  • I'm new to Blackberry and I can't download the App World

    Hi all.
I got my new curve 8520 two days ago, and I've been trying to download the app world and it's not been successful.
I can still use the internet to browse, I can use the facebook/twitter/myspace apps but I just can't get to the app world.
Can anyone help me out please?

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Please check this page to ensure you meet the minimum requirements (including if it is available in your country):
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/appworld/download.jsp
If it is available in your country and you feel you meet the device-level system requirements, then contact your carrier to ensure that you meet the service plan (from them) requirements for access (via their network) to AppWorld.
Lastly, do be aware that AppWorld is merely a portal, vending apps developed mainly by others. As such, it is not your exclusive procurement source -- there are others that you can try (e.g., Handango, Handmark, BPlay, GetJAR or Mobihand). I have found that there are very few apps that are exclusive to AppWorld. You can search the on-line catalog and then search out other procurement sources, including quite often the developer website itself.
    Good luck!

  • BB Pearl 8130 "access not allowed!" when trying to download Blackberry App World

Hi, well I am trying to download blackberry app world onto my blackberry pearl 8130 and whenever I try to download it it goes through the language prompts but then goes to a page with "access not allowed" My device software is v4.5, I am currently in Canada, I have the data plan, I can use the internet browser and my carrier is Telus. All help is appreciated, please and thank you!

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
"Access Not Allowed"? Is that the precise and exact message? If not, please do provide the precise message.
Please check this page to ensure you meet the minimum requirements (including if it is available in your country):

If it is available in your country and you feel you meet the device-level system requirements, then contact your carrier to ensure that you meet the service plan (from them) requirements for access (via their network) to AppWorld. Generic data plans, even unlimited, are usually not sufficient...a specific BB data plan is normally required.

  • Unable to download/upgrade App World - Error Invalid manifest or application descriptor.

I have tried to download 7.1, but it seems it is not available for my region (Chile). I have checked on 'Software Updates' on the device, where it indicates"Your Blackberry is up to date" and doesn't offer any option to update.  I have also checked on the Blackberry website, and it also tells me there are no updates available. It tells me I have this version on my phone: 7.0 2395 (v. 7.0.0.579, platform 5.0.0.735). It seems that the version releases may be related to geographical location and Carrier (I have Entel PCS as my carrier.) I re-installed the latest update of 7.0 that the website would allow me to do, then tried to download AppWorld, but no success.

    Hello
    I have a Bold 9900, software 7.0
I have had problems with App World for several months. The App on my phone indicated that an upgrade is available, however when I went to upgrade I received the following message: Error : Invalid manifest or application descriptor.
    The "MIDLet-Name" attribute is missing.
After several failed attempts trying to download the upgrade I finally deleted App World from my phone to try to re-install it directly from the phone, but this gives me the above error message.
I have tried to update it using the appworld.blackberry.com site, but was unsuccessful. After deleting App World from my phone the appworld site no longer recognizes my device and tells me to "Please connect your device" when I click the 'My World' link.
When I try to download AppWorld from the Blackberry website, I receive this message:
"Downloads via a USB connection are not enabled for this product. Please visit our mobile download site using the browser on your BlackBerry® smartphone."
I've hard rebooted the device repeatedly, hoping that this would help, but it hasn't.
    Any ideas?

  • Whats App stopped working, can't re-install, can't download from App World or Internet

A few days ago, Whats App messages were not longer being delivered.  I contacted Whats App support and they sugggested turning connections on / off, soft reset, hard reset, etc....and then finally uninstall / reinstall the application.  Service books resent, device re-registered...etc.etc......I can make calls / SMS, send receive emails....
I have a blackberry bold, 9780, Software 6.0 Bundle 2475 and I've seen a message that it's up to date
My ability to download from the network and re-install Whats App is intermittent.  I've confirmed its not the network (other users are having no problems).  Here's the various things that have been happening:
Appear to access Whats App on App World, click on "Reinstall", starts to download..then get error message "903 Loss of Service HTTP Error 400: Bad Request"
I've tried just connecting to wireless without network provider and receive an error message about the radio not being turned on.
Other times, I can't even access app world and gett error "An error has occurred. Please try again later. (Error ID 40820)
When trying to access webpages, I've sometimes received "Connection Timed Out. (web address) :80)
I'm in the UAE and my wireless provider is dU.....
I guess the only thing that I haven't tried is putting the SIM card into another blackberry....but I'm not sure what issues this will cause... and I'm hesitant to do so.
I'm not a technical person at all.....it's been really frustrating to not be able to communicate with people via whatsapp.....
I guess the only other thing I've come across is trying to install it through Blackberry Desktop Software but I have no idea how to do this....I shy aware from BB Desktop software as I don't understand the processes or what it does.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!
    Cindy

