use the build in calendar (I find it unbelieveable that a company with the design ethos of Apple, that is capable of developing such stunning modern hardware, creates a calendar app that is so inflexible and has a UI that is in such bad taste - do you really think I want a simulated paper feel on my futuristic IPad?).
    I very much encourage you to allow the sale of Week Cal HD through the App store again or provide me with a reason why Apple decided to effectively take away a software I paid for?

    And i think with further digging you will discover that the developer has had a revised app for many many months ready but its been blocked by apple. Also these similar features that are causing the fuss first existed on week cal hd, not the other way around, sovthis is just usual apple style, and its a bigger shame that they could not even exucute it properly, instead we are stuck withva calendar that cant be used for business unless all you want to do is keep track of birthdays and your lunch breaks ....

    Double-tap the screen with three fingers to disable Zoom.
    To turn off Zoom go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Zoom and turn this Off.

    The ntfs hasn't seem to be causing any problems, but I've always wanted to know.
    in order for your Mac to write to NTFS drives, it needs some help by installing e.g. the NTFS 3G driver. apparently that or something similar is installed on your Mac already. preferably, it would be formatted for Mac but then windows machines would need to have e.g. MacDrive installed to recognize the drive.

    That is usually an indication that the Volume was never Erased or Partitioned for GUID partition table and Mac OS, and is still in a Windows format.
    Mac OS X Extended (journaled) has no such file-size limitations

    Was it purchased from an official Apple Store, not a reseller?  Only Apple Stores sell official factory unlocked phones.  The others sell hacked to unlock phones, and the unlocking is unstable.
    Try these steps, as needed:
    1. Reset phone - press both home and on/off buttons for at least 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears.
    2. Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
    3. Replace SIM card (and reset network settings again)
    4. Restore Phone in iTunes using a backup
    5. Restore in iTunes as new, without using a backup

  • I am having trouble with a video.  I have tried to copy it to a flash drive because it is too big to fit on a DVD, it says it is too large for the volumes format.  Please advise.

    I have done many DVD's for seniors for graduation so I am familier with Imovie.  I have just finished a projec that is a combination of video, music and stills.  I shared it through idvd.  Now I can't burn it to a dvd because it is too large.  It is too big even for a two sided disk.  I have researched it and i find that blue ray would be big enough.  Does apple offer  blue ray burner?  if so, what is the cost?  I tried another route and took my external hard drive to copy it to a PC.  there computer wouldn't recongize my drive.  I am assuming it is because it is formated for apple.  I tired copying it to a flash drive and and it says that it can't be copied because it is too large for the volume's format.  Suggestions?   PLEASE!!!!!

    Could the video be too big because of using too high a resolution?   480p is sufficient for a DVD.  the thread at:

    Apple does not support Blue ray - you have to use a thrid party application like Toast.
    To transfer the video to a PC you need a FAT-formatted hard drive (or of course a sufficiently big memory stick).
    You could also go via a network, via the cloud (eg Dropbox) or with 'Wetransfer" or similar.

    Either you have access to Pages ’08 v3, Pages ’09 v4, or neither. One of these older, but more functional versions of Pages can open, and export the document in question to Word. Preview on OS X 10.9.5 and Yosemite can view Pages ’08 documents (in my experience). It is not obvious to me that Preview may be using the installed Pages ’09 v4.3 to assist in opening these '08 documents.
    Once opened in Preview, you can select/paste text into Pages v5.2.2, or v5.5. If you want the images from the PDF, then export it from Preview as PDF, and then drag/drop onto latest free LibreOffice icon in the Dock, which will open the PDF for editing. Select, copy, and paste the images into Pages v5, or incorporate into Text boxes, or Shapes. When pasted, images will be in their original size/resolution, not necessarily as small as they appear in the PDF.
    If the second paragraph is a chore, then follow Peggy's advice above on the sources for purchase of Pages ’09.
    In the future, I would not recommend trusting document architecture to Apple, and use a more accessible format (.doc/x) for better cross-platform access, longevity, and application choice. You may find LibreOffice, or Office for Mac 2011 a better choice for features.

    If you migrated your old system to the new Mac you should still have Pages '08 in your Applications/iWork folder.
    Open your document in Pages '08 and Export it to Word .doc/.docx and open that in Pages 5.

    I suspect you have created the documnet's in Pages 08 or earlier. Do you have the iWork 08 DVD so you can install it? Then update to from this link Pages 08 3.0.3  Use it for you older documents and use Pages 5 only for new documents.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
    First, when you are going to turn off or restart your Mac, you will see a box called "Reopen windows when logging back in" in the shutdown or restart window. Untick this box and see if the App Store opens automatically in the next startup.
    If it starts, open System Preferences > Users and Groups > Login Items, and see if the App Store shows up. If so, remove it from this list

    Numbers 3.x can only open Numbers '09 and later.  You will need Numbers '09 to open Numbers '08 files.
    If it is a single file (or only a few) you can email me and I will open and convert then email back.  My email address is in the "Biography" of my profile.
    You may have Numbers '09 installed.  Look in the folder "/Applications/iWork '09"  if Numbers is in that folder launch it, open the file you tried to open, and save.  Then you should be able to open in Numbers 3.x
