Cancelling disc burn error 4310

Hi all
I am hoping someone can help.
I have just bought a new Asus laptop with Windows 8 and have installed the latest version of iTunes.
All my music is in the library now and I have created some play lists and went to burn a disc, I selected maximum possible speed and in about 1 second it says "disc initiallising" and then straight away says "cancelling disc burn" and then says "attempt to burn disc failed, an unexpected error (4310) has occured".
I have googled this but cant find a solution that works. I have tried changing the compatibility to Windows 7, also tried Widows XP (service pack 3) and also unchecked this to not use an older version whatsoever. I have tried registering the new computer to my account. I have also tried a lower speed at 1x, when doing this it does a longer initialising and goes through all the songs but as soon as it goes to burn it cancels itself.
I have tried several different blank discs, nothing. It worked perfectly like this on the old computer (windows 7).
I have even ran diagnostics on the DVD drive through iTunes and results are below -
Can anyone help? I just want to put my music on to disc.
Thanks

Hi nina:
That is usually cause by using a DVD media that you Macs don't like.
Try using a DVD-R 4x from Verbatim. Seems to have the best track record here.

  • BACKING UP LIBRARY-STARTS,AND SHORTLY READS"CANCELING DISC BURN"WHY??

ive been going through the initial steps offered on itunes to back up library.i am only trying to back up purchased items.i then receive the info that says multiple discs required.so i put in first disc,it starts saying "writing to disc" and initializes the burning.i see several tracks pass by as though being burned.but at a certain point it starts reading "canceling the burn, will take a min or two".however more than 10 to 15 mins go by and nothing happens, except same message.and when i go to take the disc out,it informs me that if i cancel disc burn, info will not be burned.but it is not doing anything kind of in a frozen stasis with same message.what do i do?

You might want to direct your question to the iTunes forum. You might also want to search the forums for that and see if there are any threads regarding it.

  • Canceling disc burn - stuck

My iTunes has said "canceling disc burn" for 3 days. I did attempt to cancel a disc burn and now I can't get the disc out. I have tried eject.
iTunes is working despite this, but I still need the disc out.

Run *Disk Utility*, select the disc and Eject it.
If that doens't do it, restart the computer holding the mouse button.

  • When I try to burn cd's I get the message 'cancelling disc burn' and an error code '4280', also I can't burn cd's on WMP all this has started after I upgraded, any ideas?

Since I upgraded to the latest version of itunes I can't burn discs, I just get the message 'cancelling burn' with error code '4280',   it was working fine before I upgraded, I am using Windows XP, any ideas?

    Many thanks for the diagnostics.

Error while opening iTunes CD driver.  This could be caused by a corrupted iTunes file or a conflict with other older CD burning applications, either currently installed or previously installed and uninstalled incorrectly.

  • Error 4000 - Cancelled Disc Burn

    Hi there.
I recently upgraded my pc with a new hard disk array, and installed a fresh copy of vista 64-bit (I really want a mac, but I'm saving up for that). Today I was trying to burn a CD to play some of my purchased iTunes music in the game Audiosurf, and to my dismay iTunes came back with "Error 4000". Anybody got any ideas? I'm running itunes 7.7.1.11 on my Vista Ultimate 64-bit computer. A few other people here have said stuff like nero stops itunes working, which I do have installed as it came with my SONY DVD burner. I'd appreciate as much help as possible with this, I really need to play Knights of Cydonia on Audiosurf

could you post your DVD/CD diagnostics, please?
in itunes, go "help > run diagnostics", select DVD/CD diagnostics and paste the complete results into a reply.

  • Disc burn error 0xFFFFFFCA?????? PLEASE HELP!!