    Hi chilkootcindy,
Regarding the error you are receiving using BlackBerry App World™ storefront, could you please verify that the date and time settings on your BlackBerry® Bold™ smartphone are correct before retrying to download? This KB article provides the steps to check this. ""An error has occurred. Please try again later" is displayed when the user attempts to login to BlackBerry App World " http://bbry.lv/I2w2E3
If these settings are correct, I would suggest verifying with your wireless service provider that your data plan currently supports these applications.
The following KB articles provide additional information on the "HTTP: 400 Bad Request" error you are receiving in your BlackBerry® Bold™ smartphone browser and the Error ID 40820 you are receiving in BlackBerry App World.
""HTTP: 400 Bad Request" is displayed when attempting to browse the internet on the BlackBerry smartphone" http://bbry.lv/QBNNNh
""BlackBerry App World is having trouble connecting to the BlackBerry App World server. Verify your network connections and try again. (Error id: 40820) " error is displayed when opening App World on the BlackBerry smartphone" http://bbry.lv/H9ZfLO
    Hope this is helpful.

  • Cannot download blackberry app world apps - "enable cookies" error message keeps coming

    Hi,
    I have a Curve 3920, running v7.1.0 OS.
Back in July I kept getting low memory messages and it kept getting stuck so I had to un-install apps such as Linkedin or What's App. Then I realized I only had 2GB memory so upgraded to a 16GB one.
Now the blackberry works ok but it is impossible to re-install Linkedin or World Apps app or any other from Blackberry World interface, it keeps coming coming up with ""BlackBerry ID Services. We detect that cookies have been disabled in your browser. Please enable cookies in order to continue." error message, even though I have correct set-up in the device browser option set-up menu.
However I successfully managed to download What's App, but not from app world page.
Any idea of what can be done?
    Many thanks in advance.

    Go to Solution.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!!
    Please try this sequence:
    1) Remove both AppWorld AND the Identity App from your BB
KB10040 How to view or remove installed applications on a BlackBerry smartphone
If it requests that you reboot the BB, do so
    2) Do a Batt-Pull reboot (power on, remove battery, wait, insert battery, wait), even if redundant to the one you did in step 1.
    3) Install (on your BB) a fresh copy of AppWorld (during which a fresh version of the Identity App should also install)
    http://blackberry.com/appworld/download
Again, if it requests to reboot, do so.
    4) Do another Batt-Pull reboot
    5) See if it now works.
    Cheers!

  • Cast get past log in screen to download from app world

i have an white 8520 and i cant seem to get past the log in screen to download stuff from app world. Its letting me click on download then letting me enter my email and password then its just redirecting me back to the password screen on the phone. I really dont know what is up i was on the phone with o2 for an hour the other trying to solve the problem but it dusnt seem to be happening for me.  could someone please try and help me out as i really want to use my app store x thanks

In many cases the BlackBerry ID has not been created successfully and therefore will not let you past that screen.... go to www.blackberry.com/blackberryid and try to create a new BlackBerry ID , and then log in from the device.
Still others have been sucessful by editing to allow ALL permissions for App World.
    * Go to Options/Settings > Advanced Options > Applications, (you will see your list of all your apps on your BlackBerry)
    * Sroll down to BlackBerry App World, > Click the Menu key > Edit Permissions, and change everything to allow and save it.
Now go back to your App World login and see if it works.

  • Device restarts automatically after downloading from app world

Whenever I download something from the app world on my curve 8530 it auto reboots. I have software version 5.0.0.395

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode
It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.
If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.
But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, then you may need to consider more drastic actions -- WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload, and the "Bare Bones" OS Reload Process. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup to your PC...please review the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post for instructions.
Good luck and let us know!

  • My Blackberry 8520 won't let me download the App World

    Hi,
I recently got my Blackberry 8520 unlocked to all networks. As I turned it on, the BlackBerry App World was gone as were a few other things and my BlackBerry Messenger was not working properly. I could not recieve messages or send them. I installed the BlackBerry User Tools disk on my laptop and re-installed a few things but they still would not work and the icons were not there. I also tried to download them off the internet on my BlackBerry and it went as far as the language selection and then when I clicked select language, my phone brought me to the BlackBerry logo and just stayed there and nothing happened.
Can anyone tell me why this is and what I can do please?
    Thanks.

Nice catch on the diagnostic option change!
I always run the advanced display, its always better to have as much detailed information as possible when you are troubleshooting a problem.