I have been trying to use Backup 3 (yes it is the Leopard approved version) since upgrading to Leopard (I did not do a "clean" install) to burn to DVD.
    The following occurs everytime.
My DVD-RW is ejected and this message appears:
    Burn Failed
There was a problem burning this disc. 0xFFFFFFCA
    My options:
    Cancel Entire Backup Retry
    It doesn't work on retry.
It WILL erase the data on disc after inserted for the burn and the disc shows up on my desktop and definitely spins in the drive and is recognized as being in the drive and the disc to burn to. It fails after only copying files.... (which it doesn't appear to completely finish).
Could the problem be the fact that Backup 3 application names the burn drive as SuperDrive when before Leopard and the new Backup 3 it always listed what my iMac was installed with and what I actually have:
    PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K06:
    Firmware Revision: Q609
    Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive)
    Cache: 2000 KB

    DVD-Write: -R, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW
    Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO
Media: Insert media and refresh to show available burn speeds
I turn to all of you after spending 1 hour and 45 mins on hold for Apple help, first person had no clue and put me back on hold for someone else who supposedly would have a clue, MAYBE...
    PLEASE HELP!!
thank you humbly from someone who admits outright I am SUCH A NEWBIE.

Same thing to me using LiquidCD CD/DVD burning application on Leopard 10.5.1
It worked fine for 10 DVD backups and when trying another backup on DVD, I have this error 0xFFFFFFCA

  • Disc Burning Error 4450

I have been encountering this error ** The Attempt to Burn Disc has failed Error 4450*** when trying to burn my Itunes purchases to disc, I have ruined multiple blank discs.I ran the Itunes diagnostics and everything passes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here's how I got my problem fixed. First of all my problem was that the songs I had purchased in the past were bought under a different user name (and it was an AOL account, not an Apple account) on a different computer. The AOL account had "expired", meaning the credit card attached to it was no longer valid. After deleting the SC Folder as directed in another discussion the matter got worse.
I went to the iTunes support site (http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/) and selected "Authorization" from the "Get Customer Service" list and then "Troubleshooting authorization problems" then clicked on "email us". I explained my issue and the next day I had a response from Apple. I was told I had to convert the AOL account to an Apple account by trying 'to sign in to the iTunes Store three (3) times using your AOL screen name and password.
After the third sign-in attempt, the iTunes Store will ask if you would like to
transition your account to an Apple ID. Click Convert and follow the onscreen
    instructions.
As part of this transition, the credit card information in your AOL wallet is
automatically imported into your iTunes Store account. From then on, your iTunes
Store purchases will not be charged to your AOL wallet.
If the credit card for your AOL wallet has expired, or if you have canceled it,
the transition from AOL to Apple ID won't work. In that case, I can convert your
account for you. Before I can do this, however, Apple requires that you provide
    the following for security reasons:
    - The billing address listed on the account
    - Your permission to reset the password
...as well as one of the following:
    - the last four digits of the credit card used for your iTunes Store account
    - or the order number of your most recent purchase
    - or the name of any item you've purchased using this account
Upon receiving your response, Apple will verify your information, convert your
account manually, and send you an email with your new password.
Once you're able to authorize your computer to play purchases made using that
account, you can transfer the items from your iPod to the computer without any
    issues.'
Since my credit card had expired I had to send the information and they sent back a
    Hope this helps.

  • I am trying to burn photos onto a dvd and cd but it keeps saying disc burn error. what do i do? i have already went through 5 cps and 1 dvd.

I have been trying to get these pictures off of my computer so i want to burn them but everytime i try it says disc error. i have tried several different cds. it will say finishing burn but then eject it and says burn disc error.... please help

How are you burning the photos to the disc?  Via the Share ➙ Burn menu or buy exporting the photos to a folder on the Desktop and then burning that folder to disc?
The former method creates a mini library on the disk that can only be read and use by a Mac with iPhoto.  The latter method saves just the photos to disc which can be used by any computer.
What system and iPhoto version are you using?  How much free space do you have on your MacBook Pro?
If you're using the Share ➙ Burn method can you burn a disc from the Finder?
Describe in detail what you're trying so we have a better understanding and can better offer a solution.

  • Canceling Disc Burn - Burn may take up to an hour

Everytime I try to back up my itunes onto disc this is the message I am getting. I have never had any problems before. I always do it from the itunes site...file =>library => back up to disc.
I tried to get around it by doing it from my D Drive and it says there's a problem with the disc...tried several others same message evrytime. It cancels the writing because it says the disc is the problem.
My burner is very slow but it's always been that way. It's not having any trouble reading previous backups or other cd's.
But I can't back up my itunes anymore...I have tried everything. Very frustrated and assistance would be appreciated.

I feel like i've answered questions like this over and over.
If you look around on the boards you will notice that lots and lots of people are having trouble burning CD's. I wasted 4 or 5 CD's because I actually wasn't sure what was going wrong.
It is the new Itunes 8.1. Seriousley just surf around the boards and you will find numerous posts. I think there is a post that has tons and tons of views and quite a few comments because we are trying to get Itunes attention so that they will fix it!
There are a few posts that have something that I think might solve the problem, but i haven't tried it yet. It's like changing the burn speed or something.

  • Cancelling disc burn taking more than half-an-hour

I had just burned a cd before trying to burn another one but that wouldn't finish. The one before it took less than two minutes while this next one was taking more than ten. I decided to cancel it but now it is still on the cancelling sequence and I cannot get the cd out. Any advice?

Given that it's so new, and what you've already tried, it sounds like an issue that requires service.

  • Disc Burn Error #4450 - This has been going on for six months now!

I cannot burn discs anymore since two upgrades ago. I have tried EVERYTHING, different discs, cleaning out my computer and my iTunes library, making sure nothing was running in the background ... etc. NO luck. I have no clue what to do now and have not been able to burn discs for six months now. Is there an actual support phone number? This is ridiculous! I remember it was a big problem a while ago, and now they want us to upgrade to iTunes 8. If anyone has any suggestions that they can throw my way it would be greatly appreciated. It's possible I might be missing something, but my discs were burning fine before, of course, I upgraded.
Thanks for any help! ... (^_~)

I am having the same problem - has anyone responded to you yet? I am deserate - there is got to be way - unless I need to update my cd drivers??
Let me know if you here anything.

  • 7.0.2 Disc burn errors!!!!!!!

Had previous version of itunes burnt cds fine.
downloaded 7.0.2 now has unknown errors 4201 and 4251. Tried it 10 times both audio and mp3 cds. Help! I just spent how much on downloads and now I can't use them!

    Hey rtfg,
Have you tried a new user to test issue?
It would be helpful to know if it occurs in just your user.
You may want to copy the songs you are trying to burn to your Public folder. So you can add them to the new users iTunes.
See http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106167, for background information on the user environment
For adding a new user, if you are unfamiliar with steps:
Use the Finder Help menu to open Mac Help, search for "Adding a new user account to your computer", for instructions on creating a new user.

  • Error 4310 when burning playlist to CD

I'm trying to use the Burn to Playlist function in iTunes and which is failing immediately on starting and I'm receiving a pop-up box with the message "The attempt to burn disc failed. An unknown error occurred (4310)."
I'm running on Windows 8 on a newish Dell Inspiron 14R laptop, using the latest version of iTunes 11.0.4.4.
After trailing through Google  I've tried the following reported solutions without success:
    1.  reduce the speed of the burn
    2. changing the default gap between songs from 2 second to none
    3. shutting down other disc burning software running in the background/system tray (in my case it was Nero)
    4. tried new blank CDs in the CD drive
    5. using different brands of CD
    6. checked my dvd driver and the status is "This device is working properly."
    7. including and excluding iTunes purchased music
    8. reopening iTunes by right-clicking on iTunes icon on Desktop and selecting "Run as administrator" ...... this seemed to have the only impact as it at least ran the entire playlist to run the "Preparing disk" process in iTunes before the "Cancelling disc burn" message appeared at the point of failure
Any other suggestions? This seems to be a common problem for the past few years... why aren't Apple doing anything about fixing it??
